NE NE - Margaret Kay Holst, 18, Omaha, 4 Aug 1977

As I intrepret the very sparse information available, Margaret Kay Holst left a note saying that she was going on a date with a boy she recently met. I don't know if she named the boy in the note, but evidently he was located and said that they did indeed go on a date and that he "left her off somewhere near her home".

Certainly an odd way to end a date, in my opinion. But evidently the police accepted his story. He was never named as a suspect in her disappearance.
I agree the date setup was a bit odd. Maybe one of their families wouldn't approve or she didn't want him to know where she lived or what her home looked like (social embarrassment, etc). jmo

"Somewhere near her home" has got to be a warning flag of sorts. If that is a direct quote, then it would indicate he knew where her home was, but was intentionally being vague as to where he left her off. And for what reason?

Ah, good point. So maybe his family had connections. Wouldn't be the first time that's been a factor in a disappearance.
