Newly released video footage from officer's lapel camera shows motorist opening a driver door and firing shots during the weekend traffic stop

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man suspected of shooting and wounding a police officer during a weekend traffic stop was homeless and driving a stolen SUV when he was pulled over, Albuquerque Police Chief Gordon Eden said Tuesday.

Unbelievable! There was no reason to shoot the officer other than the suspect wanted to. From the video, if he had wanted to get away he could of driven away. He had a clear path to leave the scene while the officer was approaching the vehicle. IMO this was premeditated attempted murder. He waited till the officer was at the driver door then opened the door and fired away.
It is obvious the pain this officer is in just by listening to his breathing. I hope he makes a speedy and full recovery.
I don't believe the suspect for one minute when he said he doesn't remember. At the time he was alert enough to be able to steal a car, pull over for law enforcement, wait for the officer to get to his car door, fire the weapon several times, flee the scene and stay on the run for several days. IMO he knows what he did.

"I don't remember Saturday," Cook said. "I haven't slept in two weeks."

So.... how does he know he hasn't slept?
