Found Deceased NE - Tyler Goodrich, 35, left his house to go on a run, Lincoln, 3 Nov 2023

I've been on a few searches and we never really looked up into trees. We were looking for an injured person or the remains. In a grid search, it's all you can do to just cover all the ground in your immediate area.
Thanks. That's what I thought. Especially considering a guy walking his dog found him, and the guy likely doesn't walk his dog looking down at his feet.

Yes, it will be a bittersweet relief for his grieving partner.

I feel bad now that I was so suspicious of him. He was the last one to see him and they had been fighting, so I did wonder if he was somehow involved. I think Tyler's family expressed suspicions as well, which made me wonder.

At least there is a bit of closure in that now there is no more wondering about where, and what, etc.
Speaking of closure, hopefully the father and husband can put any bad feelings behind them for Tyler's sake. I doubt he would have wanted that between 2 of the people he loved most.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will provide an update with more details during a live-streamed press briefing on Monday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m.

It sure would have been nice if they provided a link to the live event! JMO!

Goodrich’s family met with investigators Saturday. His father, Lonnie Goodrich, said he believes the body they found is his son. “It’s Tyler. It’s Tyler. It’s Tyler. They were all his tattoos. Hair color was the same. It’s Tyler. He has been found.”

I found an article from about a month and a half after Tyler went missing, with both Tyler's dad, and husband, talking about various things. It's a pretty decent article of what unfolded after he went missing.

I’m sorry to pose this question but if the current information by law enforcement is that it does not appear to be a homicide, does that mean possibly TG went off on his own and then, at some point, ended his own life? Or that he had some accident but that the death was not at the hands of another? Currently it’s not clear on the timing other than LE saying they believed his body had been there approximately a “year”.

Whatever the answers are, I hope this discovery helps lead his family and loved ones and all those who knew him closer to some healing and peace. They all deserve that.

I have absolutely no right to know - but I do still wonder what was said in the moments before Tyler ran out the door.

I'm new to this case & actually only found out about it today because a news link came up referring to him being found, sadly, deceased.

So it sounds like 18 months ago he was a married father of 2, his husband was leaving him, and accused him of pushing him , and he already had DV issues in his past.

He fled the home during a 911 call made by his spouse and never returned.

The death has been deemed suspicious but no indications of foul play.

Sadly sounds like suicide.

Could it have been his spouse threatening about DV charges?

I'm glad his family and friends will finally have closure. I was surprised this case wasn't one that was resolved within days.

I feel badly for the adopted boys. It sounds like they already had a difficult life. They really hadn't been with their new adoptive family very long when this whole situation blew up. They've had a rough life so far.

When LE responded at the time of Tyler's disappearance, they found no evidence of DV. The previous charges, IIRC, were from several years prior and Tyler had already done the work to deal with those incidents. It's possible the marriage was breaking up for other reasons, who knows? JMO

Just 2 questions:
1. Did they use tracking dogs when he was missing, and how could they have missed him so close to home?
2. His father says the tattoos are a match, but how could those be preserved out in the elements for 16 months?

IIRC, LE didn't use tracking dogs, but friends of Tyler managed to find someone who had a tracking dog that followed his scent about a week after he disappeared. Apparently, it followed his scent and stopped on the street near where Tyler was found.

Yes.

the sheriff’s office expanded its search, using drones, dogs, and a helicopter.

An short interview from the dog handler at the same source: Dateline: Missing in America podcast covers the November 2023 disappearance of Tyler Goodrich in Lincoln, Nebraska

Mummification?

Deputies tried to locate Goodrich after speaking with his husband. They also walked through the home and saw no signs of a major disturbance.
Without posting here, there's a lot about allegations and rebuttals of Tyler's alleged conduct. It's good to read the transcript to understand how hurtful some of the comments were to Tyler's family and friends.

It's obvious now that Tyler's body has been found that he was leaving the house that night to avoid escalating the argument between himself and his husband. The accusations against him were distressing and led to a tragic event. As Tyler's family points out in the podcast with Josh Mankiewics, he was never able to tell his side of the story.

Tyler’s friend Rachel Barth says that incident occurred before Tyler achieved sobriety.:

From the link above:

Rachel Barth: “That’s back when, like, you know, Tyler had -- was drinking and realized that maybe he wasn’t the best version of himself. Um, I think all of us can attest we’re not perfect. And so Tyler realized that. He stopped drinking, um, became, you know, a better version of himself.”
Amanda Meyer says that arrest in 2014 changed the way Tyler dealt with conflict.

Amanda Meyer: “Which is why Tyler would remove himself from situations. Which is why he would leave the home, because he had a past lesson that he took very hard and he was doing what he needed to do in order to prevent ever having to relive something along those lines.”
What she’s describing would explain Tyler’s leaving the house after a verbal disagreement escalated.

At the same time, Marshall’s Facebook post infuriated many of Tyler’s friends and family.

Rachel Barth: “I think we all took it very personal. I thought he took some low blows to the family, which was not fair.”
Tyler’s sister Felicia said she found Marshall’s post deeply offensive.

Felicia Nicholson: “Regardless of what the truth is, because we may never know exactly what happened, calling Tyler out on that serious of an allegation when he’s not there to tell the other side of the story -- is very disrespectful.”

Lonnie Goodrich: “Yes, it is. Yes, it is.”
In the post, Marshall even mentioned Tyler’s dad, and said he was aware of the abuse directed at Marshall. Lonnie says that’s not completely accurate.

Lonnie Goodrich: “There was a time that Marshall called me and accused Tyler of doing something. And I called Tyler immediately. He said, ‘It’s nothing. Nothing happened. It’s being made up.’ And he handed the phone off to the person he was with, who said, ‘I was there, not one thing happened.’”

Josh Mankiewicz: “Tyler was being accused of what, in that conversation, by Marshall?”

Lonnie Goodrich: “Being abusive, um, doing some physical harm.”

I'm so conflicted here. A man who loves his boys just offing himself or was he feeling that they were going to be taken away? Ugh I hate it

I think he’d been in a bad relationship and saw no way out. His husband, according to family and at least one friend, was making false accusations against him. Tyler probably felt it would destroy his career. In these situations, people sometimes feel, at least temporarily, that their family will be better off without them. It’s not true, but it seems hopeless in that moment.

If only Tyler had felt strong enough to reach out and get some help. He must have been in a very dark place.

@Betty P - thank you taking the time to MSM source and link the other side of this story. IMO, what happened that night wasn’t a one-time event that escalated. It was a culmination of things that finally came to a head, JMO.
