Respectfully snipped

Assuming this is a genuine kidnapping, the person who did it is usually just trying to get away with it. He’s not going to put himself in jeopardy by going out and doing it again.

Especially when everyone is on guard.

True in some cases, not always. Some of these actors have a insatiable drive they cannot or will not control. They repeatedly attempt, even when the public has been alerted.

Quick check in the Philly area. Second paragraph.

"The 14-year-old had left St. Dorothy and was outside of his house when he said a man drove up in a dark van with white stripes.

"He stops the van. Says to the kid 'What's up? Hop in,'" said Chitwood. "And the kid got scared. But then his father was there. So the father walked up to see what was going on and the van took off."

Police said the driver fled on Burmont Road. The teen's father notified police.

That suspect is believed to be a middle-aged Hispanic man who was wearing aviator sunglasses."

Police: Children walking home from Upper Darby schools confronted by men in cars

Hmmm...finding a pattern of Hispanic men in vans in the general area IS disturbing. Similar to Dulce's alleged abductor. Wonder if any surveillance video is available for that incident?

Yes, if they’re a serial predator. But even then it’s incredibly unusual.

There is usually a cooling off period.

I’m posting a few to highlight luring tactics. Parents are on high alert right now with kids hearing the word kidnapping. Kids are paying attention. Can you stop and think way back for a minute? Do you remember as a child hearing the warnings? A child’s imagination can run wild. The boogeyman is real, they think.

Right. I hate to mention Bundy, especially since technology is so different now, and I'm sick of hearing about the creep, lol, but he's a great example of being brazen...

That one turned out to be false. But thanks, it was believed in the beginning. I would have too. Always believe the child until child proves you wrong. I’ll go look for confirmation in a few. imo
Thanks for clarifying

I agree that it is alarming about the sexual assault and sexual offenders but those offenders go for teenagers not prepubescent little girls, thats a totally different critter. They are at risk for reoffending and attacking more teenage girls. I believe we should be looking for offenders that have a history of assault on little girls, not necessarily little boys either. Not tweens, not teens or adult women but little girls. & if I'm not mistaken.m, accordng to WS TOS, we cannot sleuth the offender registry and post about what we find here.
*technically prepuescent isnt even a 5 yr old, its 9 yrs to 14 yrs the time before puberty begins. Its sick that offender fall into categories but I believ a lot of research has been done about this. They have a predilection for a certain age bracket..i just read an article on crossover offenders from the 90's. They do rely on the offender self reporting so maybe this is all wrong but its what we always seem to hear. I would surmise that its not impossible for an offender to start small amd graduate to what they really prefer? That sounds so horrible.
Is there anyone on WS that can educate us on the likelihood of a crossover offender?
Child murders are very rare here in Sweden, and child murders involving sexual assault even rarer, but in the two of the most well-known cases, the perpetrators had killed a ten-year-old girl and either before or later a grown woman. In the case of ten-year-old Helen in 1989, the man murdered a 26-year-old woman about five months later. He was arrested 15 years later, but as far as I have found the only crimes he had committed during those years involved killing animals belonging to his wives, and domestic violence. Helén murder - Wikipedia
The other case involving a ten-year-old girl, Engla, happened in 2008. In that case the perpetrator had murdered a 31-year-old woman eight years earlier. The man was caught in a couple of days thanks to a person trying out a new camera, who had taken photos both of the girl on her bike, as well as a car passing less than a minute later. Anders Eklund (murderer) - Wikipedia
Just because someone attacks one kind of victim doesn't mean that they are not interested in other kinds too. In both cases of the little girls, the perpetrators happened upon them alone, and took the chance to abduct them.

On Saturday, June 8 at approximately 5 pm, New Bedford Police responded to Hazelwood Park in the South End of the city on a complaint of a male who attempted to lure a five-year-old child away from the area.

Police met with the child’s mother, who stated her child was in the playground area when a male confronted the child and asked the child to accompany him to another location. The child ran away from the male and informed the mother.

Why does it matter where she was born? She's a missing child. And who cares who does and doesn't speak Spanish? We're all looking for verified by LE details, no matter what language it's in. Most of us read Spanish well enough to get the high level details. Where she was born or her origins simply don't matter.
Excuse me, what? Why are you being so rude for no reason, at all? Are you asking if it matters, to me, where she was born? Then, the answer is no. BUT, some posters were confused because of a not so good translation from a spanish article, and were asking if she was or wasn't born in Mexico. What is wrong in helping out on clearing things up? People were asking and I replied. There's simply no need to reply to a post that literally harms or insults nobody in such a aggressive way. I don't want to cause any problems around here, I'm just trying to be helpful.

Description is the same. New Bedford also has a high % of illegal immigrants. They may want to look at this case

Yes & most serial predators have a type. A sicko into 5 year old girls isn’t going to go back out & snatch a 10 year old boy or a pubescent pre-teen. Exceptions exist, but rarely. Looking at every Tom, Dick & Harry, or Juan, Pedro & Miguel on the SO registries is not going to help find Dulce, imho. The profile of who took her is very specific. Again, mo.

