Its too bad that the lawyers defending MAM and using great resources to do so are at taxpayer expense. Who wants their taxes used to defend a child rapist and murderer?
(Assuming that he is guilty.)

Jan it would be far worse if he did not get proper representation and SOB got let lose
because of a technicality, or something....

No one, I think.
But... at least our system is based on 'innocent until proven guilty.' Even if it so frequently doesn't work- the idea is good. The United States is fortunate in that regard. Many countries do not have that freedom, or the freedom to a fair trial.

(Please don't misunderstand- I hate the perpetrators of this crime with all of my heart and hope they get exactly what they deserve.)

Bumping my own post again, for you baby girl.
You are not forgotten despite the lack of media coverage lately re: your case. Your flowers are still going to be planted on Christmas Eve.

Still thinking of Shaniya everyday. This lull is great. Means people are working hard to get things just right. I agree with posts stating we don't want these monsters to get off on some BS loopwhole or mistake.
Best that the state takes their time and crosses every T and dots every I.

Still praying for Shaniya and all who love her.

And to those who hurt her, may you rot.

I wonder how long it took the attorney to find a legitimate reason to back away slowly.

Not that I blame him, but some cases not even the defense attorneys want. If you're assigned the case, it's a little different than choosing to accept the client...seems no one wants their name associated with McNeill.

Too little too late, but I'd like to think he is taking a stand in his own way against this crime and the creeps that were complicit in it.

Good question.
He is quoted in this article saying he was contacted by The Office of the Capital Defender.

I know it's a job, but who would want to defend monsters????

Hi...I was just thinking about poor little Shaynia..

I for one really hope that they do take their time and build solid cases against these creeps and anyone involved in any way

I followed the sad case of Jessica Lunsford....sloppy police work meant that Couey's confession was thrown out (but he was still convicted and given death penalty, died of cancer in prison)....

his horrible sister, neice and their boyfriend/dealer were in the small trailer for days while a little girl was raped...but they all walked, never can be charged...cause the cops were stupid and did not read them their rights...duhh to the keystone kops

that has always infuriated me

I hope that LE takes their time, follows the rules, dots every i, crosses every tee and puts these monsters onto a guerney with a needle in an airtight case

Just a thought...I wonder if BD has cut some sort of deal from the start?? state's evidence, state's witness maybe?? Also Coe?? Maybe they will give the evidence against AD regarding "selling" her precious child??

I see at more as the desire for our justice system to work the way it was designed to, and that includes the accused having a defense. They may defend the monsters, but they also defend the good people accused of being monsters.

I may not want to be a defense attorney, but I understand their role, and I refrain from downtalking the profession, in case I ever need them to defend me against a false accusation. (Or a true one for that matter.)

I did not follow that case, but that would infuriate me too.
LE should knew that one in their sleep, that should never be an excuse to let those people walk.
Cops did not read them thier rights :banghead:

I haven't forgotten about a little angel Shaniya either.

New article today:

Manager defends Sleepy Hollow Mobile Home Park
<snipped> "I need to give you a more accurate overview of the people who live here," writes Barbara Davenport, manager of the mobile home park. "I have a tenant who's been here since 1978. She worked at the phone company as an operator for over 20 years, until she had a stroke. She's now disabled and I don't think she ever wants to leave us. I have a handful of military retirees and several folks who are disabled due to strokes, heart conditions and the like. One of my military retirees is a security guard on Fort Bragg and another is a deacon at a nearby church. I have several restaurant employees ...

I could swear that I read something similar before, I think she is defending her little park so people don't stigmatize it, it does not matter what she says, that place will forever be Saynaiya's last home.

I believe Shaniya was at her last* home *when she stayed with Aunt C.
this last place was the torture chamber:furious:

I can't say that I blame Barbara Davenport...she seems like she is trying to do the best she can in a very poor, old trailer park...
and she had the good sense to deny AD a lease there...and also was in the process of throwing out BD for non payment etc

and there probably are decent elderly and working poor people there

It wasn't the trailer park that killed Shaynia...it was MAM, AD...

and I also blame those who sent her to there...the pictures of Sleepy Hollow and BL's nice house are just such a contrast as to be ridiculous

I wouldn't send a cat to board with AD and her gang at Sleepy Hollow

I call it like I see it....unfit parents....uncaring parents....and sloppy underbudgeted "social services" that are determined to keep "the family" together even when common sense would tell you that lots of these parents aren't fit to raise a turtle

Just an odd thing I noticed in the articles about the DSS involvement

This one says what we have heard >> just the boy
http://fayobserver.com/Articles/2009/12/07/958494

BUT this one says "Shaynia and her 7 year old son" !!!

Family members told ABC11 Eyewitness News DSS investigated Shaniya's mother, Antoinette Davis, in the past. However, Davis was allowed to keep Shaniya and her 7-year-old son.

http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/local&id=7157137

Of course the reporting has been bad as usual...and I am infuriated that no one from Nancy to Oprah to the local stations ever asks the questions I would ask of BL and CLD such as "when did Shaynia go there...how many times had she stayed there before...did you go in the trailer? did you call her...did she have a cell phone?"

oh and of course the biggie : "what the h//ll were YOU thinking?? "

But of course we all have to tippy toe around irresponsible people and hug them and give them tea and sympathy....poor guy...he's sorry....let's donate to his foundation
awww...he can't even afford a funeral himself....poor guy ....NOT (*not from me anyhow LOL)

I think some hard questions have to be answered by a lot of people

That place was not a home, it was her final legal residence.
I don't blame the park for Shaniya's death, however, the place was synonymous with scum long before now.
Lipstick on a pig, KWIM?

OK play on words...
It was the last place Shaniya resided, and no matter what the owner of the trailer park will say or do that trailer park has been stigmatized as a place with a bad vibe, and while the people are poor there; poor is not a reason a place gets
a bad wrap...not because of their social status.
I do not blame the owner for trying hard to change that reputation. but it has been forever stigmatized as the place AD and her drug infested family lived with Shayniya.

The point I made stays the same. :)
