Nah, it is not the most devastating.It's heartbreaking that the happiest ending possible to this story happens to also be the most devastating.
It would be way worse, had she been killed by her husband.
It would be way worse, had she been killed by another man after leaving.
It would be way worse, had she offed her whole family instead of leaving.
It would be way worse, had she committed suicide.
I guess she saw no other way out of whatever situation she was in than to up and leave. I am proud she chose leaving over any of the options above, even though of course I am sad for her children.
Without knowing the relationship dynamics, I'm not going to judge her. I hope she built a better life for herself and I hope her children can heal.
