It's hard for me to visualize exactly what this position looked like from KM's description, but yes, it does sound like decorticate posture. It happens when key structures in your higher parts of your brain (thalamus, cortex and/or others) are damaged and some reflexes that are normally inhibited become disinhibited. It is not good, and is rarely reversible. That amount of damage to the cortex would usually take at least a minute or two because it takes neurons some time to stop functioning in the absence of oxygen.

I never heard of that. Wow, it's exactly as she described.

Gee, didn't Seth tell her he wanted her to keep up with her FB and social contacts? Barth won't let any of that go unnoticed.

:seeya: Minor.
Can I just say I appreciate your posts on a certain other thread :)

Thanks :)

IIRC it was your mention of this case on the other thread that brought me here

Thanks for the visual, and yes, just like she described, with the victim lying down, not sitting up.

Wow, Im kind of surprised that some of you do not see Seth as an abuser

Also, social abuse....the greater portion of a victim's life that's controlled, thru alienation of friends and family, and thru dependency, being the sole provider perhaps, the less likely she is going to leave me.

He certainly is an abuser, both emotionally and physically.

Is that a Game of Thrones reference Geev? (Syrio Forel).

LOL I was trying to use the Queen's English and probably failed badly. :blushing:

Great post with the picture. It is exactly how she described, however, I think it makes more sense for this to have happened more with her version to Barth than the GJ. Her sitting on Lizzie, at the same time being choked with the ropes and it eventually caused brain damage. A fast attack of strangulation would not seem to cause this posturing IMO. I have seen this happen several times as a Medic

Excellent work on Nymeria's part. You enhance the neighborhood.:blushing:

I agree she looked shock at the quick ending...then no re re direct. I wonder is she is aware that the judge ruled no re-direct? If not aware, I can see that making her concerned as if the prosecutors didn't help her "fix" things in the end. I hope she worries about her immunity deal tonight

It was like "wait - I didn't get the last word". I think that ticked her off, and she wasn't expecting it -- she didn't get to boo hoo, or say how horrible it was, blah blah blah. Barth did good in that regard.

He certainly is an abuser, both emotionally and physically.

I think he's an abuser as well. I see Kat as an enabler to that behaviour - taking and enjoying the abuse (not trying to end the cycle so to speak) then lying for her abuser. I know it happens, but never in a case like this as I've heard. He murdered a woman and she totally went along with it.

By no means do I see her as a mousy, brainwashed victim -- maybe that's the difference between her and other victims of abuse. Kat loved it.

they never mentioned if Lizzi fought back---just that she was strangled and died--
