I think one of Susan's friends had evidence in an email or FB post from Susan showing Susan stating that she and Josh had camped in this area. (I could be wrong though.)This is not the article I was looking for but it does state that friends and family state that they had been in the area before.
"This remote area is about 30 miles away from where Josh Powell, the only person of interest named in his wifes disappearance, says he took his two young sons camping the night his wife disappeared from their West Valley City home. Police have said Josh Powell liked to gem hunt and family and friends have confirmed that Josh and Susan Powell had visited the area on previous family excursions."

Another thing I thought was interesting is that in one of the interviews the reporter stated that JP told her he has never been to that area.
Her DNA might still be present inside any bone fragments, but DNA, although a stable molecule, can be destroyed with heat.OMG what if JP burned her like in the campfire while they were camping and the boys were sleeping!
I was discussing this yesterday....I believe it's something Kiirsi had stated also. Someone else said it was a FB entry of SP's. I'm really curious about this because I want to know exactly "when" and who discovered this information and if it's been LE's knowledge for 2 years ....why wasn't a look-see given then, as it is only 30 miles from Simpson's Springs? TY

Maybe they should bring in Dr. Vass.
Don't say you've "found" something when you haven't.
If a cadaver dog sits down -- hits on a spot in the middle of the brush and dry grass at the foot of an extinct volcano, then say so! Explain what that means. Surely that won't give away any secrets or compromise the investigation.
But for Heaven's sake, don't say, "We've found human remains. We're confident they're human."
Found means you've seen it. You can hold it. Possess it.
The New World wasn't "found" by Columbus just because a few seagulls did a flyby of La Nina, La Pinta and Santa Maria. He saw it. He went ashore and walked on it. (Of course, he thought it was the orient ... but that's another matter.)
A dog or several dogs "indicating" on a spot of earth is not "found."
Digging in that spot and uncovering hair or bone or tissue, now that's "found."
Taking those remains back to a lab for analysis, that's "found."
A dog with an incredible sniffer ... not found.
Just wanted to repost the press conference from yesterday afternoon- ( the "recent" remarks are rather telling IMO in this video) and also ask if anyone finds a link to today's conference from this afternoon with Chuck Cox- to please post a link. I would love to rewatch it. TIA!

How do you think authorities knew to search Topaz Mntn? Where could they have gotten that information? The likely answer is the search of his WA home on August 25, 2011.
Authorities on Friday resumed their examination of what they called a shallow grave in the central Utah desert in their investigation into a missing mother after a day of digging provided no clues, no remains and no progress.
"It's a lot slower than we had anticipated," said Lt. Bill Merritt of the West Valley City Police Department.
"What we're dealing with right now are very tiny pieces. They all appear to be rock, but we just don't want to miss anything in case there's something that actually is more than that," Merritt said.
Cadaver dogs discovered the location this week amid a renewed search for Susan Powell, and investigators declared they had found human remains earlier in the day Thursday.
Police said theyumed human remains would be found after cadaver dogs alerted on the spot.

LE said that they "assumed" human remains would be found...I wonder if they spoke too soon?
At 11:05 Merritt states he can't speculate on the clothing....just yet. Was it a slip?
