I haven't decided on what this witness is saying. Getting hit to getting the hitting over with. What happened to being at the monster's beck and call until the storm passes? Or stay out of his way/hide until he goes to bed, passes out or the storm passes?

Dr. Hampton says the goal of abuse is not to injure or hurt but to gain compliance... there's psychological ... attacking self esteem, another is to attack authority and responsibility...

I am not a medical prof but I believe this is called decorticate posture and signifies brain damage. I don't know how quickly it sets in.

It's hard for me to visualize exactly what this position looked like from KM's description, but yes, it does sound like decorticate posture. It happens when key structures in your higher parts of your brain (thalamus, cortex and/or others) are damaged and some reflexes that are normally inhibited become disinhibited. It is not good, and is rarely reversible. That amount of damage to the cortex would usually take at least a minute or two because it takes neurons some time to stop functioning in the absence of oxygen.
