Amazing work by the entire prosecution team. Thank God this psycho will be locked up forever.

There's going to be a pre-sentencing investigation first. Then the sentencing would be scheduled.

At least the judge is being cautious and making sure his sentencing takes account of everything.

Hope this brings some peace to the families, such a sad case all around. I noticed CI had some kind of thing around his waist, didn't see it during court on other days. Thanks for all the updates.

Good morning all.

Anyone with any insight into the legal aspect of things know if there is ANY chance at all that the video of CTI in the holding cell after his arrest could eventually be leaked/available somewhere to view? The video that was not allowed into evidence as it would have violated his 5th and 6th amendment rights? No clue how these things work, just wondering if there is any chance to ever lay eyes on it.

I know verdict is in but figured I would still post my comments in the discussion:

The thing with the neighbours though…

1. I live in a 10 house cul-de-sac
2. I work from home
3. I know everyone who lives in my road

If you asked me to tell you who left their houses this week and what times of the day their vehicles were/weren’t on their driveways…I can hand on heart say I would have absolutely no idea.

It made me think about the character ‘Red’s’ comment in The Shawshank Redemption…” Seriously…how often do you look at a mans shows?”

It’s not something the average person pays any attention to. The local business CCTV footage would hold far more weight than ‘word of mouth’ testimony from his neighbours.

If his vehicle left the trailer park within the required timeline on the morning of the crime…let’s see the CCTV footage showing that.

This wasn’t presented, so we can either assume one of two things:

1. Law Enforcement is incompetent
2. No CCTV exists because his vehicle didn’t leave the trailer park within the required timeframe.

3. Both of the above (the most likely based on what I’ve seen in this case)

Yes I agree that many folks would not notice, but it only takes one person "I walk my dog at 7am and normally there's a white truck parked at Chad's but it caught my notice that it wasn't there that morning and his dog was watching through the window and barking at my dog as we passed by" or whatever.

When the prosecutor asked the smiley cop to examine it while he was on the stand.

I was shocked when they showed that, and pictures of him holding it up.

It’s obvious to anyone (including him) that this isn’t the outdoor jacket type garment worn by the perpetrator, so what on earth are they doing presenting that as a piece of evidence?

They might just as well have presented a Blue Hoodie and claimed it was the jacket worn by the perpetrator.

Again, attempting to con me as a juror would make me completely disregard your entire case.

You’d clearly be untrustworthy from that point onwards.

I always had the impression that he was wearing two layers of outerwear during the crime, so that he could afterward simply remove the orange and immediately be wearing the dark whatever-it-was underneath. This made him (IMO) look extra bulky in the cctv video and also could easily have made the orange sweatshirt look like more of a substantial jacket. IMO MOO

Mandan Murder Trial concludes after three weeks with Chad Isaak found guilty on all counts

8/20/21

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The trial of Chad Isaak started on August 2, nearly two and a half years after Isaak was arrested for the murders of Robert Fakler, Adam Fuehrer, William Cobb and Lois Cobb at RJR Maintenance and Management in Mandan.

“You will know who caused the murders of Robert Fakler, of William Cobb, of Lois Cobb and of Adam Fuehrer; which is why the state will come back up before you and will ask you to find the defendant, Chad Isaak, guilty,” said Prosecution Attorney Karlei Neufeld.

As the trial progressed through the first week, the prosecution laid out what the crime scene looked like when first responders and RJR employees arrived at the scene

”I noticed that it looked like he had slipped and fell ‘cause he had a carton. Robert was notorious for bringing eggs to his employees, from his chickens, and it looked like he might have slipped and fell and hit his head,” said Justin Bockheim, witness.

The second week started with Medical Examiner Doctor William Massello III detailing the injuries sustained to the victims on the day of the murders.

”Some of the wounds could have been through an arm and into the body, or they may have been separate wounds, and then he had 28 stab wounds to the front of his body,” said Massello.

The prosecution then moved onto security camera footage showing Chad Isaak parking at the Mandan McDonald’s and making his way to RJR and back again.

From there, law enforcement was able to track Isaak all the way to Center, ND due to distinguishing marks on his truck.

”We can also see that the logo in the corner of the vehicle is also similar in all three photos, and we can also see that the rust pattern along the wheel well is similar in all three photos. Specifically because of the astonishing similarity of this object right here, right here and here,” said BCI Special Agent Alex Droske.

A “be on the lookout” notice was then sent out to law enforcement for Isaak’s truck. A McLean county deputy told the jury how he recognized the truck as his chiropractor’s Chad Isaak.

With the matching truck being found, law enforcement searched Isaak’s home and truck where they found a blood stain from Robert Fakler along with an orange ski mask and sweatshirt matching the one seen in security camera footage at RJR.

”Based on the 10 genetic loci that were used to calculate the frequency, the population statistic was greater than one and 100 billion and whenever that occurs, the laboratory’s policy states that we would not expect to see that profile among unrelated individuals in the world population,” said Kyle Splichal, former North Dakota Crime Lab employee.

If he did in fact commit the crime, it makes zero sense that he didn't just get rid of any evidence in his trailer that could link him.

That’s extremely strange and doesn't add up.

Full disclosure - I don't think this case is fully proven from a legalistic point of view but I also suspect CTI really did do it .

