#TeghanSkiba's paternal grandparents had to walk out of courtroom, too much for them to listen to....

this **guy** would do well to sit still as a statue during the verdict without any shaking of his head or emotional response because there is more to follow for him.

If he shook his head or acted aloof after all of that testimony he is in a world of hurt for the penalty phase, imhoo. He has shown no remorse for what he has done the entire time in has affect and he refused to testify in his own defense.

This is one of the quickest verdicts I have EVER witnessed. The time included the selection of a foreperson.

I have to wonder why this guy even wanted to go the mile with a trial. Something is way off with this guy imhoo. He does not strike me as 'intelligent and cunning' in terms of perps.. He strikes me as slightly not knowing what he is getting into (not saying he should not be responsible).. My point is that, I guess, if I were this guy's counsel I would encourage him to enter a guilty plea after discovery at the least. Why did he want this to go to trial? Did he really think that he had any defense???? This guy stood no chance out of the gate yet he goes for a DP trial? something is way off here and I cannot put my finger on it.

I can't recall a plea deal ever being offered to him. If someone else remembers one please comment. From the time the scantest of details about this case began to come out, I think death was the only deal. JMO

Boz is puttin it on this guy.

I searched for a thread for this crime here at WS, but I can't find one.

I too searched WS's for a thread and couldn't find one either. Boz is doing a great cross. If I lived in Wake Co., I'd sure vote for him the coming fall.

I hope someone from the jury speaks at the end, just to let us know some of what they were thinking about all this.

I think they were horrified and saddened and sickened. I suspect they went home every day and had to deal with depression and sadness. Their lives have been put on hold, not just because of the time spent at the courthouse, but because they are probably suffering overwhelming emotions. This is not the type of trial you forget about at the end of the day.

We here at Websleuths all feel so awful without having seen the photographs and the video that they had to witness. I am pretty sure I could not have been on that jury without crying every day. And I am not a crier.

One factor is that it's a legal tactic. From what I have researched, a "not guilty" plea in a death penalty case automatically entitles the defendant to an appeal. And let's face it, the defense isn't working pro bono. They're getting paid by the state of North Carolina (i.e. the taxpayers).

But also, it appears that in the past the monster's grandparents have bailed him out and come to his rescue on more than one occasion. He's been so shielded from any consequences for his actions in the past that it probably never occurred to him that it might not go down that way this time.

RIP Sweet Teghan, the next phase of justice is coming.

I want to know who will give the victim impact statements for Teghan. (part of DP phase)

Whomever does it: they better be good and deserving of her life and what she could have been.

I hope it is NOT her Mom, but her aunt and paternal(?) grandparents. The ones who wanted her. Who thought she was coming to stay with them while her mother was on military training. Who took all those adorable pictures of her growing up. I am sure they miss her every day.

Agreed! I'd rather hear from Teghan's father Jerry, than from her sorry-a$$ed excuse of a mother. JMO

I actually would like the jury to hear from her mother again. (I would like to hear candidly what she has to say as well) I am sure they would like to hear from her again too as she can say more outside of her "testimony" (re: deposition info in discovery and testimony)

I don't know what Teghan's mother could possibly say that wouldn't make her sound like a hypocrite. JMO

Love you avatar, nurse -- that pic is my favorite of all of hers I've seen. In spite of all the horror we have heard, I always smile before I feel sad when I see it. Angel Child.

Like the rest of you, I have so many emotions.....so, so many. I want him killed, I want his life ended for what he did to this angel. Yet, another part of me want him to suffer, really suffer for years to come. So I'm torn.....any easy death with a DP punishment or a long slow death with LWP. I know in prison he would suffer......this I know firsthand from a family member who spent 6 mos there for a DUI conviction. He told me of men being repeatedly raped and tortured while the correctional offers looked the other way. He told me the screams from these men nearly drove him crazy.

Secondly, I remember the poster who posted about her faith being tested. Mine has too, it really has. Why God???? Why did you let this precious being suffer???? Are you there, are you really there God?? I still pray though....I just have to believe in God, heaven, and hell.

Thirdly, I'm haunted continually by JR's grandparents getting a free ticket out of this horrendous tragedy. What is their connection to Bizzell?? to others in the sheriff/legal circle??? This is so wrong on so many, many levels. I blame them so very much as do many others.

Rest in peace precious angel.....you've touched the hearts of so many with your beautiful, precious face and smile. You are loved by many.....so, so loved!!

Thank you all. Caylee brought me here. I don't have a lot to add, so I will just mostly observe. JR is a monster, I hope his gram can not sleep without seeing what her grandson did to Teghan.

I think it may be awhile before we hear anything from them. I feel sure they have some raw sores, STS, too. Can you imagine?

Love your new avatar, gracie! And extra-glad you're hangin' with us! I'm sure you feel like you should for special reasons. :loveyou:

I really, really do not want to see Teghan's "mother" on the stand again. However, I do want to see her in court again, being tried.

I was talking to someone about this last night. I honestly think that he thought his "just lost it" and "PTSD" was going to save him. SO many people now use it as an excuse (Stepp did this too). I really think he thought it was going to work, and I don't know how he thought this... but we know he has a very perverted way of thinking and a sick SICK mind.
