Could be why they moved so much, too.... so that the fumes wouldn't build up in any single place... keep hopping around, no ammonia stench, no suspicion, no LE.
Yea that too. But it does tend to create a horrible odor - the ones I have read about where children where in the home - the lab was usually contained to a back bathroom or laundry room, but contained to one room. Maybe even using the Tahoe as the lab - that's where the drug paraphernalia was found and we have no other details of what that "paraphernalia" was.

Another possibility is crack. But crack is loosing popularity and considering the area (a HUGE meth problem area) I kinda doubt it was crack.

Thanks! I remember a story in my local paper a while back about some guy who broke into a family's home right in front of them, obviously high as a kite. One of the things they could describe about him was that he had nasty little sores all around his mouth. I remember a lot of people saying in the comments that that was common with meth users.

When WRAL first put up the stepmom's pic a few nights ago and I clicked to enlarge it, I noticed those little bumpy things around her mouth/chin and thought it might be meth-related.

I realize we've got absolutely no information to confirm that, so it's purely speculation and wondering on my part.

recently around here, the place of choice for meth manufacture is storage units

six months or so ago there was a big bust where that was where it was happening

the smell is extremely bad. (think of the worse cat urine odor you have smelled)

But even more than that the chemicals are explosive and leave residue - so if LE saw any possible sign of meth manufacturing they would err on the side of caution.

I've seen a lot of Meth use in the past and while i tend to think that is the drug we are dealing with here the thought of oxy is a huge possibility.

Thank you. Sounds like if she were using it, it definitely wasn't home-baked. There are a lot of arrests for possession w/intent to distribute hydrocodone (vicodin) in this area as well.

I can tell you the meth heads in our neighborhood in WA cook their meth in gas cans (1-5 gallons) out in the woods....

How do you do drugs, sell drugs abuse a child and still function in everyday life? I get worn out from dealing with kids hubby and grandkids...one glass of wine does me in! Cant imagine making dealing and using a drug on top of it...im tired just thinking of it!

You lock the kid in her room, dope yourself up and enjoy your day, I reckon. :(

Meth smells like cat urine because of the chemicals often used to make it.

I knew one girl once who admitted to trying it and she described it as tasting and smelling like a mouthful of the worst rotten garbage you could ever imagine.

I don't know if thats true or not but if it is, why in the name of heaven would you ever go back for the second hit???

I have a question on the time line. I thought that AB did not see Zahra physically on Thursday, just a lump in the bed and also said that Zahra was unwell per the stepmother.
I have been hunting like crazy to find the right article and when AB actually really saw Zahra physically the last time.
When you have a precious child like Zahra, any sign of illness would have you running to a doctor pronto, considering her past medical history. That is why, I think, AB is also involved.
I am beginning to wonder if Zahra was sick for about a month and getting sicker each day. And those alleged monsters that were suppose to take care of her, were withholding medical treatment. Hence the necessity to destroy the remains.
Just one other remark. I think, when you have a handicapped child in your care, you even love them a bit more, to the point where other siblings sometimes might get a little bit jealous. At least normal people with compassion behave that way IMO.

I guess that is why we are all more outraged that when a none handicapped child gets murdered. Zahra's extremely cruel treatment is beyond great anger at the culprits and makes you feel sick to your stomach. She endured pain and suffering apparently prior to her death. Those people appear to be just plain sadists of the worse kind.
I am just heart broken about this case.

Its like crack - its almost instantly addicting. Maybe your friend is very strong willed and just did the one hit. Real addicts will sit down and smoke quite a bit - even the first time) - and once you're hooked, you're hooked. I don't understand it either - but have seen it ruin many many many lives.

Yeah, kinda! You'll drive by and notice about 6-10 gas cans all in a pile out in the woods (more noticeable now that the leaves are falling). My husband told me that was what it was (I thought it was trash dumping) and he heard from an ex-meth addict. Sooo... we had to call the cops, and have to often.

Thanks for the reminder! I wish she would ditch those ridiculously annoying compilation pieces leading into every segment and after every commercial break. It wastes so much time that could be used to learn more about the case.

I think I read that EB's sister will be her guest.

Meth can be incredibly addicting. It depends on the chemicals used as to how hard it is to get off of it.

I heard that coming down off of it is so bad, that people do another hit to avoid coming off of it.

Don't they shoot it?

Hmmm. Mark Klaas commented the other day (while it was still a 'missing' case) that LE should search any storage units associated with the family. Because they moved so frequently, he said it was likely that had a storage unit. So, now, another reason they may have had a storage unit!