Keeping the bottom works of the revolver with all means of linking to the crime was not only trophy but also a way of giving the middle finger to the police. As for the brass expended shells , no photo was shown at any stage showing the headstamps on the ctgs were the same as those as found in the Hornady 38 SPL box. Perhaps they were, but this is just sloppy photography.

As for being found with incriminating materials , I believe , assuming he did it, that the pace that LE worked at was beyond his wildest dream or nightmare. He saw his truck being photographed perhaps late am on the 4th... he had to assume that the trailer park was then under full surveillance. He only needed one night between those photos and the arrest and a lot of small materials could have been made to disappear - forever .

Perhaps he intended to ditch a lot of materials over time but he expected it would be at least ten days to two weeks before LE came knocking - and he might be on a list of twenty five suspects, many of whom had perhaps criminal records... he likely thought it would be no problem to have the police do a quick interview and overlook him.

There's one thing that would be very interesting to find out - well two.
Is there any evidence that he had chemicals like styrene foam and acetone which could be used to make up something approaching melted Ice in outward look to put around the numbers of his vehicle number plate. ? I have a very strong suspicion based on what Angela White said that the plate had been tampered with in a way that is later hard to prove.

2. If you want to get the firing pin out of a Ruger LCR revovler you have to remove the firing pin bush. I suspect you need a specialist tool to do this. And remember if you do a bodgy job checking that you can do this in a hurry before you use the revolver then you might regret it when you use the revolver for murder. I suspect some sort of cut away screw driver might be required for this - it is not made clear in the LCR owner's manual (which is pretty basic and not written from the point of view of repair ) .

If this is so (specialist tool is required to do this) then checks could be made allover the state with gunsmiths and so on about if CTI ever went looking for such hardware. I have a feeling if he committed the crime he did a basic strip on the revolver before he even left the parking lot , so he could toss the topworks of the revolver off the first discreet bridge he came from. Ditto firing pin.

Just burying the revolver complete or throwing it in Mandan lake up north would make a whole lot more sense but it would leave you without any trophy at all. Apart from the knife, which has never conclusively been linked to the murder.

This case has a lot of holes in it, so the jury WILL be going over the evidence (lack of) with a fine tooth comb to try to make sense of it. That’s going to take time, and rightly so.

There is no place for ‘Kangaroo Courts’ when you are deciding the long-term fate of a humans future right to freedom.

Look at the supposed blood evidence.

They are saying his blood was transferred onto the car door, yet the ‘assumed’ perpetrator is covered from head to toe in clothes, gloves etc. and his patients said there were no cuts anywhere on his arms, hands shortly after he apparently murdered 4 people.

1. I think Law Enforcement may have obtained a sample of his DNA unlawfully? Very possibly.

2.Do I think they even found his blood present on the vehicles? Possibly not.

Once they have a sample of his DNA, they can match that/plant it wherever they want. How can we even be sure they have blood evidence?? Has anybody actually seen this supposed sample and has it been tested by the defence team?

Corruption is rife throughout Government, Law Enforcement etc. We know this.

Which "car door" ? There are two trucks involved. The RJR Dodge truck and CTI's F150 white truck. English counts.

I assume you are talking of the RJR Dodge. There appears to be a blood stain on the door in some photos shown - or video footage from the trial. Now the interesting bit ...tthat blood does not appear to have gone into evidence anywhere. Not even as "in sufficient sample ".

There was NO CTI blood in the RJR Dodge vehicle at all. But of course if he kept fully gloved up and so on there could be a serious crime but no cuts or bleeding to CTI and that's what the physical inspection of him showed on the 4th (admittedly small cuts and punctures would be hard to find 3 days later).

Blood on his vehicle 077AHT ? There could be gallons of it and it means nothing. My vehicle has some nasty edges around the engine compartment. I do my own oil changes.. I'd not be surprised if there are some tiny bits of my blood and skin around the engine compartment. Have I ever had a blood nose while driving or before driving? Maybe - it's not something you remember over a 6 year period. Chad's blood in Chad's white truck or pick up means zero if found and it was not.

background
I'm a dual Kiwi/Aussie so I know about a terrible corrupt cop historical tampering event here.

I remember the Crewe Waikato murder case here .. there was a huge amount of evidence tampering including firing a seized 0.22 gun to get a ctg case that could be planted. There was a whole royal commission on the matter. None of the malfacteurs was ever punished. One of the cops involved then went on (they say ) to murder a wife (an Auckand Plumley with vast land holdings of prime agricultural land ) he'd pickedup in the meantime for her money (so they say).

Method - Electrocution in the bath. Not easy to prove. However the autopsy results were consistent with that in the damage to the heart of the deceased. But he'd made comments about marrying her for her coin AND she'd told her father she was fed up with him and she intended to divorce. So I've seen evidence tampering in a case , big time.

Random speculation -- when LE encounters someone like CTI (by which I mean someone apparently capable of extreme violence with no apparent motive), I wonder if they then peruse their cold cases looking for crimes he might have committed in the past.

It occurred to me that perhaps one of the reasons for some of his odd behavior (knife in the washer, gun parts in freezer, etc) could be because he did it before and it worked for him (ie he got away with whatever he did).

MOO

Good point @Auntie Cipation. I'd be checking his prior residences. I think he lived in TX and HI before returning to ND.

@KidonGadol I was watching CTV and they had a snippet of the prosecutors PC. She said they were investigating tips that came in even during the trial, so I bet what you sent to them got looked at.
