I didn't realize that happened with the NY Post - I don't have a subscription (and never will because that would mean admitting I read the NY Post, lol!) and have never had a prob viewing articles.

The reasons stated in the article that he might (ahem) get off:
* Traffic stop might have been illegal. Car pulled over under pretext of traffic violation though true purpose was likely to get ID on Kraft. Kraft was asked for his ID, though he was not the driver of the car.
* He might not have solicited the services - could be viewed as acts between two consenting adults.
* Video might not have been legally obtained.

He doesn’t see his son much and last we had heard, he married a Chinese woman who, according to my nephew, didn’t speak any English. They moved near the Orlando area and he told my them that his wife ran “some sort of business”
I’m actually hoping his only involvement is being a pervert client and that he doesn’t have anything to do with actual human trafficking.

I believe he is seen on camera paying with a $100 bill. These rich scumbags can skirt the law though.

They don't want to do the work or actually have a relationship. They want a "service", like taking clothing to the cleaners. It is meaningless to them. Just pay, get what they paid for, leave. They don't have to talk, invest in actually being nice or sociable. That is why some men prefer to pay for sex, the lack of intimacy. It is a business transaction.

Looking @ the photos of the 165 men arrested they appear to be white, black, Hispanic & all ages. Can't tell what income range is covered, but I would expect that not all of the men are rich.

Am I the only one here that feels Kraft and all of the others are blameless for the way these girls were being treated. If I bought a hamburger at a restaurant that was using a “traffic’ed” workforce what responsibility would I have?

No, they are not blameless. The information is known as to the circumstances of prostitution. In this case, it was women thinking they were getting a didferent kind of work.

Most girls that go into prostitution are victims of some kind of abuse in their lives. Men who use them are perpetuating their abuse.

I see your point. I am sure these creeps weren’t asking these girls if they were ok, or if they were doing well or what not. The articles state they needed translators to talk to them so these girls weren’t likely having any sort of conversations with the guys to make me think they should have known what conditions were actually like or how these poor girls got here.
I do think they knowingly broke the law though and that doesn’t free them of blame here.

I wonder why he is even trying to fight it. It’s a misdemeanor if I read correctly. He’s rich and not married and I doubt would actually go to jail. So why doesn’t he plead, pay the fine and make this bad publicity for him go away?
Especially since they have video.

"You plead not guilty to keep your options open," he continued. "It doesn't mean he didn't do it, doesn't mean that he expects to go to trial. What it means is this gives them some time to work out any arrangement. He may well take this matter to trial, but this allows him to participate -- first-time offenders often are eligible for a diversion program. If you plead guilty, then that just means we'll proceed to the sentencing phase. The not guilty allows him to participate in this diversion program likely, which then means that these charges at the end of it, if he does participate in this program, will actually be expunged. It'll be equivalent to him never having been charged. And I think what'll happen is if he is able to do that before the video is released, then he's free of the justice system and there will be less attention being paid to the video at that point. There will still be some, but it'll be really a blip on the radar screen as opposed to prolonging it over the course of the next 12 to 18 months."

Yes. you would be responsible for the trafficking if you purchased a hamburger made by enslaved people (and that's what trafficked people are). Legally responsible - I'm guessing not, I don't know. Morally responsible? Absolutely.

Trafficking thrives because customers/clients pretend they aren't responsible.

Of course, if you don't know the employees are trafficked and are in slavery, then you don't know.

But....if labor is cheap and if business is cash....it's time to question.

These women, as a result of being victims of crime/trafficking will automatically be eligible for green cards. Legal Permanent Residents, if they cooperate with authorities on convicting the traffickers.
