My county in California, with zero confirmed cases so far, may be about to announce our first case. Sheriff says the person travelled out of state. I'm going to guess (not that we will be told the person's travel history even if they do end up being our first confirmed C19 case) that they traveled to Reno. Either to shop or to fly elsewhere. Even a person flying to other California locations from my area would most likely fly from Reno.

I guess it's wait time for now.

I hope we (and Lassen) do stay virus free. But I know that's unlikely as time goes by. People from here need to go to the cities for all sorts of reasons. And lots of people come through our areas from other places, especially in the summer -- hunting, fishing, camping, etc.

I remember reading about the 1918 flu and how it ended up in tiny villages in northern Alaska and other super remote places -- brought in most likely by the postal carrier, since that was the only person coming in from outside. Not every little village, obviously, but some. I guess eventually it will be everywhere...

So, some sad news, my Mother's dog died. And Animal Control in Henderson won't come pick it up, because of the Coronavirus.

She has a giant dead dog, she can't move.

Well, that is another drama. They won't come over either. If she brings the dog in, they will cremate him for $150.

There are some other situational factors in this that complicates things....beyond what is normally an easy fix. I could easily get my ex to go deal with this, but she hates him. Whatever. And she has some issues with City of Henderson....sigh. Drama.

She took the dog to some holistic health veterinarian. I mean, the dog was 18 years old. Anyway, apparently they did something to the dog, and it died the next day. Or maybe it would have died anyway.

Governor has extended the stay at home until May 18, AND has developed a reopening plan which puts casinos on the back burner. They would be stage 3 or 4. Wonder what plans the people booking the Trump hotel have. Brother got a freebie to stay there. Didn't like it at all even at zero cost. Said he would never stay there. Soooo, spread the word.

Facebook page for unemployed Nevadans balloons to 27,000 followers

This Facebook group is absolutely heartbreaking. And heart warming. The numbers of claimants who have not been paid since filing their claims in March, over 2/3 of the claimants have not been paid.

The group has connected people who can trade, and help each other out. My heart goes out to these folks, probably a lot of people who have children.

I feel so fortunate to have a job.

At this point, the dysfunctional Unemployment Insurance System in Nevada is so beyond broken, it could be a full comedy skit for over an hour of jokes.

What has better odds? Getting a Royal Flush on your first poker hand, or getting thru to unemployment insurance in Nevada?

Let's make a bet, I am standing on the corner of Sahara and Nellis, with a sign, "Need money for beer", and you filed an Unemployment insurance claim in Nevada...who is going to get $100 quicker?

Oh, the jokes! Seriously, over 30 million people are out of work. Las Vegas is one of the hardest hit. We have the highest level of unemployment since the Great Depression. Prayers for people affected.
