Kristen is still missing today. Her father, CB, shows the signs of stress he must feel as he worries desperately about his daughter. His emotions fluctuate wildly and he continues to track down unsubstantiated leads and rumors which only frustrate him more. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to have no idea where a loved one has gone or what may have happened to them.
This case continues to baffle me. Like many of the WS’ers here I go back and forth on what may have happened to her. For now, until we know more, I am narrowing down my theory to 2 options:
- Something happened to her in the home
- She intentionally left
I am throwing out the theory that she left upset and something like an abduction just happened to happen later. As was stated upthread by DocBrew it is very unlikely that two bad things were perpetrated on her by two different bad guys in one day. That’s a little too coincidental for my taste.
Starting with the theory that she intentionally left, my thought process is as follows: Kristen’s family seems adamant that she would not have left her child for this long or failed to contact a family member or close friend. People describe her as sweet, personable and loving. However, I don’t feel like I know her in the way that you feel like sometimes when you follow other cases. She was active on FB, then stopped about 2 years ago. I haven’t seen other sm presence since then which is unusual for someone her age. I don’t know her state of mind or if she has been having problems in her life. This makes it hard to get into her head to decide if she did just walk away.
As far as something happening in the home, we still don’t know what LE knows, but we do know that they had enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant. That is telling right there. It does concern me that the home and vehicles were not searched until 10 or 11 days after she was reported missing. Was that because LE initially thought it was a voluntary disappearance but can find no sign of her anywhere? That 10 days gives someone a lot of time to dispose of evidence. And then there’s those mattresses and a sofa out in the yard......
We do not know who reported her missing.
We do not know who described her clothing. (There has been a lot of talk of why she would have on a long sleeve shirt in the summer in NC. I do not find it that unusual. One reason is to cover something on her arms. The other could be that sometimes when you are sitting in an air conditioned place, you get chilled. She reportedly had a tank top on under the long sleeved shirt. If she got cold that morning she might have thrown on the ls shirt. If she walked out upset, she likely didn’t stop to change.)
We do not know who was in the house when she allegedly walked out.
We do not know why she would choose to walk on an extremely hot and humid day when her car was outside the door.
Was there anyone besides the person who reported her missing that actually saw her in the home that day? Or saw her anywhere that day?
I probably watch too many true crime stories on tv. There have been so many cases where the husband or bf gets into a fight with the woman. According to the husband/bf, the woman takes off and is later found to be missing or dead. I can not think of one case that I know of that, in this scenario, it was not the boyfriend or husband who made the woman disappear. I am not making accusations here, I am trying to theorize based on statistics and what we know thus far. I would love to hear that this pretty young mother has come home safely.
