Found Deceased NE - Tyler Goodrich, 35, left his house to go on a run, Lincoln, 3 Nov 2023

Domestic violence takes place in same sex relationships. It is psychological as well as physical. Women that might be physically stronger are still abused--same with men.

Yes, it can occur in all kinds of relationships. There was conflict in the relationship, we’re just not sure what.

Regardless, Tyler is deceased when he should be alive. Two young men are now in a broken home with one parent. The former husband has to take care of them and move on. He has a lot of things to manage. Tyler’s family needs to follow LE as they complete their investigation into Tyler’s death and honor his memory.

Tyler had already talked of the divorce to his friends. He was already making plans to find a new place, but was sad about the effect on his adopted sons.
maybe the "failure" of the relationship was very depressing to him- maybe he blamed himself for not making better choices and felt that "nothing" was working out (speculating)

It's possible, but we'll never know. He's not here to defend himself or explain. His family and close friends probably have some idea of what he might have been thinking. He was communicating with his father. They don't have to reveal that personal information, but I support their efforts in following the investigation to its end.

“Once deputies investigated the disturbance, it was determined no crime was committed,” Wagner said. “But it’s believed Tyler was fearful for his role in that disturbance.”

I read between the lines a little on that part of the statement.

Having followed a lot of cases here on WS, strange things happen. Based on the evidence from LE and this report and in the absence of any other information, I accept their conclusions. There are still some odd circumstances, but there have been suicide cases where the victim's body wasn't found for a long time. Suicides committed in heavily wooded areas can be difficult for searchers, even with dogs.

I still believe its possible that Tyler resorted to taking his own life out of desperation over being (possibly) falsely accused of DV. Past allegations from family and friends lends credence to that possibility.

OTOH, its also possible that there was some minor violence that took place, leaving Tyler despairing over his future and career.

Regardless, both partners should have had some counseling, should have reached out for help in dealing with the changes in their lives. Accessing good quality mental health services could have prevented this tragedy. JMO

There still seem to be some unanswered questions and I hope the family seeks more information, perhaps a second opinion on the AR if it helps.

Many supporters have wondered why it took so long for Goodrich’s body to be discovered — a question asked by media during Tuesday’s briefing.

“We were using a lot of volunteers,” Wagner said. “I’m not sure they expected to find Tyler in a vertical position and probably were looking at ground level. He was very close to a tree trunk. And sometimes people who aren’t trained in those kind of investigations don’t actually know what they’re seeing at the time. There are a number of reasons Tyler wasn’t found before he was.”

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin added Goodrich was found in an evergreen tree which made it more difficult.

Honestly, reading that makes me wonder how many other missing people we talk about on here have actually been at or near their last known location this whole time and were just missed.

It sounds like searchers are trained to look for certain, very specific things. But if the remains or the scene look even slightly different, then it just doesn't register, and searchers simply move on without noticing.

This is excellent point and highly relevant. Thumbs up in words. I think you are really on to something. Searchers have a terrible success rate.

Very often, local law enforcement doesn’t allow volunteers to search for missing persons or only allows it with supervision by experienced officers or trained search and rescue groups. Some do.

I agree with you totally, but even using trained searchers- bodies have been missed and later found in an area that had been searched - in many cases I’ve observed over the years.

Searchers and dogs both, are not infallible.

I looked and could not find the thread here on WS about this. Essentially it’s a thread listing missing person remains found in an area already searched. It’s clear to me that areas cannot easily be “cleared” even if searchers are thorough.

Yes, that’s the one! I have it on my “watch” list but I just couldn’t find it.

And? nothing I said was in disagreement with that.
