NC NC - Shannon Rippy VanNewkirk, 54, Wilmington, 5 April 2014 *GUILTY

Thanks so much for the welcome! I have really enjoyed reading this board and the amount of continued research and thought going into this issue. I live less than 2 miles from Bradley's apartment and about the same from Shannon's, right between them, and I used to live on her street. It was mentioned that crime in Wilmington has increased over the past years, but it's true that so much of it is gang related, this is a real shocker for us living here.
My feeling is also that J.O.B. is possibly a serial killer. But I also appreciate the fact that folks have not just jumped on him, especially considering he is a minority and race is an issue in these parts. It is not unreasonable to consider the "scapegoat" possibility at all...if it weren't for the nature of his initial crime, I would be much more skeptical about just assuming his guilt. I just don't know that someone who could do what he did in the past could ever be rehabilitated. There are crimes we can understand on some level, even violent crimes, and then those that seem so far beyond the scope of humanity, and that's where he is in my mind.

When you mentioned that JOB was a minority and race is an issue in these parts...
That's sad, because up until I read your post, race did not enter into my mind, because it doesn't, and you are right, there are others that don't think like I do, and it is sad that racism is still prevalent.
I know racism exists. I wish it didn't.
IMOO.

I am wondering because both Shannon and Bradley worked on that specific land that the decedent was found on, maybe Bradley buried the body there, because he knew Shannon would not be working that area of land anymore perhaps, and maybe he didn't think he would be fired, so he could then work that land himself, and nobody would know about the decedent.
Thing is, where is Shannon? Did he do something to Shannon, too, and she is buried elsewhere? Or also buried on same property??
I wonder if he was worried that Shannon was going to work this land again, and find the decedent herself, so perhaps he had to get rid of Shannon as well?
Did this decedent see what happened to Shannon, so therefore this decedent was killed as well, perhaps, if Bradley had something to do with both people??
IMOO.

I just quizzed a friend that use to work with her about her. He's known her for years. Not the same guy that lives near where she was found.

He said last he knew she was dating a man in Hampstead. He also said he never knew her to date outside of her race.

I have no proof for either of those.

And that leads me to ask, where is Shannon? And who is this deceased person just found recently? Is there a connection between the deceased and Shannon, like did both know the perp? Or did the perp know Both of them but they did not know each other?
Was someone set up? Is there a scapegoat? Coincidences?
Where is Shannon. Too many questions.....
IMOO.

bbm
Ditto, I say. And the bbm is loudly & clearly true. So simple, those words, Treelights, but the answer prolly will not be simple, as you may agree...

Did Shannon and the other missing-now-found person go out there together? Did they know each other? Did the perp place them out there one by one or at the same time? Is Shannon's body out there, or is it in some location that may have been a landscaping site for Bradley that is nowhere near where the unknown body was found? And how in the world is her poor family handling it?? Do they know any more now? And, and, and... I hope LE is honing in on all our questions and will be able to tell us something on Monday.

I am still reeling at the announcement that the body is not Shannon's -- and I won't be surprised if it turns out that it IS her body... Unless LE and the M.E. are definitively beyond that possibility by now. Would a body still have fingerprints after whatever time elapsed after the body was put there? Since Shannon did have a record with the NC DPS, her prints should be on file... Is that the evidence that was used to prove (if it is proved) it was not Shannon? Dental evidence? Hair comparison? Birthmark? Tattoo? And we all know that coincidences are no such thing in "this business."

I've never seen one like this before... <smh>

Whew. Let me stop. I'm asking endless questions like a 2 or 3 year-old.

But so is everyone else...

"According to Mott, police found the remains around a farm that both Vannewkirk and Bradley had been working."

http://www.wect.com/story/25387900/living-above-an-accused-murderer-bradleys-neighbors-speak

Wow, Treelights -- that article has a lot of interesting info. It says what I and so many of us thought: that LE had Bradley already in their sights for her being missing-probably-murdered, and that they were only waiting to arrest him until they found her body. And there are other very interesting comments.

