Hi would really like to know why Seth gets a public defender when he had funds to secure a private attorney and with the "help" of tarot cards went with the public defender...one of the reasons being to have more more to give his mother and Kat. Does not seem very efficient use of taxpayer's $$

The judge is hearing from the attorneys before the jury comes into court. They are discussing some audio tapes that the defense would like to introduce. One has to do with a conversation Kat McDonough has with Seth Mazzaglia about her family and another is about finances... the defense si alleging that it impeaches her testimony that Seth had a controlling influence in her life. His role, approach in activities in her life... apparently there is also more content that addresses her interest in women.

I don't know that he had the funds for an attny, it seems to me he had his choice of lawyers who would act as a public defender. Not sure how things work in NH in that regard but I don't think if you're capable of paying for an attny that you can still choose a public defender.

Defense Atty Joachim Barth says one of the tapes is Kat's discussion with Roberta Gerkin while she was secretly wired... in listening to State's Atty Peter Hinckley ... he's claiming that the taped conversations are hearsay... and he's making the point that Kat is on her sixth day of re-cross... and that defense is rehashing...

Kat thought if she destroyed Lizzi's phone and deleted that text that Lizzi had arrived that there would be no records of those texts. She didn't think that the phone company could supply them for the LE.

Another couple of random & unrelated thoughts (so difficult in the a.m.):

After the horribleness of trying to deal with the Holly (in AZ country) courtroom, & giving up, I am now a BIG fan of WAT. There are always tech issues with streaming, etc., but WAT delivers, IMO.

Other thought:
During this trial about BDSM, serious Tarot, etc., & assorted odd chit, IMO, I feel like a 1st semester college student who has walked into a room of PhD's giving a lecture on Advanced Weird Sex and the Odd Folks Who Dabble (certainly & obviously not intended towards any of the good WS'ers on this board).

I am way out of my depth here and feel ignorant & glad of it. But I am making no judgements, other than guilty or not-guilty. Naive Nelly that I yam.

Whew! This is some ride at the fair.

Well in the "tarot tape" he did mention if he used public defender he would have money to give Kat for her art etc. so it was pretty clear to me that some of those in consideration were working for $$...I always assumed that if you use a public defender you are assigned the next one up who is qualified for the case?

Given the tone of arguments today by Barth does anyone really think the jury will have the case early next week as the judge told the jury??? Judge is going to have to stop this at some time because she could be impeached from now to eternity.
