Found Deceased NE - Sandra Root, 70, South Bend, 2 March 2018

A Neighbor said 70-year-old Sandra Root was last seen at at her home near South Bend 4:30 pm. on March 2nd. The South Bend and river area were walked by family and Cass County Sheriff Office Deputies. A Nebraska State Patrol helicopter conducted an aerial sweep of the area on March 5th. All search efforts were unsuccessful in locating Sandra Root. Root, who also goes by Sam or Sandy, is 5’3” tall, weighs 115 pounds, and has grey hair and brown eyes. She was reportedly wearing a long black coat, blue/grey earmuffs and black boots.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a missing woman.

Sandra Root, 70, was last seen at North Lake in South Bend, Nebraska on Friday, March 2 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

A press release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office said a family member went to check on Root on Sunday, March 4 at her residence near South Bend.

A neighbor told the family member Root was last spotted two days prior.

The South Bend and river area were walked by family and Cass County Sheriff's Office Deputies, and an NSP helicopter conducted an aerial sweep of the area on March 5.

All search efforts were unsuccessful.

Root was last seen wearing a long black coat, blue/grey earmuffs, and black boots.

Lt. Lawrence Burke with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office said Root’s situation has not yet met the criteria for an Endangered Missing Alert.

OMAHA, Neb. — The Nebraska State Patrol canceled an endangered missing advisory for Sandra Root, 70.
Troopers located her body, but have not said where or how she died.

CASS COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) - The Cass County Sheriff's Office recovered a body in the Platte River near South Bend on Friday.

Deputies identified the body as 70 year old Sandra Root. A relative made the discovery

Tonight her family issued this statement on the Facebook page dedicated to finding her, "We would like to thank everyone for your efforts, prayers and kind words during our search for our mom and grandmother. It is with heavy hearts we let you know she has gone to be with her loving husband in heaven. We ask that you please respect our privacy at this time."
