I do not mean to sound as if rape is not a crime.... It is just hard to watch all of the attention being given to this, when people have been murdered, yet nobody cares about them......

Media is driven by their hunger to exploit what they view as what will draw attention, and sell newspapers.....Controversy and sex!

Sadly, this is what become has become of society, thankfully there are still people that care!!!

God Bless America, and have mercy on us ALL!

Three Duke lacrosse players took five to 10 minutes to sexually assault a woman hired to perform as a stripper at a team party, and not the 30 minutes she originally described to investigators, a prosecutor said Friday.
"When something happens to you that is really awful, it can seem like it takes place longer than it actually takes," District Attorney Mike Nifong said.

Nifong's comments came as Superior Court Judge W. Osmond Smith III denied a defense request that prosecutors provide a detailed accounting of the alleged assault, including the exact time, place and type of sexual act the accuser said each defendant committed.

Again, I do not mean to imply that rape isn't a serious crime! But, had it not been for the student's social status, I doubt media would have given it so much coverage..

I am BLESSED to say, that I have been in contact with a reporter from the Durham Herald Sun, and she will be doing a series of stories about suspiscious deaths, and LE's failure to investigate....

My brother will be mentioned, along with several others, whom I do not know....

Please pray for my family, because this isn't going to be pretty....

God bless you all, and I pray for our world each nite!

I'm glad to hear this Justice. There is something rotten in Durham in that DA's office that needs to be brought into the light of the day.

When they are published and if they are online could you provide us links so we can read them? Thanks!!

Thank you SM! It has been a long and painful road! I don't know how families can live through this "not knowing," for so many years!

I live by Gina and Amanda, and went this past week to the house they thought Gina was in...

The neighborhoods are CRAWLING with pedophiles EVERYWHERE!

I do believe these are the last days....We live in truly perilous times! And I have lost faith in the "system."

Corruption abounds, and we as citizens count for nothing, unless we are "beautiful," or politically connected!

I will keep you all on top of my list! When the crap hits the fan, I will FINALLY be heard!

Through all of this I KNOW I am not alone, and too many families have suffered too long for answers, from inept and corrupt officials! As if the crime isn't enough?!

But I have NEVER given up faith in God! Please remember me in your prayers, I am at a personal low, and exhausted...Jesus knows, and it hurts because I know many people go to bed each night with the same sorrow, and I feel their pain as well..

Let us all pray for one another!!! If EVER we needed God's help, it is now!!!!

Much Love,
Rhonda

>CBS) The dancing partner of the woman who accuses three Duke University lacrosse players of raping her refutes a key part of her partner's account of the alleged crime.

Kim Roberts, who danced at the same party where the alleged rape took place, makes the revelation in an interview with 60 Minutes correspondent Ed Bradley this Sunday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. ET/PT. <<

Apparantly Ms. Roberts will not be the only one interviewed for the show. The accused will also be interviewed. Is it just me or does anyone else think that it is odd that both Ms. Roberts attorneys and the defendant's attorneys thought this was a good idea?

Nifong has alot of work to do on this witness before she goes on the stand. From what she has said so far I don't think she'll be a witness for the prosecution LOL!

Sherlockmom,
I saw the commercials for these interviews last night and I wondered the same things. Of course, the guys' lawyers may be going for a "tainted jury pool," but I don't think the government can prove its case at the moment anyway.
Why isn't Nifong trying to get this off the air? I can only assume he's hoping that if he gives them enough rope, they'll hang themselves.

Or maybe he's looking for an easy out? I think considering what happened to the cab driver this woman would be a bit more worried making Nifong angry. It doesn't make sense does it.

What happened to the cabdriver?

>What happened to the cabdriver?<

The cab driver was a witness that drove at least one of the accused that night. Nifong wanted the police to arrest him for something that happened a few years ago that he had nothing to do with. A woman robbed a store and hopped in his cab. He drove her away unaware of what she had done. Nifong asked the police to let him know when the guy was arrested.

He was trying, IMO, to intimidate the cab driver into changing his story. Remember how Kim had some past legal trouble of hers taken care of also?

I can't imagine Nifong is pleased that she has now changed her story.

The cab driver had to go to court again and was acquitted.

IMO I think Nifong should be run out of town on a rail! The 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 can go after innocent people, while murders go unsolved! Why isn't Janet and my brother's case on 60 minutes? Nifong is just trying to get the blacks to vote for him, it is all political and he doesn't give a rats 🤬🤬🤬 for justice! I hope he will be charged, and for the love of God, NOT re-elected! :banghead:

My husband and I were enraged watching the travesty of justice being exposed on 60 Minutes last night. We think that Nifong should be prosecuted. We also think that the boys and Duke University should sue him and the city once this whole thing is over. The accuser should also be prosecuted for making false claims. Notice that she hasn't missed a beat and her life goes on.

I was listening to one of the talking heads about this case and they mentioned that Nifong, as a DA, is pretty much protected from lawsuits while doing his job. However he is not protected from recall by the voters or losing an election. I don't think he is worried about that. He can have ethical charges against him for misusing his office but I have no idea how one would go about that. It may be a peer type situation where it would have to be pursued by other attorneys or judges.

I do believe as you do that charges should be filed against the accuser in this case. But who would file them? The police? Nifong? Perhaps a civil suit against her however that would be like getting blood out of a turnip.

