Do we think Amber's car is in the water?

I get 31 minutes but please note, the point on Road C is not an exact location.

10418 McKelvie Rd | Hwy 50 & Hobscheidt | Elmwood NE | ROAD C

Agree and we don't know whether the vehicle went east or west on Road C or how far the vehicle traveled on Road C before either getting stuck or stopping there.

Road C appears to be a dirt road and I question whether the road itself was even visible at the time. It was covered in 14" of snow and I suspect it was dark outside by the time the vehicle got there, based on the time and location of her cell phone's last ping.

I hope we learn the exact location of where the vehicle was discovered on Road C. How far did it travel down that road? I did look at the satellite of Road C (both east and west) that showed the road for about a mile each way, and I didn't see anything that appeared to be a series of steep hills, but that might be hard to tell with satellite and I could be wrong. Her vehicle was discovered at a low spot among a series of steep hills according to the attached article.

This is JMO, but I think it would have taken a tremendous effort to get even an SUV to go very far down that road. A body was discovered in the area and her father believes it is Amber. An autopsy will be conducted and I'm afraid it is her.

My prayers go out to her family. I can't imagine what they've been through.

Not according to what has been reported so far. It appears her vehicle was located on Road C in Otoe Co., NE at a low point among a series of steep hills. The exact location on Road C of where her vehicle was discovered has not been reported yet, but a body was found nearby. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine if it's Amber.

Look on Google maps starting at the intersection of N 22 Road and C Road, then go to street view and head west on C road for about .3 miles. I *think* that's around the location based on the bottom photo in this article.

I apologize, I didn't realize her car had been found with a body nearby :(

No need to apologize! This is a rapidly developing story and I've been glued to it.

hmm I wonder what happened
I suspected the husband but now I'm not sure what to think

I still suspect the husband. All that commotion when LE went to their home isn't normal "innocent, worried husband" behavior. MOO IMO

  • #92
Things are not always as they seem....

I have no idea what happened....

But things like this also happen: an argument happens and a wife leaves.... maybe the husband doesn't report it because he's mad and he's assuming she's off with friends or family. Doesn't know it until family shows up.... in a scenario like this, everybody's going to look at the husband, especially when there's a precipitating argument and a failure to report. If the husband is both innocent but interrogated, his answers could come across as angry, belligerent....

Just trying to consider something that's NOT foul play..... maybe just a terrible, terrible accident, on a Godforsaken road....

This is awful! I just can’t imagine a scenario where Amber would drive out where her vehicle was located, even without factoring in over a foot of snow. I live in a rural area and even as a teenager I knew better than to mess with unplowed gravel, remote roads. She’s a smart woman, it just doesn’t make sense to me.
If it’s true she voluntarily drove out there and got stuck and perished going for help, that should be easily determined, right? Versus foul play, I mean. I hope the autopsy brings the truth to light. Prayers for Amber and those who love her.

There are so many possible scenarios. The scene likely had a lot of information for LE to work with: was the vehicle door closed, opened, locked, unlocked, had the engine been running, were there footprints, signs of attempting to dig out, drag marks, was her phone on her or in the vehicle, etc. Even with snow melt. COD will likely reveal whether it's murder, suicide, or accident. Jmo.

I hope it's easy to solve so the family gets answers soon.

Just a little local input IMHO, but she could have been headed for Highway 2, which is how most people around here get to I-29, which leads to Kansas City. With the roads as bad as they were last week, I could see trying to take the county road(s) that had been plowed, or look like they might be passable, and getting lost and eventually stuck, especially after dark. Who knows...JMHO

The Sheriff's Office has also requested assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol.

...
Suttle (her father) spoke with 3 News Now on Saturday morning about the update to the case. He said someone with the Omaha Police Department stopped by his home yesterday to personally tell the family the vehicle was found with a body nearby.

Suttle said they are waiting for final identification, but he believes the body belongs to his daughter.

Matthew Tjaden is scheduled to appear again on March 4.

'The worst has happened': Family members confirm missing Cass County woman has died

Family members confirmed that Tjaden had died.

Tjaden is the daughter of former Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle.

The Suttle family has issued the following statement:

"It is with sad news I pass along that the vehicle has been found, and unfortunately, the worst has happened and Amber has passed.

"To all of her current and former students who have reached out to me out of concern, thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and support. It means a lot to us to know how much Amber has inspired you and touched your lives. We ask that you
continue her legacy: stay in school, encourage others to stay in school, and be kind to one another as you continue the hard work of stri
ving to better yourselves through education.

"To all of my Facebook friends, thank you all for your words of support during this difficult time and for sharing this message. The investigator told me this morning that the person who spotted the vehicle did so because they were made aware
by this Facebook post. Through all of your sharing and posting, we were able to assist the investigation and ultimately bring this to a conclusion, and so I deeply truly thank you all for your assistance.
"I would like to thank the Cass Country Sheriff's Office, the Otoe County Sheriff's Office, the Omaha Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol for all of their ceaseless efforts in trying any and all means to locate Amber.

"At this time, I have no additional details to share, as the family is grieving, and I would ask that you please respect their privacy. If anyone has any special memories, thoughts, or messages you would like me to pass along to her family, I will do so, as I know it does provide some comfort in seeing how much of a difference Amber made in so many people's lives."

May Amber rest in peace.

Terribly sad.

I want to know how she ended up out there.

So do I. It's my opinion that her husband is either directly responsible or indirectly responsible. By indirectly responsible, years of abuse and threats by a spouse can take an incredible toll. The husband told LE they had an argument and she left. She may have been distraught and terrified and ended up on that Godforsaken road. JMO, if this was murder, I think a third-party would have been needed to give him a ride home.

She sought two protection orders against him and for some reason, they were dismissed. The abuse and fear she reported was horrific and I do believe what she reported because he was out-of-control when LE asked him questions about her whereabouts and they had to taser him and he was arrested and charged. It was reported in MSM that he told LE to get the "f" off his property! What kind of husband does that when his wife is missing and LE is attempting to try to find her?

I hope her family gets the answers they need and deserve. This is so heartbreaking.
