I've been going through all of my reconstructions that were colorized versions of the generic looking NCMEC CT-Scan reconstructions, and revising them to make them look more lifelike. Here is a rendition of 71 Gallaway Jane.

Keep in mind that this facial reconstruction is based on a computerized reconstruction that was based on a CT-Scan of her skull, and as such, it should be a reasonably close apporoximation of her facial shape and dimensions and positioning of her facial features. Her hair length and color are based only on a written description. However, fine details such as her overall look, and the shape of her eyes, lips, etc. are not intended to be exact depictions.

This case is absolutely perplexing. A girl in her early teens with perfect teeth, a key for a motel along the Garden State Parkway, and a distinctive watch-bracelet ought to have been remembered by someone. I couldn't find any info on the motel key she was found with: does anyone have any info on that? I'm also wondering why they didn't include a photo of the key. I got curious about the extra sacral vertebrae, hoping that it was something that would be in a doctor's reports. But according to this article, and this article, it might have gone unnoticed throughout her life. The mention of the hair found being possibly a wig jumps out at me. It said that the hair was dyed. Is it possible that a portion of the hair found was a wig, and the other part was her hair? Had she been dumped with a wig on, but her real hair was found as well? Sorry if I'm being unclear. The description of it being blonde, brown, and red brown sounds very different. Could, say, her real hair have been brown/reddish brown, and she was wearing a blonde wig?

This kind of makes me think of the Jaycee Dugard case. After they began calling her Alissa, they dyed and cut her hair to be able to go on outings with her, without raising suspicion. Maybe it was Jane Doe's captor's way of interacting with her in public without anyone asking "Hey, are you that missing girl?" A far-fetched theory, I know.

Patricia Willingham answered my email and said that she passed the info along to Helen's case manager!

No further word yet.

Awesome reconstruction, Carl.

Was any useful information ever developed from the motel key?

Here's a stretch, but Lynn Bernadette Luray? Her age at disappearance would put her in her early 20s in 71, but I think she's possible? I know that it says her hair was brown, but in the pictures it appears to be a very light shade of brown, almost blonde. Her hair also may have been chemically lightened, giving it a reddish appearance as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if she was ruled out, but I thought I'd throw her name in the mix http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/2880dfca.html

A second possible is Janet Kramer, who's hair is described as brown, but in her picture looks like it's red. Her eyes also look farther apart than the recons, but the angle of the picture and possible distortion from the glasses could be contributing to that. Her case doesn't have a lot of information though. http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/k/kramer_janet.html

I'm not aware of a list of ruleouts, please let me know your thoughts on both of these possibilities. I'll be looking through nampn a little later on for more possibilities.

My previous post won't let me edit it again, but what if she was abducted as a child and taken care of by her abductor, until she got too old for his tastes, so she was disposed of?

This little one might unfortunately fit that situation: http://www.nampn.org/cases/shea_kathleen.html
She would have been 12 or 13 in 71 as well, which fits our UID.

NCMEC narrative where it mentions the key. I wonder if the motel ever went thru their records.

On December 6, 1971 an unidentified female was found in Galloway Township, New Jersey near the Garden State Parkway. Her body was found in a wooded area off Jimmie Leeds Road. The female had been deceased for several months prior to being found. The female is estimated to be 12-18 years old but likely on the younger side closer to age of 12-14. She was petite at about 5’02” tall and around 115 pounds. Her hair was possibly auburn and shoulder length. She was found wearing a blue polo shirt, bell bottom slacks with multiple colored vertical stripes, and brown leather sandals. She also wore a wide leather band bracelet with small brass eyelets all around the band. Attached to the bracelet through some of the eyelets was a small watch. The watch did not appear to have been originally attached to the leather band but secured separately. Inside the female’s pants was a key to a local motel along the Garden State Parkway. The images above is an enhanced photograph of the bracelet the female was wearing along with a facial reconstruction completed by a NCMEC Forensic Artist and another one completed by a NJSP Forensic Artist. Both reconstructions depict what the female may have looked like in life.

Would really love to have photos of her clothes. I bet someone would remember those white/blue/orange vertical stripe pants

Apparently there's a $5,000 reward
The victim - Jul 29, 2009 - Galloway Township Detective Donna Buccafurni has available a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the death of the girl found in woods near the Garden State Parkway 38 years ago.

Forensic work has produced this description of the girl:
Age: Between 14 and 17 years
Height: Between 5'2" and 5'0"
Weight: Between 105 and 130 pounds
Hair: Straight, shoulder-length, light brown
Clothing: Ribbed, blue cotton shirt, white, blue and orange-striped pants; brown leather sandals; bracelet watch
Other: Perfect teeth

The Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation donated the money. The organization was founded by relatives of Carole Sund, Juli Sund and Silvina Pelosso. The women went missing while hiking in Yosemite National Park in February 1999. Their bodies were found shortly after. Cary Stayner was convicted of their murders and is on death row in San Quentin State Prison, Calif.

If I were a betting person, I would bet my last dollar that Janet Kramer is alive and well and on FaceBook.:innocent:
It does look like her, doesn't it? And the location is only 20 mins from where she was born. I did send NamUs an email and a link to the page about a month ago, but maybe they just haven't gotten around to investigating it further? I don't know, but I'm fairly certain it's her. If it really is, I'm happy for the family. Outcomes like that are very rare.

Did anything come of it?

No, I never heard back from anyone about Janet's case, one way or another. I just sent it into NamUs and decided to let them take it from there. I'm still certain it's her, though. I don't think they would let me know it was her, would they? Anyway, I didn't really expect a reply, just for them to update the database.

If they contacted her and she provided ID her case would be off line

Here is a recent addition.

Sylvia Torgow escaped from a Michigan Prison.

That's a good reason to color her hair.

Height and weight are approximate to this UID.

Although it indicates she has a tattoo on her hand, UID was skeletonized.

Looks like her picture was added to NAMUS recently.

Her DNA status says "Initial inquiry underway".

Already submiited.
