Family members of the victims reportedly told the media outlet that the victims had been killed after an argument had broken out between the Bracken relatives, although police have not confirmed that account.

“He was a pillar of the community. It’s a devastating loss,” said Pat Traynor, a longtime friend of Dulmage, to the outlet. “Everybody loved Doug Dulmage.”

As for the other three fatalities, they were all reportedly relatives. According to KFYR TV, there was a dispute between the relatives, which led one of them to allegedly kill his brother, his son, and Dulmage before turning the gun on himself.

Obituary

Justin R. Bracken, 34, of Leeds, ND passed away Monday August 29, 2022 in rural Towner County, ND. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Leeds Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Leeds Lutheran Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to stream the funeral service through the Nelson Funeral Home Facebook Page. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds, ND.

Justin started his farming career with Bob, Irma, Doug, and Vickie Dulmage until his time of death. He looked up to them as his other family and loved to help them any way he could. Justin enjoyed his morning visits with Bob and Irma over coffee.

His dream was to own his own land and farm. Justin worked for the Dulmages for 14 years. Doug played a major role in helping Justin to achieve his dreams.

I was a bit confused as to whose son Justin was, as the phrasing of the articles only seem to make sense to me if Robert Bracken was Justin's father. What also confused me was that there was a double funeral of Justin Bracken and Richard Bracken.
This article does seem to say that Justin was the son of Robert Bracken, so not only did he kill his own brother and Doug Dulmage but his own son as well.

LEEDS, N.D. — Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 6, for two of the four men killed in a triple-murder and suicide on a Towner County farm last week .

Richard Bracken, 64, and his nephew, 34-year-old Justin Bracken, were laid to rest at Leeds Lutheran Church.

"Justin was a wonderful man, a lot of people know that, but I want everyone to know," said his fiancee, Paige Dykstra.

Instead of wedding planning with her future husband, she had to help plan her fiance's funeral.

"Hard worker, great man, loving father, loving son, just all around great person, would help anyone out if they had asked," is how Dykstra wants her fiance remembered.

"He didn't deserve that, none of the guys out there deserved how brutal that was," Dykstra said.

She and her 11-year-old son discovered the bodies with Doug Dulmage's parents as they went to deliver supper.
