NC - Shaniya Davis, 5, 11/10/09 TRIAL THREAD

Seth C told jurors from the witness stand that he was a Comfort Suites guest the evening of November 9.

His room was on the same floor as McNeill. On the morning of the 10th, he woke up between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. and went downstairs for breakfast before returning to his room for checkout paperwork. When he got off the elevator on the 2nd floor, he said he noticed McNeill carrying a child who he thought was a boy at the time as he could only see hair, head, and torso. He said McNeill nodded at him, and the child flipped hand to acknowledge him.

C said the thing that caught his attention was the way McNeill was holding the child, over the shoulder.

Witness says he saw McNeill, Shaniya at hotel in Sanford
A chance encounter on a business trip to Sanford led Seth Chambers to a face-to-face encounter with Mario McNeill and Shaniya Davis, the 5-year-old girl McNeill is accused of raping and murdering in November 2009.
Their paths crossed a mere two seconds or so, but Chambers, a general contractor from the town of Clyde, would be one of the last people to see the child alive.

Thanks for going above and beyond with your experiment Sloane ;)

at her age and size tho, I have always found it easier to have children riding my hip at that point. Maybe it could be explained by a lack of experience carrying children but I don't think so because he has baby mamas which means he has kids.

No you are right about the hip its much easier! I dont think guys tend to carry like that though, I dont know, Ive never seen my Hubby do that ?

Oh my, I just had a sigh of relief, that means she was comfortable enough to wave at a stranger (I hope that was a wave) sounds like she was ok at that point ....... me thinks maybe the evidence at the trailer WAS after the hotel, but before he dumped her! I really want to believe she did not know that fear hours before she was killed ( tears hit my keyboard every time I post now, poor sweet Babygirl )

Just watched channel 11's early, 4:00 news cast. Saw some of the testimony of the guy with the dog who actually located Shaniya's body. IIRC, his team was here purchasing dogs for, was it the Virgin Islands? His team was here picking up and training dogs they'd purchased here to take back with them. He described his dog locating the body hidden under a log in the area with deer carcasses. Tried to find a link for his testimony online, but the story wasn't posted yet. I thought camera's were barred from the courtroom? How are we able to see these witnesses testimony, yet not be able to watch the trial?

I just saw this article "brother gives shakey ID" yikes! but Im still not worried!

Poor baby.
He was only 7 at the time and it has been almost 4 years.

But I know they questioned him when it happened and I'm sure they have those reports.
I remember reading one years ago.

IIRC he said they gave Shaniya "milk" looking stuff and it made her really sleepy.
He saw a lot. Too much evil for a 7 year old to have to see.

I hope he's happy and healthy somewhere where he is told he is loved every day.

Agreed poor little boy, if you can find anywhere that has any of that info I would love to see it, that's the missing link for me its driving me nuts, I hope he gets adopted and can get past this in his adult life, they have ruined so many lives with this! I detest this 🤬🤬🤬

Testimony in Mario McNeill's murder trial describes search for Shaniya's body
A former canine officer with the Virgin Islands Police Department testified this afternoon that he and his dog discovered the body of 5-year-old Shaniya Davis in thick kudzu off N.C. 87, six days after she was reported missing in November 2009.
Cornel Esprit, who was a canine handler for three years, said he and four other officers from the Virgin Islands were in Sanford for search dog training at Tar Heel Canine Training Inc.

I worried that it was described as rather a half hearted wave if that and it made me think maybe she was trying to call attention to herself but was fearful of McNeil and the consequences if she raised a ruckus. :( A sort of plea.

I much prefer your interpretation.

Thanks you guys. Today was my youngest, DS, 9th birthday and it was a hectic day at work. First opportunity to really check in on the trial.

I really appreciate you for posting the tweets, articles and links about today's testimony.

(I have been following the JA trial way too closely and missed that today as well, but wanted to share that I had a hard time typing the word testimony up there because the JA trial has me automatically trying to type testiphony whenever I try to use that word )

Yes I prefer it too:) but it could go either way, I'm hoping she was too little to really know that she should fear him and not to cause a ruckus, I know my younger girl in a similar situation would not be kept quiet, my older one who is now 26 ( yes I have a 6 and a 26 yr old, both at home ,call me nuts) probably would have kept quiet out of fear, I really do not understand even the most coked up guy would have gone home to his gf a grown woman, even though the other women didn't answer his text, he had some at home, ick again, I wonder how much guilt the lady that he was supposed to meet that fell asleep has, who knows if she was hooking up with MAM who already lived w someone, maybe not much:confused:

Police testify during fifth day of McNeill trial
The Fayetteville police officer who headed the search for a missing 5-year-old girl in 2009 testified Friday that a tip from the suspect’s attorney led to the discovery of her body.
Charles Kimble – now an assistant chief for the Fayetteville Police Department - testified Friday, the fifth day of the trial of Mario Andrette McNeill, who is charged in the kidnapping, rape and murder of Shaniya Davis. He told the jury he was a captain during the search for Davis, who had been reported missing by her mother in November 2009.

Jurors hear about finding Shaniya Davis' body
Mario McNeill's defense team Friday tried to keep the jury hearing his case from learning exactly how investigators came to learn where 5-year-old Shaniya Davis' body was found.

Does anyone know if the blanket was the same as the one found at the trailer park or a different one, I thought I have seen the trailer park blanket reffered to as a comforter ???
