this can't be his first rodeo. Can anyone find anything on this guy? Unless he was really really drunk, how does a fight lead to the brutal murder of this beautiful young woman? He has to have a record with assault or the like. Wonder if there had ever been any violence before in their young relationship.

From minimal sleuthing of his social media, I can tell you he has an ex-wife and a young daughter. He works on the oil rigs and has switched locations several times. I had trouble using the Texas arrest record search engine. You're right, this degree of violence seems like a big jump. I wouldn't be surprised to see at minimum some DV charges on his record.

He evidently does have a fairly long record. Varied, with DUI, theft and controlled substances, but what's reported doesn't mention assault.

It's disturbing (to me) that most photos on his FB page (at least the most where he appears animated) are with young girls.

I assumed those girls to be his daughter and Emily's daughters.

Yes, I believe they were, but his demeanor seemed entirely different. I found the differences disturbing.

From May:

A jury declared unanimously that Robert Earley was guilty of first degree murder and kidnapping in the death of Lambert after a three week trial in the Eddy County Courthouse.

The jury of five men and seven woman deliberated only a few hours before returning unanimous verdicts on the three charges against Earley, including tampering with evidence, Friday afternoon.

The jury found that the aggravated circumstance, kidnapping, was applicable in the case. In New Mexico the only possible sentence for a defendant found guilty of first degree murder with an aggravated circumstance is life imprisonment.
