Investigators on Hartland Road searching with search dogs.

Zahra's Father on scene of search at Hartland Road North of Morganton.
WOW that's not normal..... usually parents are NOT on the scene of the search expecially if its a case where a child is pressummed dead.

CONCORD, N.C. -- As police search for a missing 10-year-old Hickory girl, a local charity which helped her just months ago hopes their experience will help find her.Channel 9 spent time with Speedway Children's Charities which got to know Zahra Baker back in May. <Snip>

“(She) is an absolutely great personality. The type of kid you really enjoy meeting and get to be a part of their life for that special day,” Hutto said. <Snip>

Hutto remembers that Zahra was making fun of her prosthetic leg. “When we were talking about her leg and she said an 'alligator ate it.' So, real creative," Hutto said."From just that day that we had with her and the things that she would say she seemed like a really smart little girl," she said."Last night, as I said, I couldn't sleep, couldn't eat just thinking, you know, did we miss something? Is she out there? Is she hungry? Is she crying?" Hotto said."It's just really sad. Sad and scary and it's depressing (that) something like this could happen to a sweet little girl," she said. <snip>

A candlelight vigil will be held for Zahra Baker on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on the playground at East Hickory Baptist Church. This service is open to everyone. The church is located at 130 16th St. SE, Hickory, NC 28602. You may call the church office at 828-328-9507 for more information.

There was a man interviewed didn't get where he was from, I was typing, but he said they were asking him if he saw any blood. That is when they were talking about the woodchipper. I hope Channel 9 puts that interview up soon.

perps are frequently part of the search if they are leading someone to the site

How about Googling the girl's name like once a year or so? Or asking a friend to do that if she had absolutely no computer access herself? Literally wouldn't cost a penny and would have turned up plenty of info in a matter of seconds. Don't they have public libraries in Australia, with internet-enabled computers?

This Australian media article from just over two years ago names Zahra (first and last name), and gives her age and hometown http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/article/2008/09/22/16341_newsphoto.html

Sorry, but I get the feeling the bio mother lost custody of infant Zahra for good reasons, and that there hasn't been much change since then.

Maybe she has serious medical issues. Maybe she's in prison. Maybe she was/is in an abusive relationship (I had a former client who let her kids move half-way across the country and had minimal contact with them for at least a year for just that reason--she wanted them away, and safe, to protect them). Maybe she was a drug user and a bad parent and still is. Who knows? Again, IMHO only, there are lots of reasons, some good, some bad, and there's just not enough information to speculate.

In any case, this is a very sad case, and getting sadder by the minute.

Is it certain that the father, Adam, was home at 5 AM Saturday when the fire was reported and responded to? He states he was out looking at a job, came home and started working in the yard, then his wife comes out of the house yelling about Zahra being missing. So maybe he didn't know anything about the fire, the gas in the vehicle and the ransom note. Nothing about that day makes sense to me.

The movie Fargo just crossed my mind and I don't want it to go there.

Just took it out of my Netflix Instant Watch Queue. I saw it way back when, don't need to see it again!

By the way, I was gone earlier when you asked about the "ank" person. I answered, but it may have gotten lost. No need to hunt for it if you missed it. I have not seen anything else from him since night before last. I wouldn't be surprised if LE asked him to button it.

Elisa Baker's bond at $75,000.

Alot of interest in brush pile on Hartland Road. Will be searching within 30 minutes.

oops last I read it was $40,000..............raising it makes her look REALLY bad.
Dad being at the search makes him look like he took LE there.
The wood chipper makes me so ill,,,,,,,,,:furious:

A fire
A ransom note
A ransom note about your bosses daughter
Bosses daughter subject of a welfare check

I am guessing that is not the kind of thing that doesn't get back to you

Felt the need to look at her sweet face while we read reports of cadaver dogs hitting and farm equipments...etc....helps to keep me, personally, centered on the discussions at hand.

So did Dad take them there?

That's what I'm thinking.

I'm so going to be cooking dinner while checking in every few now. This is about to break wide open I fear.

I wonder if he is leading them to the body. :(

That's my thought as well. However, I keep thinking if there's a woodchipper involved, a fire involved, etc. I'm not quite sure how much of a body there will actually be. :(
