Not necessarily. It brings to mind a video I saw of someone taking out the Boston Dynamics ‘robot dogs’. You need to hit the battery pack for it to stop operating. I imagine it would be similar with drones. If you had a large caliber shotgun, I think that would be the best anti-drone weapon. But the effective range of a 40 cal shotgun is only about 100 yards (this is a discussion for a 40 cal pistol, but it would likely be similar, if not less effective range on the shotgun https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/40-s-w-effective-range.1460411/).

People are claiming the drones are flying very low, so maybe there would be opportunity. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s federally illegal.

Although if someone wanted to take one for the team, they could shoot one down and see who shows up to arrest them…

Thank you for this; Arielilane, I can understand peoples' frustration.

And I'm always trying to find the most BENIGN, IMAGINATIVE, and least-terrifying source of these drones.

Could this not be a University Geology Department (such as Rutgers? Columbia: Lamont Doherty) working in collaboration with the USGS?

They want to study gasses emitted from the ground? Or magnetic anomalies??? Especially....Prior to an earthquake.

Maybe these drones are getting base-line readings because NJ had an earthquake last year, and we want to try to predict a future one?

Imagine my surprise: I GREW UP IN "SEISMICALLY ACTIVE" NEW JERSEY.

Magnitude 4.8 earthquakes could happen at anytime. Shocking.

C'mon, This is the United State of America. Don't you believe for one minute that the powers to be don't know what's going on. Especially after 911. Whatever kind of drones they are or what they are being used for, there has been enough sightings and unanswered questions that within a very short time our very capable military would have the answers. And that's the problem I have. Its been going on far to long now. And still only a lot of opinions and no solid answers.

Agree. You'd think they could've crafted a cover story that wasn't an insult to the public's intelligence. I feel they honestly didn't think that many people would notice/catch on to the fact that something different was in the night sky....they were wrong. jmo
 
Michael B, witnessed his own drone crash and burn as he attempted to steer it near one of the many, still-unexplained drone UFOs that have swarmed the state.

'When this started, I tried to take my drone over Picatinny Arsenal to follow a drone that was just hovering over there,' Michael explained, 'and as I got closer my drone lost power, spun out, the battery died and it went down.' 'But the other drone,' he noted, ominously, 'remained sitting in the air, unaffected.'

What makes these mystery drone flights so concerning, according to Michael B, is that sensitive sites like Picatinny Arsenal and major US airports already have drone jamming technology that prevents commercial drones from entering their airspace.

Just trying to visualize, people have reported some are the size of cars. Where does one keep a flock of drones that large undercover? Or launch them without raising suspicion. My obvious thought is they are not hobby drones all of a sudden flying at night from many different individuals. They surely must be housed at a government facility or private airport. And therein lies that thought that government knows who they belong to and why they are flying. JMO

From the article:"...DHS Secretary Mayorkas said, '...the government does not have the authority to neutralize the drones'". WTH??? If that doesn't fuel conspiracy theory, nothing will. jmo

Thanks @Brightchaser47 …. That statement attributed to DHS Secretary leaves me speechless. Unbelievable. And no, I am not into a conspiracy theory on this at present.

Does this imply the US federal government has knowledge of them? Do they know the source of them? Do they have sufficient knowledge to know that they do not have the authority to ‘neutralize’ them? And if so, why in the heck not? Aren’t they in US territory or airspace? (Earlier there was IIRC some IMO horrid excuse that none were in ‘restricted’ airspace.)

Do they need to be neutralized? (And yet the Secretary indicates not suitable authority to do so?)

If that is the best statement that can be given……. IMO perhaps it is best to remain silent.

I would like to think our elected and appointed officials are competent to do their job. SMH. MOO

Yeah, I'm not sure how to interpret that statement, tbh. We're told the FAA rules the sky (in essence), yet that statement would seem to imply that the federal government is powerless in this situation. FWIW, I find that hard to believe. jmo

People who can't tell the difference between stars, and drones that are 200-300 feet above them with red, blue, or green lights that are flashing.

Second bolded : Doubtful as some LE dept.'s actually sent their own drones to try to follow the invading drones and failed to follow them.

Kirby may be an intelligent communications director, but he isn't inspiring confidence for the public.
I'm not sure he knows --or if he does, is he not saying ?

The Federal Government is NOT powerless. Remember 911 they scrambled jets to take out the plane in Pennsylvania. They grounded all aircraft for 3 days after 9/11.

What do these people take us for, do they think we have no memory or knowledge of the government.

Attack American soil and see how fast we blow your kister out of the air.

They are looking for something, I suspect a bio hazard.
