He's putting the focus where it belongs. Many of his sentences start with, "The defendant...." "The defendant....." It's about Seth. About how vulnerable she is at 17. He's the one w/all the experience. Kat is not on trial; Seth is. It's about Seth.

Excellent, IMO. Very, very good.

Ward calls McDonough at typical 17 year old who exaggerates, is dramatic.. He says the defendant used her teenage angst and vulnerability to reel her in. And he was every bit the gentleman at the start of their relationship. "He doesn’t tell her he’s going to whip her with belt buckles, that she’ll be punished sexually for not bringing him a woman, that to be with him she'd have to cut off communications with her mother."

ITA. I think the prosecution held their cards close to the vest much better than the defense during witness testimony and cross causing the defense to walk right into this totally logical trap.

WARD: She was not allowed to have male friends… unless they were gay… just because he didn’t hit her it doesn’t mean it wasn’t abusive… she knew when he was angry. BDSM sex was a daily part of their relationship. When the defendant was the dominant, she was the slave or the sub. If she pleased him she got to be the sub, if she displeased him she was the slave, Sex defined their lives on a daily basis.

Ward turns to talking about Lizzi ... shows her goofy texts, describes her as happy, hard-working, going to school full-time, working at Target, meeting new friends in NH. She was close to her family and had a loving relationship with Brittany. " Lizzi didn’t hide from her that she was hanging out with McDonough... the defense brings it up against her… in an attempt to show you there was some sort of sexual attraction there."
