Sad for the family to endure such a horrific tragedy.

With that said- One could also read the above comment as the Aunt "was crazy about Max " and is in the sphere of people who had both motive and opportunity. Not to mention she may be a victim but she was the last VM on Rz''s phone.

Power is back where I am from superstorm Sandy. Grateful for heat and electricity tonight- ( it is so cold out ) hundreds of thousands still with out power so I will be saying a prayer for the victims in NJ NY and CT.

I agree about the Aunt "was crazy about Max" and the potential suspect for Rebecca's murder.

We have a home in the tri-state and are glad we had our full power back on yesterday. We had some flood damage but insurance will pay for most :) Happy and relieved to hear that you are safe and sound. Let's keep those in the affected areas in our continued prayers.

I don't recall the exact order of the theories floated re: Maxie's fall, but it seems to me the "tragic accident" morphed into "Rebecca's fault" (which versions vary, but include: neglect, delayed 911 call, gave/withheld CPR, lied,
suffocated, and jujitsu'd over the railing) only after Rebecca's death was deemed a suicide and the public wasn't buying it. Is this correct? TIA.

Well, there are no facts to substantiate the rumors that Rebecca neglected to get help for Max by delaying the 911 call or that she did anything to hurt Max. There is also no proof that she knew jui jitsu. Even if she did know it which has not been proven would that automatically lead one to the conclusion that she used it to kill Max?

There is definitely confusion about whether Rebecca did any component of CPR or not. Some reports say yes but the EMT's said no.

I can totally see where a hysterical and angry mother would want to kill someone they thought neglected to watch their child which resulted in an accident. I can also see that if a doctor said their child may have been suffocated before falling and the EMT report indicated that no CPR was initiated then that mother might go into an uncontrollable rage. I am not saying that every mother would react this way but some may.

Dina already had ill feelings toward Rebecca prior to this so I'm sure that added to the fire. Also, it seems that Jonah may have been her go to person who fed her information about what Rebecca said happened. Who knows how that played out given their history. Nina and Adam were at the bottom of this chain only getting information filtered through their sibs. I don't believe Nina killed Rebecca. There is no proof that she was at the mansion that night. I believe her purpose was to provide an alibi for Dina. Jmoo.

I agree that Nina was obviously crazy about Max. She also had motive and opportunity.

A text was sent from her phone at 10:41 PM which was right after all the action started at the Speckles. Just prior to the text a witness saw Dina on the property and neighbors reported a woman's scream for help, loud music and/or a loud party going on around this time.

Since Dina was the one reportedly seen there she may have used Nina's phone to place Nina in the vicinity. Dina and Nina spent that day together so maybe they concocted a scheme to switch places and phones at the hospital.

Since Nina probably wasn't there then her DNA would not be found in the area. The police would look for Nina's DNA because she was the one who claimed to be there not Dina. They never took Dina's fingerprints and DNA only Nina's.

Also, Nina allegedly drove Jonah's car that night. Coincidentally, that car has been destroyed so it cannot be analysed to find out who really drove it that night whether Nina or Dina.

However, Nina may have been there because she was concerned that her fingerprints were on the cell phone. The cell phone was in the hanging room and had been accessed at 12:50 AM. The murder was well into progress at this time so maybe he/she/they concocted the suicide theory and trigger voice mail story as a cover-up at that time.

Strange but I don't recall hearing any results on fingerprint testing for Rebecca's phone. Does anyone else recall anything? I only remember Nina's paranoia about it.

Aside from Nina's repeating she used, thus touched, Rebecca's phone, she stated she didn't touch the gate. This has always intrigued me…

Nina:
"…there’s a gate that goes to the back yard – and I didn’t touch the gate – didn’t try to open the gate in anyway – I just – there’s like little slats in it? and I just kinda tried to look through but it was very dark…"

So were fingerprints taken on the gate? I don't recall but presume not. Although there were several photos of LE there, in front of the gate, seemingly bending over to get a closer look. So why was it so imperative to Nina to state she didn't touch the gate??

One wonders why she went on about the gate. Apparently she had a concern about it. I wonder what she saw, did and heard that night. We will probably never know unless someone decides to speak up.

A passerby did notice a woman at the house that night and reported it to police following Zahau's death July 13. But that witness's description of the woman does not match that of Nina Romano, according to Zahau family attorney Anne Bremner.
In a series of emails and interviews with News 8, Bremner said the witness now believes the woman he saw was Nina's sister, Dina Shacknai.

Such a strange interview and statements made by NR.

As you already know, fraternal twins have different DNA.

I wonder if Nina's "adult" son is friendly with his cousin's (half?) brothers and sisters - the ones who come to Coronado for the summer from Arizona and SC - and their friends, those delightful "boys" next door? Because he was a passenger in Rebecca's car, and a guest in Dina's house. And, Maxie was his cousin.

Why is he invisible in all of this? Maybe he escorted his mom down the street to Jonah's house that night they got to town; it was dark, she would have been upset about Maxie's accident and was probably pretty pissed off too, when her text message was ignored. Maybe he touched the gate...or Rebecca's phone. Does he look like his mother? Or, like his Aunt Dina?

Inparadise, do you know? Anybody?

He is african-american, as is his father.

Oh my. That surely answers one question. Or two.
Actually, it covers all three!
Thank you!
