I just checked the Onslow County, NC, court docket for Kimrey, and there were no entries for him.

I'm a FB member - and looked - but I don't see "where" this Feb. 1st date is?? But I do have a note in my stuff that his next hearing was going to be early 2021 - January or in February. So I'm thinking this date could be correct!

Wow, @Mica! A big thanks for the details!
He's in lotsa trouble, isn't he? What an idiot -- did he really think her sweet but battered little body wouldn't be found?
Who but a monster would do this to a perfect little 3 year old?

If this gets to trial, I feel confident that a jury would vote for the DP for this horrible crime.
And if he does plead down to LWOP, please know that in NC, Life Without Parole is indeed life in prison with no parole. Period.

In my notes I have for the 2/1 hearing that the defense has about 30 motions filed.... guess it will take awhile for those, eh?

I just checked the NC dockets (all counties, just in case it got moved to another venue) and there were no entries for our Kimrey in any county in NC -- but many counties don't list court events on the public site until only a few days in advance.

And yes, re MSM, I just checked and the last entry I saw was December 6, 2019. Ho-hum.
Local MSM has it pretty tuff these days -- lower advertising revenues, less readership/subscriptions, not as much revenue from vending machines, and less presence or demand in the usual stores, etc.

*Pretrial Hearing (@ ET) - NC - Mariah Kay Woods (3) (Nov. 27, 2017, Onslow County; found Dec. 2, 2017in Shelter Creek in Pender County) - *Adolphus Earl Kimrey II (32/now 35) (BF of Mom) arrested & charged (12/2/17) & indicted (2/23/18) with 1st degree murder, felonious child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury resulting in death & felony concealing a death, obstruction of justice, felony 2nd degree burglary, felony larceny & misdemeanor possession of stolen property. Plead not guilty. Held on no bond. DA will seek DP.
The cause of death was chloroform toxicity. Details of death sealed, search warrants & 911 call were unsealed Feb. 24, 2018.
Trial was set to begin on 9/9/19-was continued to 2/22/21 will probably be cancelled due to COVID-19.
7/18/18 Autopsy released, next pretrial hearing on 4/23/18 & trial date set for Sept. 9, 2019.
4/14/19 Update: Hearing set for 4/18/19. 6/16/19 Update: Next hearing on 8/6 am session. Trial for 9/9/19 has been delayed.
12/5/19 Update: Trial is scheduled to take place on Feb. 22, 2021. Will have pretrial hearing 2/1/21. Defense expected to file about 30 motions.
1/30/21 Update: North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Cheri Beasley extended the postponement of jury trials to July 31 in accordance with the safety of those who could be affected by court operations. No trials could be extended past the August 1 date depending upon COVID-19.

Onslow County District Attorney Ernie Lee said in an email to The Daily News that due to COVID-19 issues, the trial is being rescheduled.

The Daily News has reached out to Lee along with Onslow County Superior Court Judge Charles Henry for clarification as to when the trial could be rescheduled. Originally, the trial was scheduled for Feb. 22, The Daily News previously reported.

Judge Henry's office explained there is not a set date and they are waiting for "things to clear up." They are hoping to start jury trials back up on March 1.

The DA's office has dealt with COVID-19 restrictions for just shy of a year. In June, the DA's office became backed up with trial cases but was able to make significant progress in moving non-jury trial cases either with plea deals or scheduling special sessions to alleviate the backlog.

In January, Chief District Court Judge Sarah Seaton announced all district court hearings in Onslow, Duplin, Jones and Sampson were postponed until Feb. 26.

When the DA announced the trial date in 2019, Lee added Onslow only has one superior court judge and adding another would help alleviate the backlog of thousands of cases and more than a dozen murder cases. Lee's office handles cases in Duplin, Jones, Onslow and Sampson counties as well as coordinating cases with other counties.

No surprise about the delay, really, but it's very helpful to hear some real info. So Kimrey is still bunking in the Onslow County jailhouse, I assume. I'm sure he is one popular fellow with the other guys...
