Amanda also seems to have taken ownership of the boys and considered Laura merely a nuisance.

Will the jury find it difficult to assume she was in on the plot to begin with?

The charge doesn't require that Amanda have been in on the plot from the beginning, only that she acted in concert with Grant at the time of the murder.

The evidence is showing that she was with him in lockstep. She may have been in on the plot to kill Laura, but there won't be any specific proof of that or of a plot.
