NEW: Neighbors say the family kept to themselves in a friendly neighborhood, “Where Neighbors are Friends. A LinkedIn profile for Christopher Palmiter says he is a mechanical designer at Ingersoll Rand.
He is a mechanical designer---not sure what that is, but sounds like he has to be intelligent and logical.

So I don't understand this situation at all. Did he not understand that one cannot report their child missing weeks after the last sighting? What did he think was going to happen?

ETA:
Mechanical designers should have the following skills:
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Decision-making skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Creativity.
  • Communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computers and mathematics.
  • Teamwork.

Pressure move by LE, IMO. I pray it works and they find her, alive, and if not alive, at all. Bet the grand jury docs will reveal quite a lot once released.

Are some really suggesting the failure of both parents (or at least the mother) to report their 11 year old CHILD as missing anytime during the last 3 weeks is possibly due to a language barrier and not being from the US originally?

According to the news report, the mother and stepfather purchased the house in 2017. So, they have possibly lived in that neighborhood for a minimum of 5 years.

People who travel around the world and do not speak the languages of the places they are visiting are able to make travel arrangements, hotel accommodations, ask directions and if needed, are able to go to the hospital, report things to the police, work out lost or stolen passports and travel visas even before the days of the internet and smartphones....
but we are to believe its possible this mom (and/or stepdad) couldn't manage to locate a police station in the town in which she resides or pick up a phone and report their 5th/6th grade daughter as missing? I do not for believe this was sat on and basically ignored for 3 weeks due to a language barrier, or cultural differences, or lack of a professional translator.

No, sorry, I do not for believe this was sat on for 3 weeks due to a language or cultural barrier or lack of a professional translator.
Yeah NO. Lina Sardar's parents have a huge cultural and language barrier. So no that's not going to fly at all.

Diana Cojocari, 35, and Christopher Palmiter, 60 -- very large age gap between mom and step-dad. Wonder where bio. dad is. Maybe he can shed some light on the family situation.
Different last names. Do we know if they are married or do they just live together? The age 25 year age difference is quite odd but I suppose it happens.

We don't know the situation. What I was suggesting personally in my own post did not include the stepfather having any language barriers, which I don't personally believe he has.
I was suggesting that from the youtube video and lack of/slow information about the mother, she may be a victim also.
I'm imagining a woman who moved country to live in America, marrying a man considerably older than her, and then not being able to make friends, go to the store, or talk to parents at school or neighbours because she cannot communicate. Having total reliance on her husband, who had, what looks like a very good job that could pay for the house. maybe he took of advantage of that or maybe he encouraged it by controlling her life?
This is all IMO and speculation.
It was just my first impression.
I could be completely wrong and they are just evil people.
JMO.

I don't believe that pets names would be blacked out.
So they must be people. Little people?
I think maybe they were blacked out just in case they weren't pet names.

It looks like a skin condition to me.
I agree. I thought initially she may be getting over a black eye, but if I zoom it appears to be a trash down on her eyelid. It also appears to be in the corner of her right eye.

I'm curious too about the stockings. We have stockings for my parents and my MIL so maybe something like that.

Where are the reporters here? I know it just broke but it's so weird I would think local reporters would be on this case.
It’s in our local news - 3 stations are reporting for sure, one of which was at the house last night when the yard was searched, a community publication has reported it. Some of the most recent articles are:

WCCB - written 12/16/2022 and updated 12/17/2022
* This article has a video of the search last night

WCNC - written 12/17/2022

WBTV - written 12/17/2022

Cornelius Today - written 12/17/2022

That's what I was thinking too. We always put up stockings for our pets so I thought maybe they did as well. It is possible the pets have 'human' sounding names so they were blurred out just in case?

It seems like there might have been a statement by LE if children had been taken from the home and given to CPS though. JMO

I agree with you that stepdad does not have a language barrier. I also agree that we don't know the situation, we can only go by what pieces we have and brainstorm what we think may possibly be going on. I am of the (possibly unpopular) opinion that once something as serious as your 11 year old "going missing" occurs, any possible reliance on or fears of your partner that you may or may not have should be secondary to reporting that.

It's pretty cold here right now and we've had non-stop rain for at least a week. No good news will come from this. Something happened and the parents tried to cover it up, IMO. No one is out doing searches for the girl which leads me to believe they know she isn't alive. This is a wealthy, low crime area. It's very rare to see a story like this in our area. Victoria Bay is a decent neighborhood. My kids have friends that live there as well.

This can't be about a cultural or language barrier if they managed to find at least one job and actually purchase a home.
I hope the full truth is soon told about what happened to Madalina.
