Moxie Vi, I am so very sorry!

I personally don't consider a threesome as something which can be considered depraved or deviant behavior.
I find the whole puritanical pretense rather stifling and potentially more hurtful to Elizabeth's family and her memory if it does turn out that she was a willing participant.
Whether or not you like the fact, young people today engage in these behaviors, and closing your eyes to the reality does nothing to change that fact.

Just because it's reality, doesn't make it morally right or socially acceptable.

I am happy they sealed the records! No family/friends should have to read about anything like this.

Not sure if she was willing however with the charges it suggests to me that it is possible. Who knows? There is a lot of this going on with the younger crowd and to some it is not deviant (?sp) but experimenting.

She has known both of them for about a year. She was closer to the GF than to him. IMO this should be kept private if in fact she was a willing participant...she lost her life and should be remembered for all the good that she did while she was alive.

So we should suppress news stories, crime evidence and public records because someone might feel bad? We're already well on our way to becoming a nation of politically correct wimps where long-used common words and phrases now seem to to always offend someone, somewhere. Burying your head in the sand and pretending something doesn't exist, doesn't make it so.

I am starting to think that he may have put her somewhere else...

I have no clue why the AG's office is continuing to search the waters near Pierce Island. The currents there are very strong and any object placed in those waters would be swiftly carried away unless it was heavily weighted down. If, and I believe that's a big "if", the body was disposed of in those waters, without any weights, it would be long gone by now. If it was disposed of with heavy weights attached, unless the person placing it there had access to a boat, it would be only a couple of feet from the shoreline. Based on what I've read about his education, background, and interests, Mazzaglia seems like a very intelligent individual. Couple that with the fact that a murder case is very difficult to prove without a body and it's easy to see why a murder suspect might point LE in the wrong direction when searching for the body. IMO, Lizzi Marriott's body isn't, and never was, in the water near Pierce Island. I think Mazzaglia's shrewd enough to know that if he points LE in the wrong direction they may never find the body and the chance of him being convicted is greatly reduced.

Good points, but what if the girlfriend told the police Seth dumped the body off Pierce Island. I could be wrong, but I think she was the one who pointed police in the direction of Seth as being responsible for Liz's disappearance. Originally, they said (Seth and gf) Liz never arrived at their apartment. I think heavy questioning by police got the truth out. This is just my opinion--- not a fact.

Not much about the gf has been mentioned, but I do think she pointed the finger at Seth. She must have been questioned by LE and broke down, IMO. She worked at Target along with Liz, so they knew each other.

Some of the media stories do say there may be other people charged, so I'm thinking the girlfriend could be charged in the future. Unless, they use her to testify against him. I have a feeling she helped him dump the body, which makes her an accomplice to the murder. This is all speculation though.

I have a feeling Liz was tricked or a situation got out of control (Seth became an octopus at the apartment). I'm not sure she participated willingly in a threesome and I don't think she went over to the apartment in Dover with the intent to participate in a threesome. I could be wrong, but the whole idea just doesn't ring true to me. Another thing, maybe Seth and/or the gf drugged Liz or got her comfortably buzzed, then made the moves on her. Maybe they told her to stay over, because the drive was long and then things got weird in the middle of the night, while she was in bed or on the couch. A lot of possibilities . . . . JMO

BBM by some accounts there were more than 3 people there.

In my many years of life nothing surprises me...Seth was a friend but not someone who I had his phone number but someone who when I saw him we would have a conversation.

I think if there wasn't a death of a young beautiful girl and I found out about his sexual desires or habits I would just shrug it off and think what a sick puppy he was...I probably wouldn't stop talking to him because apparently there are others who share his desires KWIM and I try not to judge people if it's not hurting me.

Whether or not this was an accident or consensual does not negate the fact that he or someone he knows threw her body into the ocean and let the family worry/search for her for 3 days!! That makes him not only a sick puppy but a disgrace IMO.

