Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and signed up to websleuths in order to keep updated on Shaniya's case. I have never been affected by a case like this and not a day goes by when I don't think about the little angel. Seeing her pictures really tugs at my heart strings and like many of you, I have been very frustrated with the little and no information we have been getting lately. I understand they are building their case and can possibly take a good amount of time for us to see real justice be served...as was the case with Christopher Michael Barrios. But I am willing to stand watch until justice finally comes for Shaniya.

Kiss, I know exactly how you feel. I finally signed up here for Shaniya as well.
Cannot get her out of my mind/heart. "Stand watch" is a great term. I stand with you, as all on this thread.

This is my first post - but I also wanted to say that I too joined due to Shaniya.. This story has broken my heart and has worried my husband many times when he walks up to see me crying while reading this message board. We have young grandchildren and the thought of this happening to them brings out a ferocious protective streak in both of us.

Empty me too. At this point we can only read, watch, and wait. Should the case seem to be going in a positive direction for perps we can raise he!!. It's all I know to do as well. So frustrating and unfair for sweet Shaniya.

Ranson, Justice can never come for Shaniya. I am desperate to know someone who committed this crime will not thrive and enjoy life , something they saw to it that Shaniya would not do. Plus her suffering is so heartbreaking, no one can suffer as much. We all feel like we want the guilty parties to know the pain but we also know they never will. I guess in answer to your question, I want a public hanging or I would love to be that person who gives the lethal injection. In todays society so many of these abusers are not punished or punishment is too lenient. jmo

Shaniya, I thought of you thia morning as I went out to feed the dogs and it was soooo cold. I know you're now somewhere warm and dry and cared for. I'll be planting your flowers today as soon as the ground warms enough to get the bulbs in. We're supposed to have some rain tomorrow so that should help them settle in.

The situation our world left you in still breaks my heart daily. But wherever you are- know that you are truly and deeply loved by many here on earth.

JUSTICE would be a great start.
Her mom is in jail and we fear that she may not be charged on all her contributions to her child's demise. She has not yet been formally charged :furious:
The Child Trafficking Case not only for Shaniya but as a result of her is HUSHED completely because of political Agenda...MOO

A public hanging would be nice it may scare the chit out of others who think this is going to go away. But we are not a barbaric country so lets just begin with formal charges.
AND with more done to stop trafficking children and young adults for sexual slavery.

This hush, hush is not comforting at all.

I am very uncomfortable that ll the formal charges are not yet n place.

I will also state that Shaniya's bio-person has not yet been charged. Why is that, and what are they waiting for? To me she is as guilty as the murderer. There are others like me who have been lurking for years, and this is the case that made us join. Am finding it difficult to understand how wanting justice can be equivocated with panic, and freaking out.

No one wishes this case to be worse than it is. Are you a Mother, or Father? If so, then surely you can understand the feelings regarding this case.

I want something positive to be found in this.
I want child protection agencies that do their jobs.
I want prosecutors that don't worry about the election, only the results.
I want child prostitution to be an offense that lands you in prison for the rest of your life, no ifs and or buts.
I want a law written in Shaniya's name, that does some good.
I want hotels to start asking for birth certificates on minor children.
I want the missing located forum to never have another case with the little maroon Found Deceased tag.
And I want every single parent, step parent and care giver in this country to see that video of MAM carrying her into that elevator...and I want them to understand, FULLY understand what was waiting for her when the doors opened.
And I want those parents and care givers to realize that without due diligence, it could be their child next time.

I wish you peace too. I had a great Christmas with my friends/family. Yes, I am a mother. I have two bio-children, a husband and two adopted children. Thanks for asking. All of our initials make up my Nic ... Ransom.

AD was arraigned. No "formal" charges yet, because her attorney was granted a motion to continue until Feb. 17, 2010, from the last I read. I'm not in a panic. I guess I believe in the LAW and Lady Justice takes her own sweet time. I guess I am staying the course from the beginning until the end. I want those that hurt/harmed/murdered/raped/sold Shanyia to be punished by all the laws in NC. I will wait. I am patient. MAM will be back in court in/around Jan. 10.2010 unless more "lawyer" wranglings! It happens.

I have faith in the "system". I have faith in the LAW. Maybe I am older than most here? I'll wait.

There are some people interested in running for office (cant remember name, I have a wondering mind )
and there is a hush on this case....I realize it is Holiday time, and cant Waite to hear more come January. but I am concerned, and I had hoped that this case will put a huge spot light on the problem of child trafficking, which should remain in the lime light even if the next court date for Shaniya will not be till next month...Just feels like a hush.

Might want to sit down (or not ... lol) because the Defense can stall/hold out for a very long time with motion after motion after motion. Won't work, imo, but the public defender will use any/all excuses (within the law) to make her sympathetic. IMO.

It can take years to come to court. It does not take years to charge someone. if you cant charge them within a fair time frame (I am not sure what that time frame is)eventually you need to release them.
This is not about motion after motion, it is about her getting charged, and about them not hushing the child trafficking issue too.
You are welcome to your opinions by all means... I do not agree and that is OK with me.
I do hope you are right though and that it will be handled really soon.
But no body is having any melt downs, nobody is flipping out, and nobody is blowing a gasket.