30 years ago, van der Zande founded Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower, a group that teaches kids and adults how to prevent kidnappings, abuse, bullying and sexual assault.

The Kidpower program teaches kids to take charge of their safety. If someone approaches them and they feel threatened, they are told to run away. If they can't, Kidpower instructors teach kids how to create a barrier by putting their hands in front of their body and yelling "Stop. Leave. Help."

"The reason we practice the words to say is so that you don't have to think," said van der Zande. "When you are yelling, "Stop Leave Help" you are taking away that privacy and control. You are getting the attention of other people and you are creating uncertainty in the mind of the attacker about what is going to happen."

Bundy was unique because he basically devolved into a spree killer at the end.

The walls were closing in, and his final victim was well outside his preferred victimology.

She was a child.

But that isn’t typical.

ETA: I don’t see any reason to believe this perpetrator is some sort of serial offender.

He could be, but there’s just nothing that points to that yet.

I'm new to this website, although I have been here several times during different cases. I also find it sad that Dulce has been missing for 2 weeks and her story is fading, probably because she is Hispanic and not white. I think because her mother faced so much backlash, instead of speaking out she is isolating herself, and that is helping the case disappear. Mollie Tibbets was in the media every single day until she was found, but a lot of that had to do with the people who loved her loudly advocating for her through all channels, via news and social media.

I don't think that Dulce was taken by someone not local. I think the person knew the park and saw an opportunity or was perhaps following them or had seen them before. The mother is 19 years old. She is pregnant with her 3rd child. She is very young and despite her having 3 kids, is likely immature in many ways.

I found pictures of someone, a hispanic male, who frequents that park, who owns bright orange sneakers, and drives a red vehicle, but it's not a van..I emailed that information to the police chief in Bridgeton yesterday. Bright orange shoes, to me, are not that common. I also found an old picture, maybe 3 years old, of his children at that park, and there's a little girl sitting with them who looks a lot like Dulce, age 3. She has very specific eyes. This is all speculation on my part, and this is all my own opinion. There were other details about this person that seemed off, but he works a job that would have been off at that time.

I think that someone knows something and they are too afraid to come forward for fear of immigration status, given what is currently going on in this country. That fear is real and warranted and I feel is hindering the progress in this case.

“...My message to anyone with information about Dulce Maria Alavez, her whereabouts and her condition, in this state, under my authority, under this directive, they can feel comfortable and safe reaching out to the Bridgeton Police Department without fear of immigration consequences, without fear whatsoever."

Grewal made this statement during a Friday press conference where he announced a directive that essentially blocks ICE from cooperating with local New Jersey officials.

Like they are going to trust this. Would you?

'Operation Dark Night' where a trafficking ring was shut down.
It sounds crazy but Ive never seen so many reports of attempted abduction in my life in a few months.

NC toddler rescued in Texas human-trafficking bust after mom handed child 'off to a pimp': police
There was a recent case a child was reported missing with her mother. Mom was in Louisiana & left her 4 yr old daughter with the pimp or pimps people in Texas. It happens, they use kids to control women, and groom them. I imagine even women not related to the child would be controlled somehow if they thought their actions could effect a child, maybe I'm giving too much credit to them idk. Im just looking for a path in which Dulce is found alive. Best case scenario she is with a family that wanted a 5 yr old to raise.

Also, We cant forget there was a child under 10 yrs, murdered and dumped near a little league field in Delaware, just an hour travel time, from Bridgeton, NJ, the Friday BEFORE Dulce's abduction and I understand the child is still unidentified, it makes me wonder if a mother is missing too. Nobody reported that child missing apparently that we know of. Its all very sad. This did not, technically, turn out to be false. Living in the area, I see these stories as they happen. I tend to only pay attention to hyper-local news and unbiased national and world news. So when a hyper-local news story pops up concerning a child (one of my special concerns as a mother and child behavior specialist) I pay attention.

The attempted abduction investigation in Howell, NJ was ultimately abandoned due to a lack of evidence. It was not determined to "be false". The implication that it was false was certainly there, but that was not what the police chief said. There was simply a lack of evidence, which, interestingly enough, is the same problem we have with this case (other than the blatantly missing child).

The Howell, NJ case had video surveillance evidence, witness testimony from the victim and several other witnesses, and a description of a vehicle to boot. But when the police couldn't find the actor OR the vehicle OR figure out how to reenact the crime during the time when the child wasn't on camera, they decided *THERE WASN'T ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO CONTINUE THE INVESTIGATION*.

I don't think it's necessarily a coincidence that a child of the same sex and same age (1 year difference) was kidnapped the very next day, just a few hours away. It should most certainly be taken into consideration. The victims are far too similar to dismiss. And the reason for discontinuing the investigation was NOT PROOF that it was a FALSE claim. It was LACK OF EVIDENCE. It's the same problem we have here.
