Seagrove Parents Indicted for First-Degree​

SEAGROVE, N.C. — A Randolph County grand jury has indicted two parents on charges of felony first-degree murder in connection with the 2023 death of their 5-year-old daughter.

Billy Gene Myers Jr. was served with his indictment on Nov. 21, 2024, while Christina Ashley Myers was served the following day, Nov. 22. Both are being held without bond. The indictments, issued during the grand jury’s November 2024 session, were the result of an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

On July 24, 2023, deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence on Needhams Trail in Seagrove. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of the couple’s 5-year-old daughter. Detectives initiated an investigation and gathered evidence that led to the arrests of Christina and Billy Myers. Both were charged with felony child abuse and were held on $250,000 secured bonds following their first court appearances on July 25, 2023.

Following more than a year of investigation, the grand jury issued True Bills of Indictment against the parents. Sheriff’s Office officials have not released additional details about what led to the upgraded charges of first-degree murder.

The little girl’s uncle told FOX8 that the girl had cerebral palsy and that she was “loveable. She laughed a lot.” Video from inside the Seagrove home showed that the girl was apparently living in terrible conditions despite her medical needs.

Dad has had contact several times with law enforcement in the past due to speeding, no tag, no registration, not showing up in court, etc. He has not been bonded out.

So according to their grandma's obituary, there were two girls, Ella and Elizabeth Myers. One of them must be the five-year-old who died.

Ella was the youngest girl. To me it's weird that the grandmother died on 7/10, funeral service on 7/15 and on the 23rd she was dead.
Edited to add Ella should have been born around 3/4/18 according to a post on FB. AND just wondering if someone saw the child's condition and called CPS during the funeral time.

The timing is striking, yes. Ella's grandmother died only thirteen days before she did. But there's just nothing there to tell whether it's any more than a coincidence. I'm sure the authorities know about the timing--it's right there on his Facebook--so they'll probably check to see whether it means anything, as far as motive and circumstances around Ella's death are concerned.

The grandmother died in a car crash, I was wondering if someone saw baby E while paying respects or at the funeral and called CPS...

Fair enough. I just hate it when they don't name the victim. I mean, other than "we haven't notified the family yet" cases, which makes sense because who wants to find out their loved one has died from the news? But when everyone knows the person has died, I think naming the victim is really important. It humanizes them. Instead of this random five-year-old girl, we have loveable Ella, who laughed a lot and wore leg braces. It's a big difference when you have a name.

Because she was 5 and has 2 siblings may be the reason why they haven't named her yet.

Omg abuse before this baby girl was born. Throw another child with significant health issues into the mix and not really a surprise the wheels came off. Why??? Just why

Is/was he really a firefighter? (Picture on fb) Would make it even more horrible, saving peoples lives for a living and not protecting/caring for your own flesh & blood! I hope the girl knew love and happiness by others (uncle, grandma,…?!)

his mother was buried the week before his 5 year old died if I am understanding this correctly. His mother's obituary names Billy's three children. I think I know the victim's name through that but cannot locate an obituary for her.

ETA sorry it just really bothers me that this child has no name in the title. And no obituary? I mean it really bothers me. a lot.