I agree with you somewhat...in other ways I don't feel this is any of our business if she was a willing participant.

If she was a willing participant I am sure she didn't say "hey mom and dad I am into this new sexual thing, let me explain it". I for one as a parent would not want everyone in the world to know this about my daughter IMO.

Sometimes things are left better unsaid/unknown

I hope that's not true. I had an acquaintance whose brother disappeared in a kayak off Odiorne and his body did eventually turn up, but it took a long time.

I would want the body for her family, primarily, and secondarily because it could seal the case if they could find evidence of a sexual encounter which was consistent with whatever other evidence they have.

Skigirl you are so right. If the body was dumped into those waters it could take months for it to surface. The current is very strong there and at Odiorne Point

if the accounts are true from his ex girlfriend it very well could be that this was not consensual at all. (links upstream)

My ex is a CEO (illustrating normalcy, not bragging) and happens to be a throat grabber/choker. It's part of why I determined we were no longer compatible. At the same time, if he accidentally hurt me I'm sure he'd call 911.

I was also raped and almost choked to death in December. There are varying degrees and purposes.

Can't believe I admitted that.

No chokers in my future.

Oh my gosh, you are very fortunate indeed to still be among the living I would say. What in the world is the attraction to your throat - goodness, but I don't understand this.

Would recommend that you wear a neck brace for your own protection when out and about.

Yes, stay away from the chokers - my gawd.

If they are true. By all other accounts, he was always a complete gentleman while in the presence of other woman. I always got the feeling that if someone came onto him, he would run the other way.

Maybe he found a group where this was/is acceptable behavior behind closed doors. IMO

I am not going to doubt what that girl had to say... it was harrowing... insomuch that she now speaks out at take back the night on campus.

I am very glad that LE have interviewed her and are investigating this. I wouldn't be surprised if this is how the whole "sexual encounter" stuff came into the news media to begin with (re: his history and background)

Maybe in person he was that way, but clearly he was looking for some fun or he wouldn't have had profiles on okcupid and the other sites -- his okcupid was still up until recently, I looked through it several times (he hadn't logged in for awhile though, 2009 was the last time on that account). Speaking from my own experience, I look very sweet and innocent and I am an artist for a living, I have done some very crazy things behind closed doors, met people online in the past through some of those sites, etc. With the exception of maybe 2-3 of the closest people in my life, I would never tell anyone and I know no one would ever guess. Because I want to keep my private life separate from my professional, and because Maine/NH are actually really small and it seems like, at least in southern Maine, lots of people can find out your business (and judge you) pretty quickly.

Really hope her body is found soon... it's so cold and rainy here today (and supposed to be tomorrow), probably not great searching conditions.

The problem in this case is that we have no idea if Liz participated in this threesome with her own free will and if it was her intentions when she visited the apartment in Dover, She isn't here to answer the question, so I think it is best to get the full story before coming to any conclusion. A threesome between consenting adults is not against the law, but it is generally not accepted as the norm. It is looked at as kinky and unconventional enough that the general public may think she participated in very risky behavior. It casts a bad shadow on her. It is unfair to this murdered young woman and her family. Seth murdered her, so I wouldn't put it past him to lie about what lead up to it. JMO

I could be wrong, but I think Seth had hidden demons. I knew a guy once, who was quiet as a lamb and very polite, but found out he got caught making sneaky, disgustingly dirty crank calls to women. It surprised me and made me rethink people in general. Sometimes a book can't be judged by the cover. JMO

Thankfully, the tide currents go both ways. I think this is what LE is thinking. Maybe she is still in range.

I agree that there's no need for everyone to start broadcasting information on their personal sex lives. The difference here is that this is a news story and it involves a crime. When a crime is involved, I believe the public has right to know the details, be they good or bad. When you say a news organization should not report personal information which may impact the reputation or feelings of someone, what you're doing is saying you want some nameless, faceless newspaper editor to make a decision for you as to which information you're exposed to. That's censorship. And I want no part of it.
