I think the dog did hit and then they cleared out more where he hit. They sent the dog back to the spot...and the clip ended. But, I'm not an expert, lol.

Could this be why they delayed the search? Is there something under there that is the 'specific evidence' they were waiting for?

hmmm....

Trust me, we have booze. :woohoo:

LOL..... that was my first thought.....that being a dry state would be coming as a real shock to a whole bunch of UNC students. AND if accurate, was going to cause a real dip in enrollment soon!

jmoo

Hmmmm, from the video it looks like they're trying to move the logs so the cadaver dog can sniff at the ground. Possibly she was buried and then a pile of logs placed on top of the burial spot.

IMO, the dog didn't seem that "interested" but I don't know what an "alert" would look like.

I wish we could have seen more video. It does appear that they may think she is under dirty under the pile.

HICKORY, N.C. -- Police said they have searched four properties where the family lived and have launched another massive search of the remote area in Burke County on Thursday afternoon for any clues that would lead to Zahra Clare Baker.

Drug use kept relatives from contacting DSS about Zahra

Quote:
Bentley claims she told her mother, Drum, who was supposed to tell DSS about the problems. But, Drum, who said she knew her daughter was hooked on drugs, did not believe her daughter's claims of Zahra's home problems.

Quote:
"I didn't know what to believe at the time," Drum said, about conflicting information from her daughter and Zahra. "At that time in Brittney's life… she … Brittney was on drugs."

Yeahhhhhhh...no excuse. No excuse.

It looks like this is the video that she was referring to....

Thankyou! I see very careful work by the lift operator.
He was just lifting large wood for the dog to sniff.
Looks like in video that the dog hit in a precise area and they began to carefully lift soil.
I have seen this done myself where the operater can get an inch away with his bucket from a target area and never disturb things.

Very good video.

I'm sitting here questioning if they are starting to look at other family members as possible suspects.

But... the ransom note.... and the person who already admitted writing it....
?

The two women claim that, although they never called DSS themselves, they did "make sure" DSS investigated the case. Although they did not actually explain on WBT Radio how they made sure that happened, they claim to have seen DSS agents at the Baker's house.

ummm, Ok.

my only thought is they have reason to believe biodad put fallen trees on top of a burial site and they moving it to get access

Judging by the way they are working the dog, I think that is exactly what they are looking for...a grave under the pile.

How sad is it that I'm sitting here hoping for a grave instead of a pile of mulch. This world sometimes.....man!

Hickory police organized searches of the site on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday’s search is being conducted at the request of the Burke County Sheriff. He says he wants to be able to definitively rule out that area as being Zahra’s location...this is what was said on wcnc.com news. Sounds like Hickory was stopping the search earlier and Burke LE requested to resume the search. Who knows at this point what they are looking for. So frustrated!

:banghead: Isn't that some "poop"! :furious:

Yeah, she says that Adam sat there and watched it happen so...there you go...he knew and did nothing to stop it. :furious:

IMO, he needs to be castrated without medication before he is beat to death. :furious:

I wonder why the video from chopper ended when it did...........
wouldn't chopper stay around to see what was unearthed???
We may know more soon.

Pardon my ignorance....but what is Tara's show? And why on there not msn, I would think any major news outlet would be interested.

ummm, Ok.

To be fair, though, there was at least one neighbor from their previous residence who said he seen and spoken to a DSS worker who was visiting the home, and DSS has acknowledged at least one direct contact with Zahra. One or both of these two may have asked a relative to call DSS, and gotten some confirmation that the call was made and the home visited by DSS. Obviously more needed to be done, but I wouldn't assume they're lying when they said this.
