Good enough! I am glad they are letting people know the answers aren't being withheld for "privacy". They are just still working on them. I think that is a good step. And also, giving an age range is an EXCELLENT step!

At 14 or 15, every relationship is serious to them. At that age, things are so immediate, so intense and vastly important. Puppylove is one of the purest forms of love on earth. (I'm not addressing the level of physicality the relationship may have had because they are two kids and I feel that discussing that is inappropriate, especially since their relationship seems to have nothing to do with the case. They deserve privacy from the public on that matter.)
My opinion, of course.
i was 14 once. when i was 14 i called it dating. what i was really doing was writing notes back and forth in class and believing i was sooo in love.
i was 14. no one was taking me out on "dates" but i would refer to it as "dating". so would my friends and family. because i was 14, and it sounded so grown up and cool.
Strictly my opinion but to me all signs point to Abby leaving voluntarily, regretting it soon after the fact and being too embarrassed or ashamed to return. IMO no heinous crime(abduction, sexual predator, etc)was committed here but any adult that harbors a juvenile and keeps them from their family deserves punishment.
I think most of the confusion can be attributed to Abby's hesitance to " fess up". I am in no way bashing or blaming her. I did lots of stupid stuff and put my parents through hell when I was her age so if this is the case I can relate.
Just my theory and I have been wrong many times before. Kimster, if this is seen as victim blaming please zap me. It is truly not my intent.
Regardless of how their relationship is being classified, the boyfriend is both a minor and a victim (like any significant other of a victim would be on this board) and it feels very judgmental and inappropriate to me to discuss the seriousness of their love. To him, it was heartbreaking and that's what matters. Just because someone else might be more heartbroken at a different age doesn't make him less heartbroken. He lost his love and his friend for 9 months. And with that, I am no longer going to comment on the bf.
I wholeheartedly agree. I am going one step farther. Out of respect for Abby and the request of her family, I am choosing to opt out of discussing comments made in MSM by the father of Abby's minor boyfriend quite simply because I am irritated by his continuing to IMO insert himself into this case. His comments in the recently linked daily mail article fly in the face of the family request to let LE do their jobs and give them privacy.
I've been getting this feeling also. If so, the question remains was she coerced, groomed or what exactly? Late 40s? Either way if this 40 year old male housed her and kept her from her family for all these months it is still a crime. We just don't know to what extent and Abby is a child and children are easily coerced. I do wonder if maybe she is not being forthcoming with information and trying to protect him to some extent. It will all come out eventually. It sounds like it might be in this persons best interest to come forward on his own.

I am wondering if anyone has come forward to the FBI to claim the $20,000 reward money.
Also, if she was out if school that long, she will need to repeat her grade, poor kid. I am so glad she is safe!

Wagner said if there were a criminal defendant in this case, that person would not be asked to pay restitution since the police are paid to solve cases anyway.
"It's what we do," said Wagner. "It's our job."

Did you not read the article? He had no choice but to be inserted into the case. Explaining what has happened to him with regard to this case does not prevent LE from doing their job and it is not a violation of the family's privacy.