Thank you LL&S! I have NEVER heard of such 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 in my life! The corruption that is going on in Durham is despicable! I live in Cleveland, and have far more crime, yet these idiot's maintain a job?! Yesterday deputies in Durham were also arrested for running brothel's, and was caught on tape of intent to murder for hire!

These are deputies?! The Sheriff was to have a "speech," for them today about morale?! Nifong isn't the only rat in Durham, and I cannot believe the citizens are so stupid as to vote for these bumpkins, and allow this madness to continue! :banghead:

I keep seeing all of this media about the alleged rape, when it is clearly a college party gone wrong, life goes on......... But the city politics has allowed it to become a 3 ring circus to solicit votes, and defer the public's attention to the real crimes, like the unsolved murders, rise in gangs etc.

I am still waiting for Miss Dopart to do my story, and cannot wait to have my voice be heard, and it will be louder than the shot heard around the world! The stench of mendacity has driven me into madness over the injustices thwarted upon us, and goes far beyond suing!

There must be CHANGE, and ACCOUNTABILITY, and it is way past time for the public to take a stand up and BE the nation under God we have sworn to be! :truce:

Oh I don't think they are stupid. I think they know exactly what they are voting for and it's fine with them.

Here is more proof of just how corrupt these officers are! I know there are good and bad LE everywhere, but this is INSANE!

I have been screaming about how unjust they have been for so long, and now this! I have begged and pleaded at every level of government for help, and now the world can see I was right! Inept isn't even the word, but corruption begins to sum it up! The fact of the matter is this behavior has been known of, and has gone unspoken till now! If not for the tapes, none of us would have ever known!

If the citizens of Durham stand by and allow this to continue, they are fools! Who is responsable for the level of degradation?! What will be done to punish those involved?! Will they sit idly by and say and do nothing?!

I pray the citizens
have enough sense to see the truth, and care enough to make a change!

Deputy's crimes more serious?

Here is proof of crimes "most certainly unbecoming an officer!" http://ads.heraldsun.com/RealMedia/ads/Creatives/default/empty.gif

DURHAM -- The former sheriff's deputy fired for his alleged involvement in a wide array of illegal activities at a local Durham nightclub may have been involved in more serious crimes than the ones for which he already stands accused, Durham County Sheriff's officials said Wednesday.

Sheriff's investigators are looking for information that may connect former deputy Mike Owens to both human trafficking and murder for hire, according to Capt. Paul Martin of the Sheriff's Office.

Wow Justice. Sounds like Durham LE is giving NOrleans LE a run for their money.

It is disgusting how politicians, and the media fall prey to such obvious corruption! The entire world has stopped to focus on this alleged crime, when REAL crimes are being committed by LE, and not discussed and hidden!

The most recent involvement of deputies caught with trafficking in women for prostitution, murder for hire, drug trafficking, counterfeiting, and who knows what else, and they are "just," fired?!

The Sheriff is more furious over the officer's working overtime in nightclubs, versus, being outright gangsters with badges?!?!

Then, to allow them to police themselves?! Do you honestly think they will be forthwith, and charge these rogue men?!?!

I am disgusted at such behavior, and appalled to know they will get away with it, unless the citizen's unite, and MAKE the change!!!!

LE manipulates the media to their advantage, and contort truth's and fact's.....The FACT is they were caught on tape, yet still are not being prosecuted?!?!

What about these women they kept as slaves for prostitution?! What "right's," do they have?! Will these men be allowed to get away without any penalty of prosecution?! What about the citizen's on the "hit list," have they been informed?!

I cannot believe the world's media would be more fixated on prosecuting innocent people, while LE run the city like the mafia!!!

They have used the "alleged rape case," to act as a way to distract people from the real crimes being committed, and not only un-attended to, but blatantly allowing LE to become worse than the people they arrest!!!

I pray that these men will be held accountable, and that the Sheriff will also be fired, because there is no way he would not have known, and either way, shows just how inept he is, and where his concerns lie, and it's not with the citizen's whose lives they have ruined, and snuffed out!!!

Spread this REAL scandal across the world! Let us all see just how blind justice is in Durham!!!!!

AND, it's citizens, if you do nothing to make them accountable, and show you want a community where you can trust LE, not like these gangsters, who have used their power to engage in such criminal and vial acts against humanity!!!! :behindbar

This is criminal IMO> The accused have had their lives put on hold and disrupted, lost jobs, had to drop out of school and their families put through misery and Nifong hasn't bothered to interview the accuser yet?

"The district attorney prosecuting three Duke lacrosse players accused of raping a woman at a team party said during a court hearing Friday that he still hasn't interviewed the accuser about the facts of the case.

"I've had conversations with (the accuser) about how she's doing. I've had conversations with (the accuser) about her seeing her kids," Mike Nifong said. "I haven't talked with her about the facts of that night. ... We're not at that stage yet."

Nifong made the statement in response to a defense request for any statements the woman has made about the case.

"I understand the answer may not be the answer they want but it's the true answer. That's all I can give them," the prosecutor said after the hourlong hearing.

Defense lawyers said outside court that they found Nifong's statement surprising. "One of the most interesting things to me of course is Mr. Nifong did admit that he in fact has basically never talked to this woman and has absolutely no idea what her story is, and yet he has chosen to continue to go forward with this case," defense lawyer Joseph Cheshire said. "
