NJ NJ - Imani Glover, 25, (located) & girlfriend Destiny Owens, 29, call made from stranger’s phone @ Newark Penn Station, 4 Jan 2023

I don't know what drugs they were allegedly involved with, but I wonder if her photo has been distributed to the safe injection sites in NYC -- they were reportedly last sighted at a store on W. 125th St which is about a 15-minute walk from OnPoint's East Harlem location.

A New Jersey woman who had been missing since Christmas Eve was found on Wednesday, but escaped from police custody after being taken to a local hospital to be checked while being held on outstanding warrants, officials said.

East Orange police found Destiny Owens at about 1:10 p.m. on South Maple Avenue and determined she had outstanding warrants in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, a spokeswoman said.

Owens, an East Orange resident, is described as 5-foot-6 and about 130 pounds.

“I’m definitely worried about my daughter’s safety,” Tamika Owens, Owens’ mother said by phone Thursday. “I’m confused and shocked. I know Destiny is out there somewhere traumatized and scared.”

***********
“At this time, Owens’ welfare is a priority and EOPD is asking for the public’s assistance in her healthy and safe return,” East Orange police said in a statement.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call East Orange police at 973-266-5030.

How did she escape from police custody? From my understanding, when someone is arrested and brought to a hospital for treatment, there is typically an officer stationed outside the door to keep both the person in custody and the medical staff safe.

So, it seems that she is running from something...including LE. Was she the one that's got a warrant or is it Glover?

I might not be understanding correctly, but it seems to me that Owens had outstanding warrants but Glover didn’t — she must have already been arrested or had already turned herself in before they went missing, then skipped subsequent court appearances. I haven’t seen anything about what Owens’ warrants were for or if they were related to Glover’s case.

The concern from their families is interesting to me. Seems that they weren’t just worried about the women running from the law — they were/are concerned for their safety. (Pure speculation: I wonder if there’s some fear about associates retaliating for Glover’s case and Owens’ testimony.) I wonder what Owens was being treated at the hospital for . . .
