Nicole Kidman

Well, she certainly has more resources than you or I... but Tom not only has the resources of his own making behind him, but he has the whole resources of SCiENTOLOGY (a HUGE cult) behind him. That has to be intimidating. We probably could never imagine what they could do in LA... we most likely aren't even scratching the surface... and besides, like I said... she may feel as if she wasn't allowed to raise the kids, as if she were an outsider, and that the kids don't choose to be with her anyway, so it would be a waste. So to take what time she does have and enjoy it... and live where she chooses... may be smart. She is only a plane ride away.
well, it's not like they (the Scientology folks) are the Mafia or something....what would they do, break her legs if she pursued custody? Rub her out if she decided to live in the same neighborhood as her children? Exactly what does Scientology do if NK hires a lawyer and demands shared custody/fights a goofy pre-nup? What are their powers exactly?

A plane ride away is a little too far for this mother, moo....

So, if you're scientologist, you can't breastfeed!

Not according to Hubbard.

Silent birth and infant care

Main article: Silent birth
<<Hubbard stated that the delivery room should be as silent as possible during birth.[55] This stems from his belief that birth is a trauma that may induce engrams into the baby. Hubbard asserted that words in particular should be avoided because any words used during birth might be reassociated by an adult later on in life with their earlier traumatic birth experience.
Hubbard also wrote that the mother should use "as little anesthetic as possible."[56] In the 1960s Hubbard gave certain dietary recommendations.[57] In the 1960s, Hubbard wrote that breastfeeding should be avoided if the mother is smoking or is lacking good nutrition herself.[58] Hubbard compared common replacement formulas which he described as "mixed milk powder, glucose and water, total carbohydrate," with what he considered the "skim breast milk from … overworked mother" that "smoke and sometimes drink" and offered—as an alternative to commercial products—what he called the "Barley Formula" made from barley water, homogenized milk and corn syrup. Reports about adding honey to the formula have turned out to be inaccurate and are not part of the original recipe by Hubbard.[59] Hubbard claims that he "picked it up in Roman days";[60] although the refining process that produces corn syrup was not invented until the 19th century.[61] Hubbard crafted the barley formula to, in his words, provide "a heavy percentage of protein"[60] and called it "the nearest approach to human milk that can be assembled easily."[62] The formula is still popular with many Scientologists, although health practitioners advise that this formula is an inappropriate replacement due to the absence of important nutrients like Vitamin C, and that it causes scurvy without addition of further vital nutrients. Well yes, that's the official stance of Scientology just as rhythm method only is the official stance of the Catholic Church.

My question is - how many Catholic women are on BC pills and how many Scientology women breastfeed? I imagine there are cafeteria-types in both organizations....neither the Pope or L. Ron Hubbard are in these women's bedrooms!

If it were my children NO FORCE ON EARTH would stop me.
That being said fighting for them may not make them live with her but later on as adults they would see what parent fought for them.

A plane ride away is a bit to far IMO to really parent.

Like Sandra said I would live as nearby as possible to them.

"Hello, Larry King? this is Nicole Kidman, I have a story for you!"

No kidding!

It's very difficult to filter fact from fiction when it comes to Scientology. Some of them seem like whack jobs. Some of them seem spiritually centered and joyous. I could say the same thing about the Baptists I know.

Hi South :)

Scientology is a cult- at least Christianity has some merit.

The founder was a science fiction writer, Scientology is fiction- out of the mind of a lunatic.

Hey sweetie!

Now I know you must really feel passionate in your beliefs about Scientology if you're willing to give Christianity a shout-out! :D

You know, I'm just cynical enough to think L. Ron's beliefs that we all descended from aliens make about as much sense as the belief that 2000 years ago some dude came along and told us all to love each other and trust God and we rewarded His efforts by nailing him to a cross!

Of course I am being a bit of smart-🤬🤬🤬....but just a bit! I do understand that, as of today, Christ can be proven historically and Hubbard's alien puppetmaster from planet what-the-heckever cannot.

But who knows how we all got here and what we're doing? Maybe Hubbard was onto something. I'm not capable of proving he wasn't and none of us really knows, we only believe. Such is the nature of faith.

I'm a cheerleader for anyone seeking the answers via a cult/mainstream religion/MLM/naked yoga on the beach worshiping Ra the Sun God....take your pick....as long as their actions cause no harm to others.

I do not, of course, get down with Scientology's harmful nature anymore than I get down with the harmful nature of Christianity/Islam, etc..etc..

Good post, as always South....that made me laugh.

Well, that's right, of course, but I've read enough on Scientology to say their actions do harm others, the list of people who have committed suicide to get out of this cult is quite alarming.

I hear you, narlacat, and as always, respect your views on Scientology. I too have read lots of craziness and have read many of OLG's posts with so much good, but disturbing, personal experience.

I am not ready to become a Scientology apologist!! LOL! But you know me - I've always got an eye out for the other side of things.

I do find the secrecy that seems to cloak Scientology off-putting. And of course, secrecy is one of the big red flags when it comes to classifying something as a cult or a religion.

I think if you have found something that works to make the lives of human beings on Planet Earth better and more joyous and more peaceful and more free then you have a moral obligation to sing that truth from the rooftops.

This is, of course, the idea behind witnessing your faith. And I surely don't see Scientologists sending people to other countries to proclaim the good news, though I do see them sending people to other countries to up their numbers and their wallets.

When all is said and done, the only thing I'm pretty sure of is that if we humans were handed The Truth with instructions in print and on video, we would - in service to our own egos - find some way to screw it up!! Bless our hearts....I'm sure glad I believe in a patient God!

LOL you're funny....god I hope you're joking LOL

Actually if I had to pick, I'd pick Christianity over Scientology any day of the week...Jesus may or may not have been of a virgin birth, but he was real and he was cool- who could forget the loaves and fishes yarn.....and didn't he turn water into wine?- that was even cooler :p

Yeah - Jesus was the man! On so many levels. I've never cared one way or the other whether He came from a virgin birth, but I am so glad He came!
