could be animal remains. dogs can't differentiate.

Yes they can.

. Trained dogs are able to distinguish between human remains, animal remains, and a wide range of other odors that would normally be expected to distract them. Thus, their ability to distinguish between sources of similar biological odors enhances their application in the area of Human Remains detection.

Channel 9 has been able to confirm from police that the missing Hickory girl, Zahra Clare Baker, did move to Hickory with her family from Sawmills and have confirmed that she was alive as recently as mid-September.

I am confused. :waitasec:

Several people posted the search has been called off but this link states there is currently a massive search underway (it was updated about 20 minutes ago)!

There is also a video that shows the investigators have returned to where they drained the pond last night.

They did search this morning. They have just called it off.

There was a case many years ago in NY that was very famous, the Nussbaum/Steinberg case.

Those who are brainwashed/abused are tools to the abuser.

I'm not sure if its the case here, but it appears it might perhaps be.

He may not be a pleasant person, for sure, but there just seem elements that would lead me to think it could be the case.

I don't think Adam is abused but I do think he was brainwashed.

As always, we can't rely on reporters to get it right. Isn't that their job?? To bring us news? I would assume that meant it would be accurate news but I guess not.

From what I have read, it seems as if LE turned Zahra's case into a homicide investigation based on the confession of EB writing the ransom note.

Have there been any other statements to indicate LE's reason as to why Zahra's case is now a murder investigation?

Is there any evidence being discussed by LE at this time, besides the death scent hits on both Baker vehicles?

It's also a work site. Could have been a hit(s) from a injury(ies) that occurred to a worker(s).

Now THIS is entirely possible.

IIRC, search dogs are trained to search for the scent of human decomposition, of which, is different from animal decomposition.

Can someone please explain to me how AB is brainwashed? I tend to believe he is just covering his own @$$ and is afraid he might go to prison.

Many seemingly good people do horrible things.

He is involved somehow IMO.

Facts from this video:

For Timeline:

-Zahra was seen by a witness in mid-September at the Hickory home.

-Zahra did indeed live in the Hickory home, which the Baker's moved to 2 1/2 months ago

-New search warrants have been issued, and have been sealed by the Judge.
Sources say that they were for things like computers and phone records

Zahra's Grandmother feels so helpless and is wishing her precious little girl to come home safe and sound.

Maybe she forgot about it?

I had one of my online 'singles' profiles up for a year after I was married. I had just forgotten about it.

I don't know weird huh. I wonder what Adam's family thought when this bruising brute of a woman rocked up in Australia to meet him?

............... This study showed the accuracy rates of cadaver dogs in moderate to adverse winter weather conditions, and also the dogs' capabilities to discriminate between animal and human remains. It indicated that an accuracy rate near 100% can be achieved through careful and directed training. /I]

wow! i remember another case (of course no idea what it was) where animal remains were found... hmm. you know you've been on too many true crime blogs / boards / forums when.... you can't remember which case something happened in.

thank you for the correction! :)

I don't know what to think about Adam at this point in time to be honest.

He could: (in no particular order)

1. Be in cahoots with his wife, know what happened, when it happened and either disposed of or helped to dispose of Zahra. (actually I'm with this one today but that could change)

2. He could have killed her himself, and SM knew what happened, when it happened and either disposed of or she helped dispose of Zahra. (meh maybe/maybe not)

3. He could be so clueless and detached from Zahra that he didn't know she had been murdered when she was murdered and had no clue that SM disposed of Zahra. He knew that she was cruel and beat Zahra, but may have just never concluded that SM would murder Zahra in a fit of rage and dispose of her. Or he realized that once Zahra was deceased that he could go down for it too. So he tried to save SM and himself by disposing of Zahra.

Who the heck knows? I know what I "think" but I sure don't know for sure. JMHO.

IMHO I just can't say yet. I don't have enough info on the timeline to even ponder.

I'm sorry.

I just can't see poor Zahra's body being hid for weeks. If she was indeed murdered by her SM, I am leaning towards the day before/of the mulch fire. I think the fire was to get rid of evidence. Just who called the FD?

I am having a difficult time wrapping my head around using the woodchipper to dispose of her body. It would creat a horrible mess. Surely both SM and Dad would realize this. She must have seen a woodchipper in action. He would be totally familiar with the wide dispersal of particles and the blow back from these machines. I am leaning towards burial of the body, though I think LE was correct in checking out the chipper. Stranger things have been proven true.

As for Dad, I am still wavering between his being involved in the cover up and him being wilfully blind, deaf, and mute.

Linked WSOC video does say LE is back at job site in Burke County.

  • #578
So...that's it? No more searches unless they get a tip?? The dog hits everywhere were "inconclusive"?? Why do LE think she's dead? Dad is or isn't cooperating?? arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :banghead::banghead:

I'm going to steam mop my floors...

I can't help but wonder if he was on drugs as well.

thoughts?

Now THIS is entirely possible.

If they only used blood sniffing dogs, it's definitely possible.

Cadaver dogs wouldn't hit on anything but the smell of human remains (cadaverine), though.
