I hate that the perp had 2 days to get rid of evidence. I am pretty sure VOH said that there are 3 burn barrels out back of the bar. Just hope he wasn't smart enough or didn't have access to use them.
I wonder if Kelli even asked this guy for a ride home. I am starting to think she didn't, he is the only one we have heard that from.

Quite stupid to burn the body in one of those barrels. DNA extraction is quite routine nowadays for identification purposes of burnt victims.

Hi all,

I don't post much but do read and try to keep up with the various threads.
I think we at WS are at an advantage by keeping up with what these
victims have gone thru.
I believe that women still remain unaware of their surroundings, make
poor judgement calls etc.
Those that are thinking of divorce please, please get to a safe place
and then make that call. I can't even begin to name those that didn't.
Susan Powell comes to mind. A tragedy for so many family members.
I'm even aware of walking to the end of my driveway. I'm aware
now of parking garages, parking next to a van etc.
All learned from reading the tragedies that have come to light here
at WS.
I'm not putting any blame on Kelli here, however you do have to watch
yourself, for one, the strangers out there.
I wouldn't go to a club alone now ever. I'd certainly not leave with
a guy I really don't even know.
But these put victims like Kelli, sadly do not think of the dangers.
I don't know if it's their youth and they are so trusting.
I believe that could be said in years gone by; but not in today's world.
Just too too much danger out there. Most of all if possible even
the buddy system would probably prevent some of these tragic
situations.
I believe this is all do to the state of the world now; and/or maybe
we just didn't hear of it as much!
I just had to get that once again out there. Please, please please
talk with your loved ones regarding stranger/danger etc.
If it helps just one girl/woman then that's a start. JMO
Thanks for the ears lol

My questions are

1. How long had Nick and the guy who was playing pool with Kelli they night she met nick known eachother.

2. Was nick living in the lean too with another person .

3. what kind of car was Nick driving

And does anyone know his birthday off hand? I didnt tag the post I saw it in and have been using alot of time checking in on WS members who are needing extra prayers . It has been a stressful ,painful week for many people . Count blessings everyday and dont forget those who need them.

His birthdate is: 11-02-1986

Same with Scott Peterson and Josh Powell. They all ran their mouths because they were full of it. They were more concerned with themselves than the case. Same with Nick. I think LE wanted to keep Nick close while they wait for DNA results to come back. They might also be trying to prevent any other rapes from happening although I'm sure they were watching every move he made.

I think they wanted to wait until they knew he wouldnt get out of Jail.As long as he is charged with the a crime relating to the car fraud then his lawyer is not representing him on any other charges once he gets one.

So I think he is headed for a grand jury indictment before charges are laid. MOO

You dont get lawyers for crimes you might be charged with appointed to you. He will be required to answer questions even if they have to call him in as a witness to a grand jury to decide if they are going to charge him. I dont believe he gets an appointed lawyer for that grand jury ,unless he hires one.

I'm glad that VOH came back and updated us last evening. I had to sign off since I'd been hogging the computer all day, actually have been for the last few days and DH was beginning to get itchy lol. Since it has been now confirmed that Mike was indeed in Florida the only two people who are on my radar are this male friend and Nick. I'm beginning to fall over the edge of the fence and leaning toward Nick. Something just doesn't sit right with me.

BBM

I thought about this person for a bit too. I mean, it's not impossible that he could have been waiting for Kelli in the parking lot of her apartment. They could have had previous plans or not. But maybe she knew he was there. And that's why she had NH let her out further away, knowing that seeing her with him would make the guy friend upset.

BUT, I would imagine some sort of clue to this could be tracked from her phone. And LE would have already seen such communication and it would've been brought to light. So that's the only reason I'm geared more toward NH as the guilty party. MOO

Drew Peterson comes to mind, and although he was Mr BLING, Nick is just a country boy, but they both talked and talked and talked.....
The Kyron Horman case came to mind for me.She was allowing herself to be interviewed and polygraphed then the police tried their murder for hire sting she hired a lawyer and the case just stalled.Makes me wonder if they gave this guy a poly yet I hope so because they most likely will not be able to give him one now.

can you image the public outrage (not to mention that of the girl he assaulted) if he were not arrested for living behind the bar in tent (and not reporting his location)?

I also personally think they might not need him to "say" anything anymore... and can use what they have found already (my opinion but I bet they have some evidence) as leverage to get him to talk.

wonder if he has any family or friends that will put up the 100k for his bail?

