NJ NJ - Mindy Jordan, 46, missing from cruise ship off Atlantic City, 11 May 2008

Sorry if I missed this, but I have been looking through the links trying to find where it says these rooms were adjoining. I can't find it. Do we know that they were or is that just speculation?

I wonder if he can be seen on the OTHER friends' balcony while she is falling or if he is out of camera range.

I wonder - if the friends are lying and he went through an adjoining door - how he would get her to go over the railing without being close enough to be seen on the video.

I wonder if anyone saw her trying to climb from balcony to balcony besides the boyfriend and friends.

FC,
My understanding is while the camera shows that Mindy fell, the cruiseline told Mindy's mom that's all it shows, that the camera placement is limited. Not all murders are planned and premeditated or require a motive. I'm sure the incident when Jorge broke bones in Mindy's face was neither planned nor had a motive other than anger. IMO, past behavior is a great predictor of future behavior. She doesn't appear to have a history of risky behavior but he has a history of assaulting her. I don't know how easy climbing or what great fun that balcony would have looked in heavy rain and minimum 50 MPH winds. From other passenger accounts, everyone was warned to stay indoors and it was hard to even walk.

Morag, great find on the room number!

Agree, those actions are more of a "Spring Break" mentality. This 🤬🤬🤬 wants us to believe his story. I think more will come out.

The adjoining rooms makes sense and tells us that the cruise line can't have CAM's in the bedrooms, so all indicators point to him throwing her off the ship, turbulent weather included.

Exactly, before I agree this is an accident, more information needs to be released by the FBI. The cruise line industry will get a bad mark this summer, due to unsafe balconies on ships. It had to be HER fault, she was goofing off. Right!!

FC, just because something can't be seen doesn't mean it's not there. I want more info before I let "nice guy Jorge" off the hook.
The FBI knows more than media. If they say accident then I believe it to be an accident. They have seen ALL the evidence. We haven't.

An accident isn't the final ruling yet for the FBI. If at some point they rule that way, I'll except it too.

The FBI said its initial investigation into a cruise ship passenger's death points to an accident.
"Our objective is first to rule out whether or not there was a crime here, and thus far the evidence — the information we have acquired — does not suggest a crime," New York FBI director Mark Mershon told FOX News. "But that is not definitive; we have a number of investigative steps we have yet to deploy."

I had a thought about the entry card. Is it possible he came back and knocked on the door, and she opened it from inside?
Would that have been recorded as he didn't use a pass card to open the door?

.

According to the NY Post, her stateroom number was 9560. If you click on this:

and look at the deck plan of Deck 9, and you have very good eyes:), you can see that rooms 9560 and 9562 are adjoining. We don't yet know that the friends were in the adjoining room, though, or do we?

It's on Inside Edition right now, 7pm EDT

Her parents are adamant that she didn't 'accidently' fall overboard.

People walking in the hallways of the ship are videotaped. I doubt if there's a record of when the door was opened using the card.

I don't know if this link was posted in earlier pages, but this one says the rooms were adjoining. It's a blog -- if you care!
http://www.usatoday.com/travel/cruises/item.aspx?type=blog&ak=49901604.blog

Actually, this doesn't say that the rooms were adjoining. It does, however, specifically state that Mindy was alone when she fell. From the link:

"the video proves that she was alone at the time."

AND

"7:36 PM. Caputo left the cabin and went to join the other couple in their cabin next door. From that moment on, Mindy is alone in her stateroom."

I think we know they were in the room next door, but there are rooms on either side; their friends could have been in the room on the side that doesn't have an adjoining door. I can't find anything that says the 2 rooms were adjoining.

The argument could be made that 2 couples travelling together would choose the adjoining rooms; however, if they were, why did they repeatedly walk out into the hallway to visit one another? Why not just go through the adjoining doors?

I guess my biggest problem with this is not so much the door as the fact that this couple is said to be a friend of Mindy's (even by her family), but for the foul play theory to be true they would have to be lying and covering up their friend's murder. WHY???

I am waiting till the FBI concludes, and like everyone else on here, I want a girl beating bully to get his due like the next person-

But for the ship to release a statement that they have video leading up to and including her fall, and she was alone, leads me to think this is a tragic accident. There's no way they would not prefer this to be foul play from a legal standpoint, they are now possibly subject to a wrongful death suit .
Prayers for her family

Great show, Greta!

"Everything else comes in if there's a problem. There could be a motive".

>snip

She is absolutely right! This 🤬🤬🤬 has a history of violence. If this was a really happy couple, this account could be taken at face value.

What appears as an accident, was probabaly premeditated murder and to bring along a very sick friend evokes tons of sympathy from the cruise ship. His goose is cooked.

He reminds me of Drew P.:bang:

I have serveral questions that I feel need to be answered before I can feel comfortable this was an accident.
1. How did the boyfriend know she fell overboard?
2. Did he tell Mindy Jordans mother that he saw her hit something, hold on then lose
her grip and fall into the ocean.
4. does the video tape actually show the act of falling off the balcony or dose it
only show a person falling on the side of the ship?

I am leaning toward the following scenerio The boyfriend was on the friends balcony and he was coaxing Mindy to hop balcanies. This would explain how he knew she fell and why he told her mother they were fooling around. The leaves two questions for me. Why on earth were they doing such a rediculous thing and the bigger question did he contribute to her fall in anyway.

apparently, Jorge is back in the US tonight. Guess, his trip was ended by the FBI.

The FBI directer for NYC stated that they aren't prepared at this time to address Mindy's state of mind, or what happened on that balcony. I found this puzzling. If they've got video tape of the balcony and of Mindy falling "straight into the water", it would seem that they would be able to see if...........she climbed onto the railing, appeared to have been pushed, or slipped and lost her balance and fell over. He said that they've interviewed Jorge and other potential eye-witnesses. But, it appears that at this time they aren't saying anything in regards to what they think may have happen.

I was late watching Greta tonight, coming in about 8 - 10 minutes into the program, and at that time they were discussing this case. Towards the end of the program, they showed Jorge arriving at an airport in either NY or NJ (didn't catch the name of the airport), and when he saw waiting news media, he opted to have airport personnel escort him out another way. The viewer gets about a minute of him in the background waiting for an escort.
