What makes you think it could be any of those girls? I don't see anything to rule most of them in or out, though Spickler seems really unlikely due to circumstances and Miller has a dental plate that isn't mentioned in our girl's description. I didn't go back through the thread to see whether any of them had been previously discussed.

I suggested them because they are around the same age as the Jane Doe and they haven't been excluded.

Jeanette Miller and Cathy Moulton can be ruled out based on dentals because the UID had perfect teeth.

Patricia Spencer can probably be ruled out based on the circumstances. There is no DNA though and no dentals.

Debra Spickler can be ruled out based on the circumstances and the fact that her DNA is in CODIS so it should rule it out. No dentals though.

Janet Kramer can be ruled out based on the fact that DNA is CODIS so it should rule her out based on the fact it has not hit. Also no dentals.

Based on the fact the UID has what is described as perfect teeth, most of the rule outs can be determined by dentals comparison if they are available for the missing person.

At this point this UID is probably someone who has not been reported missing (like Cali was). But this case will never be forgotten.

Based on comments from some WSers who work more closely with the identification process, it appears we can't automatically assume ruleouts by default any more.

I was just reading the Wikipedia aticle, "List of unidentified murder victims in the United States". I came across this girl and I read that it was suspected that her hair was a wig. Couldn't they test it to see if it was indeed human hair? I'm new to the whole process.

Quality wigs are often made of human hair.

My understanding of the way decomposition works is that while the strands of hair can survive many years, they come loose from the scalp after only a few weeks. A wig is made by stitching hair, whether human, animal, or synthetic, to a cap made of some sort of fine flexible material. If the material had all decayed, the hairs would have been loose around the head just the same as if it had come loose from her scalp. They could detect animal or synthetic hair, but a natural hair wig would look just the same.

That does open up some new channels for trying to figure out who she is, though.

If it was made of human hair, wouldn't that be considered a high-end wig? Maybe that could indicate wealth.

Otherwise--that just opens up a whole new door of possibilities.

Yeah, it could mean she had a little money. I don't think you have to be really wealthy, though. I'm not sure how expensive they were when she was found.

I know dna in codis should mean an automatic rule out of missing people but i still believe this could sadly be Helen Marie Green. New Jersey is just over an hour away from New York and it was believed that she would head there from Chicago. Every time i look here i think of her. :-(

There might not be the same type of DNA, though. If you want me to submit her as a possible match, let me know

I think we should have a go :-)

FWIW: I did send an email earlier this year to Detective Donna Higbee that Helen Green could be a possible match. I did not receive any reply but it would not hurt to submit the match again.

Maybe they never saw it. Well anyway, I'll give it a go tomorrow :)

While you're on the phone, you might want to ask what kind of DNA our JD has and where it's stored. It might help with later potential matches.

You are just both awesome! when i played google it said that Joseph Velling had retired & i am not familiar enough with systems in the US to know where to go from there. I love the new reveal tool which lets you suggest a match but then its limited in what it says. Carbuff, i thought you may have done that but didnt see anything again. I know they are so busy and it probably has been ruled out with codis but i can't help feeling that it just may be.

I just started a blog, DNA in NamUs & CODIS - No rule out by default, have to add a case to it. Margaret "Margo" Walden; see my post here where I wonder what I was missing. - You can't assume they are at the level to be compared.

SSA & myself were just talking about Helen & wondering if there are school records somewhere that her brother can try to get so that we have a better idea of when she went missing. Helen being missing is very hard on him.

Is there an email left for Jane's agency? I sent one to NamUs about Helen Marie Green.

I can't even begin to imagine how hard it is on Helen's brother. I just know every time i see that little face i want to hug her and tell her we will make it alright. I know i probably sound a little bit weird especially being so far away but there are cases that just break my heart. Every day, i want to try to spend a little bit of time looking and trying to help. New years eve here now. I want 2016 to be the year we give many loved ones their names back.

NamUs UP - contact is Pamela Reed. I'm friends with her. If you'd like me to pass on what you have you can send it to me PM. Pam is very busy; took her a month to get back to me on another case

No it's not weird. We would love to give her brother closure. My personal opinion is she has not been located yet.

Patricia Willingham answered my email and said that she passed the info along to Helen's case manager!
