It's an interview with the bio dad and his fiancee. Near the end of it they explain how they've been having trouble getting access, they've been fighting for custody but couldn't afford all the lawyers fees. They said that they felt the children were better off with them than with bio mom, and they said that in the bio mom's care the children had all sorts of abuse....physical, emotional, and sexual. They were crying and upset all through the interview, but they broke down even more when they spoke of these things.

I hope they told authorities and filed affidavits about the physical and sexual abuse. Police would have to respond immediately to an allegation like that. We know that child protective services lets things fall through the cracks all the time, unfortunately.

Who says that? I can't watch the video because of the Flash thing!
The step mother says that the children were being physically, emotionally, mentally and sexually abused.

I believe the bio dad said he found out through the media.

He heard the AA come on.
What a horrible way to find out your daughter is missing :(

I believe they said that's why the children were removed and placed with them in the first place. So it was reported and was in their CPS file. I have no clue how on earth the children were placed back with her, even if the dad didn't have the money for lawyers. That's messed up. We have to do better.

PLEASE! Links needed for the following claims:

1. Mariah's belongings were found in the woods.

2. Mariah's pajamas were found in her room after she went missing, so she was wearing just underwear out in the cold.

3. Mom and boyfriend borrowed a suitcase from a neighbor before they went to KY.

Any other rumors we need to dispel/validate?

This is kinda off-topic but...

I've noticed that there are multiple threads for some cases. For instance, with this one I noticed there was another thread that got locked and the discussion was moved to this thread, labeled as #2. Is there a particular reason why this is done or is it more to control the number of posts in any one thread?

I don't believe for a minute she wandered off or was abducted. When I hear "live in boyfriend" makes me cringe. It sounds like Dad did not have custody for very long even though there was a CPS case. The police have got to suspect Mom and her BF are not being truthful. This has disaster written all over it. Mom does not even work. She depends on whatever dope she is dating to support her and the kids. There is my 2 cents.

.

You don't have to put concerned parents "on display". They will put themselves out there.

Exactly and if they don't want to put themselves on display for the voyeuristic masses then who are we to question that. They will talk when they want too.

This is a very sad case that I am just reading about.

What I dont understand is how the Mom saw the child a full hour earlier when she checked on her but the boyfriend was the last person to see the child because he says he told the child to go back to bed around midnight.

So if the boyfriend was actually the last one to see the child then where was he and why didnt the Mom also see the child then? Werent they both in the same room?
You would think they both would have seen her at the same time.

"Kristy Woods told WITN-TV in Greenville that she last saw Mariah about 11 p.m. Sunday when she checked on her. She said her boyfriend saw the child about midnight when she got up and he told her to go back to bed."

ETA: And from same link then this below cant be true because she said the boyfriend saw the child at midnight so why is she saying after 11pm here. She should have said after midnight unless she herself does not believe the boyfriend.

"Kristy Woods told authorities she thinks Mariah Kay Woods was abducted from their home near Jacksonville sometime after 11 p.m. Sunday."

[Bolded & underscored by me]

I, too, am bothered by the inconsistent/waffling in the timeline reporting, without any explanation. Initially (see Thread #1), all reports (which I would assume came from the mother who reported Mariah as missing) early on said that the boyfriend was the last to see Mariah -- when she awoke at midnight and he told Mariah to go back to bed. Then, later reports ceased any mention of this "sighting" by the boyfriend.

Do we know that the boyfriend ever made such a statement himself? If so, did the boyfriend later "recant" his previous statement about having seen her because it implicated him? Or was this reference otherwise retracted by the mother, after discussion between the two, for the same reason? Changing your story doesn't sit well with LE, as we all know. If that is what occurred, then this is very suspicious (IMO) and makes for the appearance of collusion. This makes LE wonder: What do they have to hide?

The 9-1-1 call would be very telling. I wish they would release it.

My personal opinion is that the mother was in bed, asleep, and the boyfriend had not yet gone to bed and was still up -- in the living area. Then, there was a visitor to the mobile home at around midnight, which caused Mariah to get up out of bed (to find out what was going on--as kids will do). The mother may have awakened and been aware that there was a visitor, and heard the exchange between the boyfriend and Mariah where he told Mariah to go back to bed. This is where her statement, that the boyfriend was the last to see Mariah, originated (IMO).

The mother may not have gotten out of bed at that time and then drifted back to sleep. That is the point after which Mariah "disappeared" (or was "abducted"). I'm with the bio dad who is not buying the abduction theory.

In my opinion, finding out if there was a visitor, and who it was, is the subject of investigation right now. This has to be the reason that LE is asking for information on anyone who interacted with the family around the time of Mariah's "disappearance."

If there was a visitor, nobody (who knows anything) is talking about it (including the visitor) -- for whatever reason. I mean who goes to visit someone at midnight after the family, with 3 kids and school the next day, has just returned from a Thanksgiving trip? What was it that was so important that it couldn't wait until the light of day?

All of this is pure speculation on my part.

That's my bad on the pj thing.
For some reason, I thought the media had reported that Mariah was wearing only underwear when she went missing.
I thought the mom and bf mentioned it, but I can't find any links saying that.

That they did not go to Kentucky. How do we know that for sure? I realize that off limits sources show that boyfriend may not have, but I have not seen any source at all showing where mom and kids were.

Threads always get closed when they get to a certain number of posts.

When we reach around a thousand posts, a new thread is created.

Usually if a thread reaches 1000 posts or more, the mods lock it up and start a new one. It's easier to control/moderate the threads. Imagine how hard it would be to keep track of everything if we only had 1 thread with 3000 posts!

I believe the NCMEC poster originally said she was wearing pink & white panties, but doesn't list any other clothing.

I recall reading that in the media too, because they specified the color of the underwear (and referred to them as panties, and I hate that word), which I think were pink and white.

Pj’s started early on thread one, there is a link to a interview with someone claiming to be Mariahs aunt (I can’t get it to play so haven’t watched it) who according to the poster of the link, mentions the pjs being beside the bed ... but it is from the carcrash-journo-tv Which got (rightly) outlawed later in thread 1.

e.t.a it seems the Amber Alert itself contained the information that she was last seen wearing panties http://bnonews.com/news/index.php/news/id6781
She was last seen wearing white and pink panties, according to the amber alert.
