Did y'all notice the Cracker Barrel reference? <drink>

AH says how they stopped at a Cracker Barrel & mentioned "it's Grant's favorite restaurant..." I was like DEJA VU!!!

I so wanted Becky to mutter, but loud enough, "yeah, Cracker Barrel seems to be the restaurant that wife/mother killers prefer."

I think any large power tool will be audible in other rooms of an apartment, they aren't known for thick walls and bathrooms specifically have very few sound absorbers and many hard, sound-bouncing surfaces (porcelain fixtures, tile, countertop). I bought hub a reciprocating saw for xmas that he hasn't even opened yet (too cold even down here to do much hobby stuff), it has a battery pack so is mobile. If there's no court tomorrow I'll unpack it and take it in the bathroom and see how much noise it makes. lol Even without cutting anything, I feel pretty sure just the sound of it being run will be heard in other nearby rooms.

ETA: Charging the battery pack now. lol

Oh yeah, saw in the bathroom, cutting up a body- you'd have to be unconscious or seriously delusional to NOT hear it & not know what's going on.

Oops! Until I read your post, thistle, I didn't even think about the saw's sound in a bathroom! With all that tile -- and nothing in there to absorb the sound -- it would sound very loud, very loud indeed. It would definitely be loud enuff to wake up even a sound sleeper. Good call!

Well then it seems Grant and Jason Young have a few things in common now, don't they...maybe they can be roomies in prison :jail:

Yep, I noticed it right away, Madeleine! Isn't that the place where shoes & shirts are not only required, but they are also modeled by killers, and then become exhibits by investigators in court?

And I'm sure Becky tried not to smile and shake her head.

Curious to know why Gaskins has spent his whole time during this trial setting up the theory that GH dismembered LA at another location. Isn't it his client on the stand telling us that LA's dead body was obviously in her bathroom? In all the time he has been her attorney has he not talked to her about this? lol

Karen Berry was seen at the courthouse today, leaving shortly after AH started testifying. So she has probably been in Raleigh this entire time. Maybe she's been visiting AH in jail every day to rehearse her story, you know, synching all the details so they match Karen's story.

Why wouldn't she have sat in the courtroom to hear her sister testify if she's remaining in Raleigh? What a family.

This biatch is the coldest, most calculating, selfish piece of teflon I have ever seen. I'm so repulsed by the defendant that I feel nauseated. God, is anything at all, ever in her life her responsibility? Everyone else is always to blame for everything, she cries for herself because of the "grass, the moon" and being in a boat. The fact that Laura Ackerson is dead and cut into pieces is of absolutely no consequence to this sociopath. What a disgusting excuse for a human. She neglected her child while she focused solely on "me, me, me" - her own daughter has always been an afterthought. She has thrown every.single.person in her life under a bus, while portraying herself as a virtuous, selfless altruist. That chick is crazy. And she's despicable. And a horrible "actress." And dangerous.

:dunno: Maybe she is going to be called by the state during their rebuttal case.

Great thought and I hope you're right! But I'm not holding my breath.

She trumps Diane Downs, Jodi Arias, Melanie McGuire and Darlie Routier? Not for me. She's cold but not as bad as those 4, imo.

Well, I just finished watching all of her testimony. FWIW, here's what I think so far:

As for her testimony about events before the murder, I find it pretty believeable from her perspective. I think she did whitewash some of her feelings and actions towards Laura. I think she had a rough childhood and was a pretty flighty person and didn't really have a lot of insight into her own behaviors or how they affected others. She might have been kind of selfish as she says her family thought, and she mentions that clearly there were some tensions with Nicky's family as well.

I think she knew Grant killed Laura when she was driving around smoking in that car. I think she was trying to go along with Grant's story to keep him calm, but I think she knew. I think she thought Laura was dead in NC somewhere and Grant's idea about the hutch and their coming move was how he explained the U-Haul to her. I think she thought going to her sister's was giving Grant an alibi for when Laura was found. "Nope, couldn't have been us, we were in Texas." So mostly, I do believe her, but I don't believe she thought Laura was alive when they left Texas, I just don't think she thought she was in the U-Haul either.

I think she was manipulated by Grant to dislike Laura and funded this whole war against her in court. So I guess that's where I'm conflicted. I don't think she thought Laura would end up murdered or that she killed her. But I think she's too involved with all the things that happened before and all the things that happened after not to have to bear some liability for her actions.

I'm just catching up on AH's testimony & cross. All I can say is wow...Her demeanor is so confident but she's trying to portray herself as childlike. I noticed the distinct change in her voice after the first break, the childish voice was gone, but it returned for cross. I hope the jury picks up on that. I also note the comment about not smoking in the home, but she chain smoked in the car whilst she had all 3 children in the car with her, what a great example to motherhood this woman is. Whatever happened to LA on that fateful day, I'm sure an angry outburst by AH over the supposed $25,000.00 started the sequence of events that followed. This woman was all about money & the way she threw her money at GH proves she would have done anything to keep him. AH didn't know how to say "NO" to GH & it appears she didn't even want to.

I want to agree with you Irish, but the fact that she is claiming Grant would bring Laura into a bathroom BEFORE calling EMS, and the fact that she claims to not be in the least bit curious about that bathroom being closed off later....just NO.
Not to mention that whole "poopy" story. And she claims Grant was the one who cleaned that bathroom. I call BS on that.
Does Grant Hayes strike anyone as the kind of guy who was diligent about a chore he might be assigned?
I think Amanda catered to him in every way, including being the housemaid.

About the flighty selfish part, I TOTALLY agree.
I am re-watching now and she has mentioned going to school for about 5 different things already. Great, you want to learn new things.
How about learning to settle down and give your child a semi normal life?

THIS!
When she said that I went OH NO, NO NO!
I smoke, I have no issue with people who do.
But no way would I smoke in an enclosed car with 3 children.
And honestly I don't think she did either.
She has so far blown it. Her stories are not making sense.
I hope to gosh all her idiotic alibis get blown to shreds tomorrow.

So far, dry this morning at 8am. Forecast says the snow/ice is supposed to begin around 9am. I saw a Wake County Schools closed notification on WRAL's website but can't find anything about the courts. Will post anything that I find.

Other courts in different counties are closed today, the Wake County Bankruptcy court is delayed.....still can't find anything about what we need to know. Will check again in a little bit.
I hope each of you is well and warm no matter where you are!

Good morning everyone! Snow seems to be about an hour or so out, could be a little longer. All the courts around us are closed but still nothing on Wake. I can't see them attempting to have court today knowing that they may only get an hour of testimony in. We will see!!! Hope everyone in the path of this storm stays safe and dry!!!!!

I'm about 5 hours northeast of Raleigh and they are predicting we will have a predicted 5-8 inches of snow/ice/sleet beginning about 6 PM. Extrapolating back, I'm thinking Raleigh will be hit later this morning. I hope they make the right call today.
