NJ - Mystery drones seen nightly

I don’t understand why we can’t send helicopters up to just hang out with the drones. Hovering around with them until the drones head home and the helicopters just follow them back.
Doing nothing is baffling. We are better than this.

I saw that some New Jersey police sent up their drones to try to get video of the unidentified drones, but haven’t seen any video produced from that endeavor…

Rain and fog can obstruct the view of some cameras, depending on altitude, so that's probably why they're not out....

This mayor says he watched the drone over his town and saw it fly in a specific pattern. He is frustrated, understandably so, that the drones are allowed to keep flying with nobody knowing that the are. They go from about 5:30pm to midnight.

The public response to this issue has been very misinformed on a few things.

If they happen to have anti-drone weapons on hand, in that location, they could take them down (and probably wouldn't involve shooting). However, specialized tech for this purpose is not that common. There are no examples of anti-drone weapons being used on US soil against enemy drones (excluding the balloon).

While the military doesn't have to be up front about who owns these drones, multiple military officials have reported unidentified drones in restricted airspace, spying on military bases. Some of these cases were even reported to cause near misses with military aircraft.

There have been multiple arrests in the past of "tourists" who were driving close to restricted areas, with spy drones in their vehicle.

I think it is far more likely that there are unauthorized drones in the US. It is hard to believe that multiple military bases have lied about this issue. They are generally admitting security gaps that need attention when doing this. The lack of any communication in this situation, other than reporting unauthorized drones at Picatinny Arsenal, seems to be a sign something is happening that isn't supposed to be.

Some of the "countermeasures" reported to be used by the military bases include covering sensitive hardware with nets and putting up taller fences.

The typical online sceptic implies that that there is some magical anti-drone system in place nationwide. But they don't seem to realize that incompetence, laziness, and lack of funding by the government are pretty simple assumptions you can make over something that obviously doesn't exist.

I think these drones are too large and too numerous to be launched from an automobile. That's why I lean toward an offshore source.

In a letter sent to New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, the mayors of 21 towns are demanding action on the mysterious drones spotted flying overhead in recent weeks.

They also demanded the "implementation of measures to prevent unauthorized or unsafe drone operations" in Morris County going forward, and "clear communication to local officials, law enforcement and residents regarding the findings of this investigation."”

So NJ mayors don’t seem as assured at the Governor that the drones are harmless…

I have thought that, though the biggest issue, in my opinion, is the size of the drones. They’re being reported to be ‘car-sized’. Not really feasible for a hobbyist.

Now of course, maybe they look larger again the night sky? IMO MOO OMO

The FBI and military doing nothing makes me think they know it's a TOP SECRET military operation so they won't confirm or deny anything.
If it was spy drones the size of a car, I'd hope our military would take them out.

It's a valid concern for the mayors, and it should concern the governors of that state as well, I'd think !
