Well...if it is true that child support payments were discontinued once Zahra was reported missing, then she could honestly state that they did not have that income. JMO

I missed the report that payments were stopped because Zahra was reported missing? I'm so sorry, I swear I read every post I can before I come to the current thread. :blushing:

Is that the way AUS does it? In the USA, if child support is court ordered or part of a court doc then IIRC it takes the court to stop the payments because a child is missing (this was discussed in other missing children's cases) and that is the best of my recollection.

Lera, I missed a chunk there due to RL and now can't find your post... but you were saying that you think tomorrow's grand jury may not take up the potential criminal indictment of EB yet? Guess I was hoping that the DA has been quietly gathering evidence and just not making a big deal of it.

The United States is listed as a "reciprocating jurisdiction" for child support payments with Australia. Meaning that if a child moves out of Australia, but into the US (or another reciprocating jurisdiction), child support payments are still collected and paid through CSA (the Australian government's Child Support Agency):

FWIW. As far as child support goes there are definate difficulties in coordinating child support between AU and the US. Though the above may be correct it doesn't seem to work so smoothly. My best friend is owed 40 grand in child support from a husband that remarried and gained citizenship through his remarriage in AU. It was only after, I did some digging and discovered that he was a CONSTABLE (!!) and made a formal complaint to his superiors that she received any child support at all. Apparently they make sure that he is paying. She was consistently told by her caseworker that there were extreme difficulties in working with AU on this front.

So there was burnt samples inside the Tahoe?

The Tahoe being found stinking of gas with burn material inside reminds me of a case I saw recently. A man killed a woman, put her in her car, doused the inside with gas and ran. The car was caught on video from a business nearby. It showed the fire inside got really bright, almost like an explosion but it quickly went out. He did not leave a window cracked or a door open which robbed the fire of oxygen so it only lasted a few seconds.

It was found by LE who noticed a strong smell of gas and a small amount of burn material inside. The car was pretty much intact. Even though it was doused with gas, the fire used the little amount of oxygen and quickly went out.

So the way the Tahoe was found makes me think it's possible they tried to burn it as well but didn't leave a window open to feed the fire and it never fully went off.

Maybe then they decided to put the note inside (take out whatever they where trying to burn) and leave the door open so LE would find it. If the dogs hit on the Tahoe for decomp that gives me an even clearer picture of what they where trying to burn.

Or it is transfer of ash or burnt something or another from the woodpile to the vehicle by the perp who started the fire. JMHO.

That was stated by the poster called "biomum" on Val's site Hinkmeter. Val has verified her as legit, can't recall if Tricia has verrified "biomum" or just Val, but we were given the go ahead to discuss.

They are, but in my opinion the have maybe only a few final results back from the lab. I'm sure they got a load of presumptive test, but final ones all packaged up for a speedy trial, no way in my opinion. LE has been showing us all how they are crossing their T's and dotting their I's so to speak. They will not be in a hurry to place that charge of murder on anyone until they are ready.

I believe the grand jury will hear her existing charges but nothing more in regards to Zahra's homicide. all MOO via common sense.

Thanks for the insight. That sounds nightmarish, but glad it worked out ultimately.

That situation is a bit different, though, as in this case the paying parent and the receiving child are both Australian citizens, and the payments were started prior to her leaving the country and (according to the unsubstantiated "bio-mum") just kept on as usual.

Other facts learned about Elisa Baker from the hearing:

-Applied for disability because she has lupus and seizures;

-She had a falling out with her grandfather about a car;

-She is not in touch with her son;

-She is not known to hold a job; and

-The ransom note was found under the windshield wiper of the Chevy Tahoe.

Good point. I'm not sure how all of that would work out. I know that she had a standing order before the marriage. He was in the military and that's how he met his current wife in the first place. Now it IS my understanding that if he were to fly back into the country he would be picked up immediately at customs so I get the impression that any trouble seems to arise at that end. Kind of OT but thought I could add some extra insight.

still off topic, we have a friend here in central IL named Coffey, he has been in the armed forces so have spent time praying alot for him when he is gone.

He was the first person I thought of when I heard the bosses name, because here, it is not a common surname, made me wonder how common it is in NC.

There are quite a few in the counties I mentioned...not all related though as far as I can tell. I believe there is also a furniture store off from 321 in Hudson or Granite Falls named "Coffey Furniture".

That is a good thought. Hmm.. I keep getting caught on the fact that they doused the Tahoe in gas though. Was the pillow, blankets and stuff also found inside the Tahoe?

If they tried burning Z and the evidence inside the Tahoe and it didn't work out I guess they would put her inside the car to take her someplace else. They can't drive a truck doused in gas. That could explain why there are hits from the dogs on both cars? Plan A failed so onto the car for plan B.

Waiting to find out what really happened in this case is like digging in the box for a cracker jack prize. You don't know what you are going to get, you just know it's going to be disappointing.

Do we know for sure the GJ is even related to Zahra's case, or EB? If so, I don't think it would be needed for the other charges EB is facing but I can see it needed for a murder indictment. MOO

I'm thinking that LE may bring other, unrelated charges forward against EB to motivate her 'cooperation' further, but that's just a guess...
