Honestly could this get any more schoolyard? These are so-called professional advocates? One says they wouldn't play the way I wanna play so I'm taking my ball home so the other says well who needs your stinking ball we'll get X to come and bring his WAY prestigious ball....

They all need to get over their monstrous egos and petty point-scoring and GROW THE FLIP* UP!!!!!

*You all know FLIP is NOT the word I'm using here in private, right?

I'm not sure I understand your apology about nit-picking? :waitasec:

I actually felt kinda bad about responding regarding a single word - prestigious!

Is there anyone here who thinks the parents wrote that statement? JT couldn't be more transparent. : ( He could have at least written it so it appeared the parents might have.

I don't know why he bothered to hire a "prestigious" lawyer - he should have saved bucks and hired the very very cheapest lawyer in the state. All he wants is a technical "conduit" so he can continue to represent the Irwins, and to do so he has to hire a local attorney. They won't be doing anything - maybe signing off on legal documents, etc.

I like him less and less. : (
Who wrote it is irrelevant because I darn sure think they approved it. Despite some accusations thrown at DB and JI that they're being used, the subtle hint being, IMO, they're too stupid to understand what's happening and being used like toilet paper - I don't think they are too dumb to get it. I think they understand well enough and can actually count higher than 100, ya know. These people aren't sophisticated, but they aren't stupid. They didn't like the way Short was handling things. They dumped her and kept JT.

JMHO, of course.

My personal thoughts is that's exactly how DB and JI felt about Short, JT was the the writer. He used different words than they would have, but the sentiment is the same.

I couldn't disagree more with laying this press release at JT's door. JT didn't write this behind his client's backs. He wrote it, they approved it, then it went out, IMO. I don't believe for a second that JT would have sent this out without the Irwin camp reading it first and consenting to its release. And I'm uptohere with the subtle accusations that DB and JI are too ignorant, naïve whatever and don't know they're being used by JT or whoever. They may not have a Harvard educations, but they aren't stupid little sheep being tugged along. They chose JT, and after watching Short's presser, I don't blame them. She should have just kept her mouth shut and got on with representing her other clients. Instead she chose to advertise her butt-hurt.

Of course, JMHO.

can I kiss you :)

I'm not calling them stupid, however I don't think that they will disagree with anything that their "very prestigious" and their flashy NY attorney tells them. I think they're more enamored by the glitz and attention that an attorney wearing suits worth thousands, and a very prestigious attorney over some little local attorney.

I can easily see them agreeing to anything and everything they're told to do. JT says here's what we're going to say, their response, ok.

JMHO

IMO, they "dumped" CS and kept JT because he is capable of bringing in the big bucks w/ his connections to the national media. Hence, the lovely family trick or treat scene on GMA this morning.

DB and JI managed to get themselves an exclusive deal with a major media outlet....they aren't stupid. Sniffed that money out and went for it! CS wasn't playing by Debs rules, so out she goes.

I think it's a package deal. Deb and Jer get attorneys. In return GMA gets videos. It's kinda sad really. I doubt the parents like it but how else could they afford the attorneys they desperately need? Cyndi Short said they couldn't afford her on their own.

Hell is paved with good intentions.

From what I read about CS (before she was dumped) is that she is a well known, very experienced, highly respected attorney. One might say, prestigious. I believe she truly had the best interests of DB/JI first in her actions. I also think the bit about her messing things up as to the "relationship" between the FBI and the family is horse hockey. I hope her true reaction to being out of this mess is euphoria. MOO

I disagree. I think DB and JI went with JT because they thought he could do a better job helping them. Full stop. I think they read the pres release and approved it. Also, I think they aren't dazzled about anything. Not that I have seen via their time in the media. In fact, DB has been defiant, and sarcastic when pressed. I don't think DB and JI are enamored of the glitz and attention in the least. IMO, choosing JT implies a sharp calculation.

This could well be true, which again, implies DB and JI aren't wide-eyed little lambs being strung along, with no thoughts of their own.

Sooooo.... At the moment CS is the only one looking for baby Lisa? You know what? If I was in the area I'd look everyday....

Statement from baby Lisa's parents: After hearing there was a press conference and listening to Mrs. Short's statement we are further convinced that we made the correct decision. One of the reasons we relieved Mrs. Short was because she was holding her own press conferences, making statements to the media, and giving tours of the home that we were finding out about after the fact. Moreover, we learned the FBI felt Mrs. Short wasn't being productive in the relationship between the family and the agency.

We want the focus to remain where it should always have been which is on the search for Lisa. Mr Tacopina has secured very prestigious local lawyers to join the team representing the family.

We will not be answering any further question at this time regarding Mrs. Short.

thought the new lawyers need a thread

I wonder how Ms Short feels about that slap in the face after the nice things she said about this family yesterday?

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. I can't figure out if these parents are really just completely clueless or really just completely nasty.

The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round........

I don't understand how more lawyers are going to help find the kidnappers. Do DB and JI honestly believe these "lawyers" are going to help find her baby? What a goat rope.

I'm not sure what you mean? Who's "stringing them along"? I'm sure JT let them know that since the media was interested in the case that there was money to be made. They obviously have no problems being on camera or letting their kids be on camera. I personally would rather not exploit my children, but to each his own.

It has been implied (maybe not by you :) ) that DB and JI are being strung along by high profile JT, because they're too naïve to know any better; it's not their fault they look bad, it's the lawyers, etc, etc. That's the sentiment I disagree with.

Oh I'm sure he did let them know. IMO, JT hasn't done anything that didn't have the Irwin Camp stamp of approval.

ITA. and really what is the purpose of a lawyer if you can't agree on strategy. Which is why imo CS was fired.

That said, JT has done very well for the majority of his clients imo including the infamous Joran one where he shifted some of the public opinion and got the civil suit tossed. He is fierce in his defense of clients, has vast experience with and knows how to handle the media.

For whatever reason and it might be payment he has agreed with parents on the local media issue.

With the focus on the family (and imo LE has made it clear who they have in their sights) they need someone who will protect them, and if that means staying in the background, the parents I mean, and let their attorney do the talking then I understand why. The parents were killing themselves with their statements to the press about Lisa and yes they pled for her return but in the process ..omg.