I doubt it, since he didn't have family or friends giving him a place to sleep ^i^

I really question why they arrested this guy on these unrelated charges. This guy was talking to everyone. The police, the press better to keep him talking and keep bringing him in for interviews as long as possible. Now that he has been arrested he will qualify for a public defender and the first thing his lawyer will do is tell the police not to question him any more.

That may be best - you know, 'you have the right to remain silent' and keeping compliant within the law.

I don't think that the burn barrels were mentioned as to burning a body, my thoughts were that clothing or related material could have been burned after the fact.

Followup on the social networking site report I made to NC LE departments in December:

I did not save the screenshots before, as I had already passed them on and I wanted to make sure that LE had a record of them. The record had included my own IP information so that if LE did a comprehensive investigation, they would have been able to put into evidence that I would have accessed the site on a certain date and time. In this way, they could have subpoenaed FB to correlate MY contact to the existence of the website. From there, they could have determined the source of the site, including information with regard to creating of the website.

Keep in mind, ANYONE can make a Facebook site, and put in whatever information they want, INCLUDING that of an offender. So LE not only has to determine that the site belongs to an offender, but for determining if a felony crime had been committed, they have to absolutely tie in the offender with the site, and that includes tying in actual visitation data, including times and verified computer usage from identified machines.

Now, for the most part I got the feeling the sites were real (that is, not created by an outside agent), so to that end, a felony violation is in order. However, I don't get the feeling that prosecutors have passed on to LE that they want to prosecute these cases unless there is actual intent of abuse of a child or victim on the site, or there was corroborating or ancilliary activity by the offender that would warrant charges. Keep in mind, most of the charges about social networking sites in NC are brought about in ADDITION to other charges. It's like a seat belt law not being enforced unless the driver were caught speeding, for instance.

Now, you and I may be horrified (and indeed, I'm livid). But the problem facing many of the departments are a combination of several factor, not the least of which is COST. It costs departments thousands of dollars per arrest, including investigation, incarceration, court costs, etc. And while they take registration of addresses seriously, as they denote physical presence, they haven't gotten the message that online presence can be just as deadly.

But I DID find something interesting: When I revisited the 80 names on Facebook that matched the NCSOR, I found most of them had been deleted. In other words, I would imagine that someone probably got word to the offender, and they either deleted the page; alternatively, someone posted a deletion request to Facebook. In either case, no arrests were made, and I presume no investigation into a felony was ever started.

In any case, the Internet is too ubiquitous to be able to monitor for every offender UNLESS they are completely banned from access altogether. In addition, lawsuits have been filed by RSO's with regard to Internet usage. Louisiana is one state whose felony RSO usage of Internet laws has been ruled unconstitutional by a Clinton-appointed federal judge. First amendment rights, etc.

But for the immediate case in NC, there is no real clamor to arrest every offender with a FB account. If enough people complained, then it may get noticed. But the problems of enforcement, including the costs, would only be starting.

In January of 1975, my friends were on the buddy system and were abducted and one killed by the Zebra Killers..one lived...
We (my age) took probably more risks in the late 60's and early 70's..I always gave hitchhikers a lift..I really can't believe the danger I put myself in and I was lucky to never have been hurt ^i^

Re: the burn barrels
I did not say nor mean to imply that they would be used to burn her body...but they could be used to burn clothes...or some other easily burnable evidence.

Todd, his facebook was deleted yesterday fwiw (or at least it was there one minute and gone the next)

Errands? Housekeeping? Childcare? :) ^i^

o/t :blushing: actually I've been up and down, throwing a load in, then dryer, another load, etc. I loose my place here, can't catch up, etc. Luckily it's not moving very fast here. Over at the DD thread it is - still no sign of her.:please:

And the DNA can still be extracted from THOSE items, if not thoroughly contaminated. Forensic Files should be required viewing for every person on WS.

Wait a minute....did she drive herself, in her own car to the bar? If so, was he driving her home in her car? If that was the case it makes NO sense that she would ask him to drop her off where he says he did! What is he saying? Do you really think she would let him take off with her car and just walk home...pick up her car from him at another time? Really doesn't make sense to me. Do we even know what car was used?

Let's not forgot they may be dealing with someone that isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

He picked her up and "dropped her off" using his own car.

Todd - I'm wondering if you know, are their any other people, such as in other states doing what you are, monitoring FB's of sex offenders? I am in Pennsylvania and if no one has yet to begin here, then I certainly will.
