Yes, even without her speaking, the fact that she was a drug informant and had said she had boyfriends in the house is very disturbing. Mrs Eastburn had no idea what she had opened her house to, and I've heard many stories about boyfriends or workmen who come back to rob after having seen the house. Perhaps Julie with her big mouth had told someone that thousands were in the lock box. If only they hadn't zeroed in on Hennis so early on! And look at what it's come to....there is a small chance that he's guilty, but the evidence never fit and there is just too much other stuff there !!!As soon as she was sworn in there was a discussion between the State and Defense and judge. Jury was sent out of the courtroom to the jury room for a very long time while argument went on about her. When the jury was finally brought back in, we never saw her again. Later during deliberation the jury voiced their frustration at not getting to hear the questions and her answers. Jury felt she knew what happened.

That thought had crossed my mind. What makes you feel this way, and what can be done for Hennis now, if true?Yes

Yes, how would he have known that. Unless he checked or heard from deputies? Or is that not possible.....I thought he seemed odd in his interviews, but attributed this to shock....why did police not have more suspicions about him?Listen to his interviews on the old news footage on my website. He said that all the window latches were unlocked and they were

Yes, I heard her say that. Is it telling ?Julie, Katie and the kids went to the county fair that Wednesday before the murders

I totally agree. I was very surprised that he was brought to trial a third timeYes, even without her speaking, the fact that she was a drug informant and had said she had boyfriends in the house is very disturbing. I think you and the jurors did the right thing. The evidence was just too lacking, and there ought to have been a far more aggressive approach to several other persons of interest. Hennis ought to have been one suspect among four or five. The DNA development coming so very late just raises more questions and it's not a settled case IMO.As soon as she was sworn in there was a discussion between the State and Defense and judge. It has a bad smell to it.......seems like revenge for his acquittal.I totally agree. I was very surprised that he was brought to trial a third time

Would he have been able to do the crime and clean up without his wife noticing anything amiss? Do you think police ever suspected him?Yeah because they were unlocked

I agree fully. And about the Mr X cards as well!It seems like Kirby would have to have seen the murderer (or one of them), and she said it was that stringy haired guy and that he was coming from the house. That would also fit the idea of a size 9 shoe it seems. How big was the Seefeldt guy, if that is who you mean? And we have the neighbor who saw the 2 guys in a van sitting out there and supposedly went up there and asked what they were doing. Maybe they were there at Julie's behest. I recall years ago there was some kind of forum that was local to NC, and Julie was on there conversing. I can't really remember what she said. I also at one time found her facebook or myspace page, as well as Hennis' daughter. Feel so bad for his children. What a nightmare.
If someone had really interrogated Julie at the time, she may have cracked. I also think if she is involved and knows who did it, that she is the one who sent the Mr. X cards. She knows Hennis is innocent and she seems like the drama type who would do something like that. No way do I think that whoever slit the throat of a couple of little kids would care enough to send something to police, as if he would feel guilty that Hennis was in jail. Not unless it was someone who was whacked out on drugs and then felt more human later. It just sounds like the kind of melodrama and kooky thing she would do.
Yes. Police ought to have been far more suspicious of Julie, and taken Strombaugh seriously, instead of treating him like a has been. Julie comes across as suspect in that video, for the reasons you state.Wow, just now watching this footage. I've been to that site before and this video must be new. Julie is a piece of work, and seems to really enjoy the attention. I notice how she seems angry that the news people or police are interviewing the other guy and not her. I don't know what to make of her and her Mom's reaction.
I also have always thought it odd how people thought Strombaugh's work was so brilliant in MacDonald's case but dismissed him in this one. What about the DNA under the fingernails of 2 victims? Is it a full profile as well? And also you said there was a full profile from the Y chromosome. Is the Y chromosome from a male found only in seminal fluid, or would it be present in DNA material from say hair, skin or saliva? When they do a DNA test, they just clip off some of the swab and put it in liquid to begin the testing, correct? So if they were to clip off some cotton material from a buccal swab and mix it in with cotton material from a vaginal swab, no one would be able to tell they had done that unless the examined it under a microscope I would think. And when clipping it off and immersing it in liquid and doing the steps to isolate DNA, they wouldn't look at it microscopically until they had the DNA strand pulled up, at which time you could no longer tell if it was semen or saliva or skin cells...is that right? I'm just trying to figure out if it's pretty easy for them to have deliberately or accidentally mixed samples together so they would get Tim's profile? Since they said there were no spermatozoa left in 1989, where did this semen come from?
Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to understand if it's plausible that they pulled a fast one with the DNA. They must have, because I don't think Tim had anything to do with this. Also, the killing in Leland, Mintz (not sure of spelling), it sure sounds similar with the waterbed ad having something to do with it. Is there DNA in her case?
What a mess this all is. Something weird is there is a guy from California that did extremely similar killings, but I've looked and the timing is wrong so it couldn't be him. But they are strikingly similar, and he was blonde and actually looked somewhat similar to Hennis. I can't think of his name just now, but it shows there are crazy people out there who do things like this for no real reason. It takes a special type of monster to do this to kids. That is one thing that makes me hesitate to think Julie would be involved.
One more question while I'm at it Sundrop. Do you think MacDonald is guilty? I have seen some things like the doc False Witness that gives me doubt. I kind of go back and forth on it. He had to have done it, to sometimes thinking maybe not. With Hennis I'm positive Tim is innocent.
Seefeldt seemed smaller than Hennis by a lot. The size 9 would be closer to him.It seems like Kirby would have to have seen the murderer (or one of them), and she said it was that stringy haired guy and that he was coming from the house. That would also fit the idea of a size 9 shoe it seems. How big was the Seefeldt guy, if that is who you mean? Amazing.Found it. David Allen Lucas. He killed several women, 2 in particular he slashed their throats as well as a child in 2 different cases. One little boy who was about 3 and a little girl who was also 3.
