Both the mother and the stepfather of an 11-year-old girl from Cornelius were arrested Saturday morning in connection to her disappearance, the Cornelius Police Department announced.

On Saturday, Cornelius police arrested Madalina's mother, Diana Cojocari, for failure to report the disappearance of a child to law enforcement. Christopher Palmiter, the stepdad of Cojocari, was also arrested according to police.

On Friday, the FBI announced it was also investigating and has asked for information regarding the 11-year-old's disappearance.

Since we have all been wondering about Madalina's mom--- she has now been arrested also.

This never looks good and most of us know exactly how this is going to end up, Darn it.

Such a beautiful young girl, gone missing and the adults that are supposed to protect these innocent ones, are the ones that usually end up harming them.

Praying that she is found soon !!!!

Hard to tell if they were arrested separately. LE's statement regarding stepdad's arrest doesn't have a time, but the statement regarding mother's arrest does.

I’m glad they’re charged with something in regards to that, even though I hate to say it I just don’t see a good outcome here and imagine they’ll be charged with more as soon as possible

Stepdad was arrested 29 minutes past midnight

Mother was arrested at 10:12am

I think this is going to be a case of stepdad causing her death and then threatening/intimidating mother into silence. I could be wrong. JMO

Yes, roughed up some or heat marks from a fire ??
I had to go back and look at other photos of her to make sure it wasn't a birthmark or something she always had but NOPE-- this is only photo I see the red marks on her.

Dear Lord-- I don't even want to think about what could have happened to Madalina.

I may be off base but I got a weird feeling from the pictures released of Madalina in the yellow dress. She was posing in different locations but they were all from the same day. Something seemed off in her facial expressions. I wonder if the FBI is involved right away because they think she was abused before she went missing.

Somebody else speculated that too, I sure hope there’s no more children in that situation. It’s hard to say too because for instance in my house we have stockings for extended family who come.