Thanks for posting it. <smh>

If it does turn out to be Shannon, did he make a move on her and she refused, and he got angry & killed her?

And if it's for sure not Shannon, is it Elisha? I'm thinking yes.

Welcome to WS mahayana! Great first post!

I agree with you about Mr. Mott having too trusting a perception of people. He seems genuinely devastated about Shannon's being missing - possibly murdered. He is even considering closing his business but I hope he doesn't. I don't know Shannon but when I look at the pics of the beautiful roofscapes and landscapes on Mott's website that she helped create, I think she would want him to continue. I just wish in the future he would check the criminal records of his hires before giving them a 2nd chance. JMO

I am glad the law has been corrected so that murderers like Bradley will not be paroled but unfortunately many have already been released back into society. J.O.B. should have never been paroled in the first place. And you are right, the 🤬🤬🤬 was the one changing his appearance, packing his bags and driving around town in a different car than he usually drove. Not that it really matters, but I'd like to know where he got that car.

IMHO, J.O.B. is a psychopath and a serial killer. Those types can be very charming. Ted Bundy is a good example.

I'm so glad you posted and hope you continue to participate in the discussion and our quest to find Shannon.

Has anybody heard if there are any searches for Shannon today?

Apparently, investigators think the remains could be Elisha's according to her mother and she and Elisha's father are being DNA tested.

Unfortunately, investigators said the remains could be Tucker's.

"They're thinking that the body might be her," said Waldron solemnly. "Me and her dad up in Maryland have to do a DNA test."

I posted this link on Elisha's thread the other day and wanted to share it here also.

It's so sad that this jerk was out preying on women, when he should have been in jail for murdering a child. I hope some of these people get some relief. I can't even imagine their pain.

I wish LE would give us an update. What is going on with the body found? Is it male or female? Cause of death, etc. Are they continuing to search the property for Shannon? When will DNA results be back on Elisha? Etc...

This is insane. :-(

This is insane. :-(

Ya know Mrs O, I have been following this case from the start and have never come across a case like this in my couple years here. I think what you said ^^^ just absolutely sums up what I think as well. Just crazy. I am anxious to hear if this is Elisha or not? Where is Shannon? Need some answers here!!!

Hi Claire :seeya: I don't want to assume anything but I infer from msm articles that there is reason to believe the body is a female since LE first thought it was Shannon and then contacted Elisha's mom and dad for DNA. There must have been something- hair, clothing, tattoos, ect.- that made LE think it was Shannon or a female in the first place.

IMO, we won't be hearing anything from WPD until they have some concrete news. Prematurely identifying the UID as Shannon was surely an embarrassment for them. Mr. Dayton, Shannon's brother, did say that WPD contacts him daily with updates. The important thing is that the family is being updated right now. Sure is hard waiting though.

There was also a search for Shannon today. From mahayana's above link....

The hunt for Vannewkirk continued Monday as searchers returned to Hampstead to comb the 15 acres where the body was found last week, as well as other locations, Lt. Tom Witkowski said.

Thanks for the link mahayana!

I was on the very same road where the remains were found yesterday and I saw absolutely no activity at all.

I really want to know if Bradley is talking!? Has there been any word on how they came to that certain spot where the remains were found? I may have read it and forgot. I have my head in so many different cases that I am having a hard time keeping them straight. O/T I give major kudos to those of you who can follow multiple cases and know what is going on in all of them! Whoo!!

If someone could please remind me how they came about this spot, that would be most awesome! Was it because of Shannon and Bradley working there together before? TIA guys for your help!

I have not seen anything about why they decided to search that property. But I know that they contacted the business owner and told them that they believed Bradley was responsible. I assume he pointed them to the land where Bradley had been working. Perhaps he knew that Bradley had been digging on the property. Or maybe they just visited the land and spotted a suspicious area.
